That trick with the use of the red is amazing. It really does help you to see any bits you've missed. Fantastic - thank you once again for a very elevating tutorial!
I've been watching your videos for a while now, really helped me a lot in learning sketchup. Thanks man!
Really appreciate and admire your work.
Thanks, it comes in so handy!
I'm really interested to see what you do with all these materials with extremely low color saturation. Interesting that you aren't using Vray materials. Like a few other things where I've watched you and gone to myself, "why the heck is he doing it like that?", I'm sure all will be revealed in good time.
Thanks a lot for taking the time to make this series. As a self-taught modeller, it's really interesting to see other peoples methods. I do like your method of using red to make sure you get all the faces and then editing it.
One thing's for sure, I use a lot more layers than you and am entertaining the thought of using less after watching you. I wish SketchUp could group layers like Photoshop does.
You're absolutely right. If this was for a client or even a personal project I would be using VRay materials, and likely textures, from the start. Doing this as a series though, I've been trying to segment the steps somewhat, and boil everything down into individual videos to make it a little easier to follow and understand the objective; the final materials will be done later in their own video. As for the current materials being used, they're more or less a ballpark for texture ideas later, plus they help give a bit of depth to the model and make for good thumbnails :P
Awesome. I'm so glad you said that, as I was thinking that my method is very different. I sort of texture as I go, and towards the end it almost feels like conducting an orchestra of geometry, textures and lighting! haha Totally makes sense that you are compartmentalising everything for the tutorials. Thanks again :)
Oh and the other piece of gold you gave me was scaling ruler lines to easily subdivide something. Damn, I never thought of that and have been using it ever since I saw you do it on the sofa. So thanks!!!!
what set up of computer did you used sir?
How did you get so good at sketchup? I am practising a lot but not nearly close to you !!
Thank you! Lots and lots of practice; been using it for all sorts of projects for years.
