Poilievre claims Trudeau is "losing control" with "screaming and hollering" while answering question

  • Speaking during question period on Wednesday, Prime Minister Justin Trudeau and Conservative leader Pierre Poilievre had a heated exchange about rising vehicle thefts in Canada.
“Auto theft has run rampant under this prime minister. He's now throwing a cape over his back, claiming that he's the hero on auto theft. But it's actually tripled in Toronto and it's up by 100 per cent in Montreal after he brought in catch and release and house arrest for car thieves,” Poilievre claimed.
In response, Trudeau said that his government’s solution to auto theft is to "Roll up our sleeves, pull together partners from across the country and get to solving it.” He also said Poilievre’s solution is to “Throw his hands up in the air. Blame a raft of political attacks on us and continue to see that he's not putting forward any real solutions.”
During the heated exchange, Poilievre remarked “Oh wow, is he ever losing control of himself? Oh, my goodness. Screaming and hollering like that.”

I mean sometimes it is the fault of predecessors and could take a leader in a democracy decades or even a lifetime to change those things. A dictator can work much faster. But I do agree that he should blame who or whatever is to blame for not rectifying the mistakes made in the past right now. It’s easy and simplistic to blame something on your predecessor. It reaches the voters easier. It’s all a theatre basically, overly simplified dialogue to play the voter.

Instead of always trying to blame the past why not do something about it? People tend to hang onto all the past and use blame to make a point......let it go, move forward and get off the high horse and make canada better, making it great will be a tough nut to crack considering the last 8 years!

During the last Conservative government's time in office, it was the G8 Legacy Fund - $50 million used to spruce up a cabinet minister's riding, nominally for the purposes of celebrating the hosting of the G8 summit in 2010. The auditor general found that Parliament wasn't informed and no paper trail existed to explain how the projects were selected.
The resulting controversy was big enough that even a young parliamentary secretary named Pierre Poilievre had to field questions about it.
Given that experience, one might have expected Poilievre to be more guarded in his response to the Liberal government's ArriveCan troubles. Instead, the Conservative leader is committed to the idea that the ill-fated app - "ArriveScam," the Conservatives call it - is indicative of a profligate and incompetent government.

But Trudeau does not seem to have a practical solution for the issue of affordability in this country. He also has done numerous things to undermine trust in his decision-making at this point.
It has been a hard road for any government, particularly through COVID, so I don’t think he deserves blame for everything. I do still think it is time for a change.

What I have gathered from watching these snippets (and I could be very wrong because that is all I'm seeing is a small slice of these meetings) is that one side will ask why this is bad, or how is the Prime Minister going to fix this and the Prime Ministers answer is always some form of "We will do XY and Z for Canadians and we do XY and Z for Canadians. We will solve these problems", but I never hear him say an actual solution or how they are currently doing XY and Z. And isn't his job if he's been in office this long to already have solved it? Not just now say they're going to find solutions to solve said problems?
