Great you are back Stephen and Julia, I was thinking of you today while I was grafting Honeycrisp scions on a crab apple tree

I was lucky enough to have 4 varieties from your last send out, one of which was May Queen. It was my first time grafting in 2018 after watching all your videos. We now have a young orchard of 40 fruit trees that include 2 of each variety from your scion cuttings and several more trees from those same cuttings grown on in pots and going to friends and local community projects. Your knowledge and generosity spreads far and wide, and it's great to see some new vidoes.

good to see you back stephen, missed you. Of the four i got from you may queens the only one i havent tasted yet, the first year bugs, then frost, then bitter pit, think the soil was to dry, this year finally.

I heartily recommend your book! I read it about 2 months ago, and enjoyed it as an extension to hearing you talk here on CZcams. It's good to see you back here, and fascinating to learn about your experience with naturally stored apples, 6 months after picking - something that could be attainable for normal people without access to dedicated, sophisticated apple storage. Hope to see more of you this year :)

Great to see you back posting. I added May Queen to my Orchard this winter - bought from Deacons Nursery

Hi Stephen and Julia hope all is well with everyone. Thank you for taking the time to put the video up
I hope I have some apples from my two dwarf Apple trees this year🤞 I would love to have more trees but I only have a small garden we can only make do with what with we’ve got. 👍🏴󠁧󠁢󠁳󠁣󠁴󠁿

I haven't had anywhere to put an apple tree for years and likely never will now but nonetheless it's great to find these good quality channels.
Found my way here from The 'Big Shrimp.'

Great to see you and Julia back. Hope you are all well.
Just a suggestion, please consider a short video on your apple store. I would be interested on how it was constructed and how you keep it mouse proof. How did you insulate and what are the average temperatures inside during fall, winter then into spring?
    Best Regards,
    John from St. Louis USA

Great to hear from you both again. You mention Keepers nursery in Kent. Agree an excellent nursery, probably the best in UK for range and quality. You say change of management, true, but the only change is that son Karim is now running it after his father Hamid Habibi sadly died last year. We’ve been buying from here for our Community Orchards for 6 yrs now.

You've got some great videos and information that I still find myself coming back to after stumbling across your channel years ago. Still, it's always a treat when you add a new one. I've got about half a dozen trees grafted to varieties known for keeping, though I'm in upstate NY so the names are different. I did so for some of the concerns you named. I have a detached garage which the previous owner equipped with a poured concrete mechanics pit. Wooden boards overlay the top. I measured the temperature over the winter and while it got within a few degrees of freezing it never dropped below. I'll be able to store bushels down there once my trees mature.

      @ajones8699 Před 4 lety +1

Felco no8 for me as well, stay away from secateurs constructed mainly of plastic.
Don’t forget to keep clean and lightly oiled.

Really good to see you ! Thanks . I grafted 30 trees so far this year so far . Waiting on scion wood for the rest . Doing something different this year , Doing and interstem graft . Because of soil conditions . They have them at the orange pippin nurseries in the uk, but not over here . Thanks again !

I have seen a number of your videos about May Queen, I wish I could grow it here in Tasmania, but biosecurity rules will not allow import without expensive quarantine costs.

Hi Stephen. Our May Queen apples you provided scions for five years ago did very well save for an infestation of the Codling Moth eggs which decimated the crop. This year I will be trapping the males in an effort to reduce the blight. If you are sending out rare varieties Id love to receive some. I have an abundance of very palatable Bramley scions this year which I can post out should anyone want them.
