I am glad atlast few people noticed and talked about Karthi. He is really one of the most underrated in our Kollywood. Every Karthi movies always has a minimum guarantee like " Confirm one time aachi pakura maari irukum unlike some other's utter flop movies " except Dev & Viruman I would say. But other than this His Films are always good not in business wise but in content wise. Karthi is a gem 💎

Two things that have been consistent with Karthi since his very first film - Intelligence and Charm (apart from the obvious acting talent this man posses). He is intelligent enough to understand the current trend of films and try something new everytime (He made Siruthai & Naan Mahaan alla when those type of films were working. When they stopped and he had few bad films, he immediately switched to a content driven/layered film like Madras). He's smart enough to not be stuck in a loop of trying to repeat his own success (like most big Tamil actors do). The charm part, I don't have to explain. You can't not smile when this guy cracks a joke or smiles on screen.
I agree, he is extremely intelligent and speaks so well. I've always felt like he doesn't act, he's just being Karthi with little twist depending on the role. Love Karthi 🇲🇾💜

His conscious lack of attachment to his star value, that leads him to fearlessly experiment with content driven movies, made with a budget that makes financial sense, that leads to both critical and commercial success most of the times. 2. The clarity of his thought process(mostly devoid of financial viability, and more on the content side of it) , which is good from an artist), which is evident in his interviews. I like how he acknowledges the existence of certain 'templates' in his filmography, and agrees that he chooses scripts that mix and match around those templates (like, a rural subject after a modern subject and so on), but also tries to experiment around those said templates, blurring the lines between the templates as much as possible. 3. His stint as AD , definitely has given him a director's sensibility, and a good sense of judging the effectiveness of the screenplay of his films (which is the soul of any film) 4. Finally , I think this is underrated but this guy just exudes charm on screen like no one else. I think with the impressive filmography karthi has curated for himself, in every character of his, we see a shade of his 'paiyya' character, along with a shade of 'dheeran adhigarm ondru' character, that makes him really fun to watch and relatable on screen. The only other actors that comes to mind with these characteristics is Dhanush, and of course, the indefatigable Vijay Sethupathi.

I think Suriya in his peak (2002-2012) was basically like present day Karthi. Very well combined content+commercial. I think he also showed more range than Karthi...in terms of characters, body language and looks....There are very few stars who would do a V1000 when they are on their way to achieve peak stardom. The first half of v1000 was pure drama with a naive character (young suriya). Same goes to Ayan. He is almost a anti-hero dealing with smuggling. Good to see him back on track with SP. SP literally showed his calibre as an actor

Perhaps after Ayan and Singam, he couldn't do another V1000 kinda movie. Karthi hasn't fallen into that trap so far. The only time karthi fumbled was in 2012-13.

To be honest, as a fan of no particular actor, I have been falling for Karthi more and more. Only because of his underrated but supreme acting talent and his intelligence in how he approaches his characters. Karthi's interview on "Kaatru Veliyidai" and his understanding of his character blew my mind because it was so intelligent. He is not just a pretty face or a talentless hack attempting to coast on his industry connections. I hope he, at least, reaches the stardom level of Dhanush even if not superstar level.

Yes I think Karthi is the Catalyst for talented Young Directors to come up, Karthi is always ready for experiments and his middle ground stardom speaks for itself. He can do both slaying as a Commercial hero in Siruthai/Sulthan and pull off a Role like Thozha too that's his homeground, the versatile nature of him and the options for people to cast him in any costume and still look Uber cool in all of them make him stand out.
I believe his best work is yet to come. I liked his performance in Naan Mahaan Alla the most. That last action block was RAW and BRUTAL in the truest form. Still get goosebumps watching it.
Karthik had a good market in Telugu, after Kamal and Rajani.. he is the only person who got a good market .. earlier few other actor's Movies also entered the market ..Ajith, Vikram, and Surya ..but they did not sustain in the Telugu market .. they did not connect to the audience .. I don't think he is underrated nowadays in my personal opinion I think he wasn't still rated. As a fan he will definitely entertain us and carry Tamil cinema to the golden era. Because every stereotype was commercially broken by him. He doesn't want to make movies with well-known directors indeed he makes the director well-known and the main credit should be given to Dream warriors too. They gave a path to the newcomers and suggested Karthi to play the lead. However I'm waiting for one of my favorite director, production company and actor combo meets up in Japan
Vijay agreed to do master after watching maanagaram, kaithi was still not started. Lokesh told in an interview. Kaithi definitely helped him get vikram.
The reason is simple. Karthi strength is right balance in his acting and hence an image. For drama, he does emotion very well while wont make you feel it too melodramatic. When it comes to action, ofcourse he is another superhero but acts like he is still very vulnerable like any of us. Directors are gifted to bring the right balance of stardom and uncompromised script thats results in perect commerical action movie with convincing drama/emotion that connects with audience.

Yes I think Karthi is the Catalyst for talented Young Directors to come up, Karthi is always ready for experiments and his middle ground stardom speaks for itself. He can do both slaying as a Commercial hero in Siruthai/Sulthan and pull off a Role like Thozha too that's his homeground, the versatile nature of him and the options for people to cast him in any costume and still look Uber cool in all of them make him stand out.
I believe his best work is yet to come. I liked his performance in Naan Mahaan Alla the most. That last action block was RAW and BRUTAL in the truest form. Still get goosebumps watching it.

He said that If I have two offer One is to Work with Star Director for Basic Template Story Another one is to Work with New Director for New Exciting Story I’ll prefer Working with New Director. He hasn’t do films for the sake of doing films with Big Directors. He keeps on experimenting crafts.

I don't think he is underrated nowadays in my personal opinion I think he wasn't still rated. As a fan he will definitely entertain us and carry Tamil cinema to the golden era. Because every stereotype was commercially broken by him. He doesn't want to make movies with well-known directors indeed he makes the director well-known and the main credit should be given to Dream warriors too. They gave a path to the newcomers and suggested Karthi to play the lead. However I'm waiting for one of my favorite director, production company and actor combo meets up in Japan

The reason is simple.
Karthi strength is right balance in his acting and hence an image. For drama, he does emotion very well while wont make you feel it too melodramatic. When it comes to action, ofcourse he is another superhero but acts like he is still very vulnerable like any of us. Directors are gifted to bring the right balance of stardom and uncompromised script thats results in perect commerical action movie with convincing drama/emotion that connects with audience.

Learning not just acting but every facets of cinema..... Then entering into acting with all those learnt stuffs in his mind and end result - first film itself hits a sixer - PARUTHIVEERAN...... The same thought process has lead him to such a successful career as an actor even though he is a third tier actor.....
