trust me Bognor doesn't want a silly outer harbour, we have one in geat yarmouth it's made no money and it has been barely used. keep your pretty coastline, that natural beauty cannot be replaced! thanks for the interesting video x
I am too!!, my family have lived here for years and my parents now in approaching 90 are bitterly aghast at how Bognor has changed into almost an inner city deprived estate by the sea.When i was a child 40/50 years ago it was nice,safe and clean. now in my mid fifties im sad to be waiting until my parents are gone ,God forbid, but then i will get away. Have you thought of publishing your collection ? im sure its a good read and probably the only true account of what has , or has not happened to Bognor. Mark
I was raised in Bognor from age 1, but have lived in Texas now for over 30 years. This video reminded me of all the grandiose but BS plans that resulted in Bognor's decline. I'm reminded each time I visit when I see the vanishing pier! But in 2009 the last time I was there, I sensed the town had more "life" - a rebirth? I hope so.
Iv noticed the more attractions there is in butlins the less the tourists are spending in bognor, our arcades were on the verge of shutting down while butlins had 5 arcades. Mc donalds and kfc moved from bognor high st, but you can get a burger king in butlins among others so no need to leave for food. We need to make something worth leaving butlins for the day for tourists
Seems to miss out the huge violence and the gang fights kids have on a daily basis. Such a shit hole. Can't count the amount of fights i've had there. Not a single intelligent nice person have i met there either.
Thanks, very interesting. I remember the millenium project for the new pier and all the drawings that Mike Jupp did on the subject, alas it came to nothing. Let's hope the future's brighter. At least we're getting a new Supermarket. It's not Asda, but it's something new....
