    You have no idea how much I needed this video. Sorta was going through a crisis since on my practice scores I got a 1210 and was feeling I had no chance of getting in, especially since testing won't be possible for me any time soon. I now feel so much more confident in my chances. Thank you.

    You got some mad good activities 😂🙈. I'd say I have high test scores and decent activities and essays but I think my gpa was pulling me down..... messed around in 9th grade and ended up with a 3.8+ highschool gpa unweighted🙈, good thing my school doesn't do ranking or I'll probably be around top 30% or worse.

    Totally hear you - class rank and GPA (lots of the score-based stuff, really...) is important, but once you get into a certain bracket (I'd say probably top 5 - 10% of your grad class), spend the time focusing on other parts of your application (or taking a break!! hahaha)

    A lot of people in the comments have been wondering about the SAT’s impact on admission, and I wanted to share my experience. College admissions involves a ton of wholistic examination AND luck. I have a 4+ GPA and a 1590 SAT, and Cornell was one of very few schools to have accepted me. Plus, to be perfectly candid, I believe I had covered all parts of my application from essays to extracurriculars. In the end, the best thing you can do for yourself is put your best foot forward if you choose to apply. Be careful, though. A lot of colleges love it when they get a ton of applicants because it sends their acceptance rate down.

      Anyway since you are talking about foot forward thingy so am I going to have a good shot or not

    I’m going into my sophomore year, from being a freshie with a 3.2 GPA. I’m aware that’s fairly low, considering Cornell’s my dream college. However I know my hope isn’t lost, and I plan to genuinely apply myself these next 3 years. I plan to do tons of community service, become president of HOSA as well as become head section leader of my sax section. Have any advice for me? Thanks!

      Doesn’t really matter tho, kids here range in scores and I know a few who got below 1000 on their SAT 🤷🏽‍♀️

    • @devinhyams6127
      @devinhyams6127 Před 4 lety

      Calista-Rae Campbell yes kids at Cornell range in scores....exactly why its called an average. Average is when you combine all the scores and divide by the total # of scores. Only matters because there was misinformation

    • @calista-raecampbell9770
      @calista-raecampbell9770 Před 4 lety +1

      I know what an average is..just wanted to point out the range itself to encourage students to apply. Plus, test scores don’t really matter for Cornell, it just so happens that students here tend to be good test takers.

    I AM MINDBLOWN. I love that you shared this video, I’m considering applying for Cornell but I feel like I have no chance based on my SAT score. You have an AMAZING gpa and are #12 in your grade, are u kidding????? That’s amazing. I have a really good total average, weighted is 101.16, so I’m trying to be hopeful that not I don’t necessarily need atleast a 1380 SAT score to stop me from possibly even being considered
