During covid quarantine, Home Free did the Sea Shanty Medley from their homes, and this medley went viral across the internet. Ubisoft saw this and approached Home Free about writing a song for the game. Adam Chance, the man who took lead on this song, loves sea shanties, and Home Free had him write this awesome song. Great reaction! You do not need to apologize for talking and stuff. I love people to be open and honest, and sharing our pain and struggles can be a blessing. Be yourself, and God bless you!

Since you say you like cinema so much you should definitely check out their official music video. Many have remarked that it is a 4 minute mini movie. It also has a longer version, actually the full version, of this song. And the guys are dressed as pirates in it. You will love it. When Home Free released their "Sea Shanty Medley" during the lock down and it went viral, the game company Ubisoft saw it and was so impressed by them that they reached out to Home Free and asked if they would be interested in creating an original song for their game (which was in development) Skull and Bones. Of course they jumped on that and their one and only sea shanty enthusiast, Adam Chance stepped up and wrote this master piece. Ubisoft introduced them and their song at the Summer Game Fest along with the lyric video which is what we had until now. This video is that live performance at the summer game fest. I really like seeing this live version as it shows who is doing what parts. Tim & Chance are doing the really low notes in the beginning. Chance has his guitar & Austin is playing a mandolin. Adam is holding down the percussion sounds. And Austin & Rob are adding a fuller sound with their harmonies. Now you need to watch the official video Home Free just released for "Skull & Bones". Also check out Peter Hollens & Tim Foust doing "Misty Mountains" from "The Hobbit". It is awesome!

The group was founded by AdM Rupp, beatboxer extraordinaire, his brother Chris, who left in 2016. The group has been together for 20 years. Ubisoft heard their Sea Shanty Medley that was released during the lockdown and liked it so much that they contacted Home Free and asked them to write a Sea Shanty theme song for their game.

Home Free has not done a cover of Rains of Castamere, but Geoff Castellucci has on his solo channel. Geoff is co-founder and bass singer of VoicePlay, another fabulous a cappella group.
There's a big crossover in the fandom for Home Free and VoicePlay. The biggest differences are that HF leans into country and has a manager and producer. VP is completely independent -- the closest they have to a manager is Geoff's wife Kathy, who is their production manager. Being based in Orlando and all of them having performed at various theme parks early in their careers, VP will often use make-up, costumes, and sets in a way that earned them the nickname "theater kids of a cappella."
People often compare Tim Foust, bass of Home Free, and Geoff. Both are excellent singers, use slightly different techniques to get their voices into the bassment, and are friends. Actually, a cappella is a friendly community with a lot of crossover. HFs cover of Elvira was a Geoff arrangement that Tim tweaked. Members of HF have appeared in VP videos, like Just Sing, Bro Country Top Ten, and Top Ten Movie Themes.
If you like gaming, VP has done Dragonborn Comes from Skyrim, the Halo theme, and a new one that's about to be released. With your little girl you could watch We Don't Talk About Bruno. (Living near Disney World, they've done a lot of Disney songs.)

Great video. Homefree is amazing. Been waiting for the game release for too long but it is supposed to be released on playstation on Feb 16 2024. . The song you asked about Rains of Castmere was covered by Geoff Castallucci ( sp?) Of Voiceplay and is great. Hi! Home Free is a group of guys (and their back stage support and families, of course) that are very down to earth and “real.” I think part of what makes them so popular with the home fries is that, even with such amazing talent (both as a group and individually), they are warm, funny, approachable and genuine. EVERY song I’ve ever heard from them has left me smiling and that’s rare. I hope you’re as blessed by these guys as I have been!

Chance (playing guitar) has always been fond of sea shanties so when Ubisoft contacted Home Free to write a song for their new game, they definitely called the right band. Chance has written a winner! The bass (Tim Foust) and 2nd tenor (Austin Brown with mandolin) are also song writers. Love from a Canadian subscriber.
Home Free is also ego-free. They don't have a lead singer, whomsoever sounds best singing the piece is the one who does.

Since this is for a video game they have used instruments to make this more commercial. All the drums and other sounds are made by the beatboxer Adam. Home Free is usually all A cappella and if they use instruments you will see them. Otherwise it’s all them.

The boys of Home Free did a sea shanty medley during Covid and it went viral. It attracted the game maker Ubisoft to Home Free and they asked Chance to write a shanty for their new game Skull and Bones. It’s a banger! They have a lyric video of this and then a new video just came out for the song. It’s like a little movie. Tim, the bass - (has shorter hair now with some gray) and Austin (high tenor with red hair in a bun) are songwriters too. They are incredibly talented men. There is no lead singer. And they sing all genres of music. Enjoy the journey!!! 😍💀☠

Geoff is a very talented singer who plays several characters in his film. I highly recommend you check him out. He does use instruments in his solo videos. There is no on lead singer - it is decided for each song. Sometimes there is a single lead, other times they take turns IN a song. But it is always predicated on who's voice is best for the song.
The newest video for this is a long version of the song with a movie type video. You might want to watch it, just because it is a great video.

Also there is only one song I recommend waiting until you know who's who in the group and vocally what the guys can do and that song is mayday. Trust me it is worth the wait but if you want some suggestions. Check out sea shanty medley, man of constant sorrow. I also highly recommend you check out some of there live concert videos fans have taken from concerts. Also check out there beatboxer Adam Rupp's drum solo videos he does live and at almost every concert they do. And the guys have a funny side. Check out there Butts Remix and there cover of brother.
This song they use a guitar and a mandolin. And at times they feature other artists and they will use an instrument. But most all of their song are 100% accapella.
