  • Recordings of partygoers pleading for help have been heard at a coroner's inquest into the death of Sophia Crestani, the 19-year-old killed in a stampede at an overcrowded student party in Dunedin.
Crestani’s death more than four years ago put the spotlight on the student drinking culture in New Zealand.
She died in a stairway pile-up at a well-known student flat nicknamed 'The Manor' on Dundas Street during a party attended by hundreds of people.
The coroner's hearing started today and is expected to continue for the rest of the week.
