Back in the early 90s my dad had a ZX Avantage, and my sister had an AX. The Citroen dealer was not far away and i always loved the XM! Interesting car. Love the vids, cheers Al!
We did not know how good we had it back in the day now its a load of people sat in their cars for two hours at the supermarket charging their electric cars. Absolute wank!
6D diesels is fast becoming one of my favourite channels on CZcams- along with salvage rebuilds- really enjoyable and always amazed how you can get what looks like something from a breakers yard running and driving 👍👍👍👍👍
That xm would make a good daily driver.its crazy them yokes when they were new would limp along lop sided, park her under a tree for years and works fine
You have all the cars I love, Mercedes *124, *126 and *463 series olds Citroëns and Peugeots, Vw Golf Mk2 and 3, Volvo V70 etc… your backyard is a dream to me! ❤
I wasn't having a good day today and then saw this, which has cheered me up no end. I also now want an XM. This channel is quickly becoming one of my favourites. Keep the videos coming especially the will it run style with a clean up. Cheers
Love the video’s and your humorous presentation ! - I’ve watched quite a few now, very entertaining. If I had a yard like that, I would also be always buying things, we like lots of toys..
A 2.1 litre , 3 valve per cylinder, non turbo diesel. A round of applause please to the Citroen engineers who ticked all the Citroen ‘quirky’ boxes with that set up. 😅
@@Studio-ft1zi Correct, the XU family but given the links, sharing of components and co development between them, eventually evolving into what is known as PSA,it's a minor point really, how much input did Citroen have in the development?even a little sort of makes it theirs,as they see it. The DV4-6 engine range is/was used by around ten different manufacturers all claiming and naming them as their own.A Volvo salesman once actually tried to tell me that the engine in their S40 1.6 diesel B16 was better designed and more durable comparative to the 1.6 diesel in a focus, not realising that they are the same engine. I can't recall (too much wine😁)if Citroen ever claimed to call them Citroen engines, maybe someone could correct me?
@@notpoliticallycorrect1303 few years before they will start producing 605, as far as I know, Peugeot bought bigger part of the Citroen. They have used Peugeot 605 platform to make XM. You can see how much they look alike inside and engines are the completely same of course. I am owner and huge fan of 605 so I had to jump to answer here hahaha. Enjoy your wine 😁👍
that citroen is cool, just think people pay a fortune for airbags and a kit to make their car go up and down these days. citroen were making their cars do it back in the 90s. i remember when they first came out i also remember the advert for them years ago i went in one and the ride comfort was superb you could barely feel any bumps in the road and with the bosch pump they run on wvo.
they made this system back in the 50s, and started to use it in small lower middle class cars that was in a class somewhere just a bit above a VW Golf.
Good video. Do love a phase one XM. Have owned a late phase 1.5 (and a phase 2 auto). Considering these diesel hatchbacks weigh 1490kg, a non-turbo must accelerate like a glacier.
Hi Al, love the videos keep them coming. Don't know what your budget is for microphones but vast majority use RODE wireless microphones as they have "top quality" sound👍. Keep up the good work. All the best from Glasgow, Scotland
My mum had a BF who had a BX 4x4; Beautiful car but not without it's faults....It got to the point his bill was so large at the garage in the end they squashed it - Went to auction in the end and went for £75 iirc :(.
Oh the sound of the mighty Xm rocking upon start up The 2.1 diesel injection pump was bespoke due to made by Lucas and had some gigery pokery electronic fly by wiring imobilser gubbins that was expensive to fix Hence it put me off buying a magic carpet barge and ended up with a bx
I see an Y3 2.1 Diesel - I immidiately press "like". Alas, looking at the mold I fear it might be quite rotten underneath.... Also, looking under the hood - I immidiately see a dome on the passenger side which is about to pop and smash through the hood. Repair that immidiately!
Have a soft spot for a old pishy mans car. To the point a have a C5 x7 3.0v6 bi-turbo auto hydralic suspention. Every time a say am selling it a take it a good run. And fall in love way it again. Awsome thing 😂
Brilliant as always mate, see you have a trotter car , wrong couler obviously and no writing on it 🙄in fact the only thing that is similar is three wheels lol 😂👍🇬🇧👍🇬🇧
On these the "handbrake" is a foot pedal to the left of the clutch, released by a plastic handle to the right of the lower dash. Fantastic cars to drive, so comfortable.
I have a strange fascination for them old French cars, the old diesel engines aren't very refined but they'll run forever, there might even be a similar video to this in around 50 years time when most of the car has rusted away
Defo early phase one.. non turbo wasn't a UK engine, UK rhd all had 2.1td 12v at 110bhp. This one is about 88bhp.. when the cars on low there is no suspension movement. Sphere condition can only be checked when its at ride height.
Great channel 6D good real world content no bullshit no pretence what you see is what you get, most importantly no fxckin ads. If your stuck for a ride home why not chuck that Lion battery in beardy’s plastic pig and take that home? Lmao.
I used to have a v dependable MkI Xantia with the turbo version of that engine. I damaged rhe fuel pump sticking bio-diesel in the thing. Shame cos that engine's as tough as old boots otherwise.
I am looking forward to the re-birth of this Citroën, it should be a good one! PS the spelling of the title is a little bit off, you are probably dyslectic like I am..
Hi. Do you have a eBay page? So I can keep an eye what’s coming up for sale please Love the whit and humour in your vids. Keep them up please Cheers Ja
The old XUD is just bulletproof 👌
Is a 2.1 an xud ? I thought the xud was 1.7 to 1.9.
It sounds like an xud.

Love the xm.... had a xantia years ago.. would love a xm now .. great looking car
No real doubt that it'd start, PSA used to make decently reliable diesels once upon a time... :P
Xud are a great engine, probably the best 80s diesel

Will do 👍
Remember seeing alot of these around when they were new, good towcars, back in the day!
well if you do find a xm make sure it has no rust around the strut tops the car was known to snap and send the top of the shock up through the bonnet
Thanks love your channel down to earth ❤
That started up brilliantly impressive
These were one hell of a comfortable vehicle
You sounding like Wurzel Gummidge is as fun as listening to the old diesel
I’d love to register that here and drive it about.. absolutely beautiful.
Great work
Just noticed the W638........ 💕 I drive a 2002 vito. Those early v class were gorgeous.
What a lovely diesel sound
Yet another cracking video Al, very much looking forward to the next one now...👍🙂👍
What a car....and what a channel...brilliant...
Lovely Jubbly video, especially the Citroën XM.
2 Mercs next to it as well. I wish I would have the space to get cars and work on them🙂
