    Perfect sneaker! Good thing is they come in both - normal and wide fit. Regular XA Pro 3D was not for people with wider feet so the V8 one is perfect. Basically it is improved old XA PRO 3D which looks more dope and offers a bit more support on the ankle and are a bit more comfy. I would strongly reccommend them 🤙

      @mcrispi2963 Před 3 lety +2

      I've worn the older XA Pro 3D for years. I'm a 13 wide so so the 14 worked. On the V8, is the wide size a true wide?

    • @Filip1361
      @Filip1361 Před 3 lety +2

      @@mcrispi2963 27.5 cm is the length that fits me the best no matter the brand and shoe model. 27.5 is 43 1/3 if we speak about Salomon. I have a narrow and small foot, for me regular XA Pro 3D is perfect. V8 on other hand I cannot wear in Wide Fit, you can clearly feel the difference with extra space on sides and upper part. My foot just has to much space in wide fit. I work with Salomon sneakers, and most of my customers with wider feet like the new V8. Most of them are the ones who were usually buying bigger number than they need so they can get extra space in width ( clearly a stupid idea, if for instance Speedcross 5 is to narrow for you, you're not gonna buy a bigger number, you will go for wide version or would just look for different model). V8 works great for most of those, and usually people are going with "their" size. So I would say true to size.U could just get a number (which is actually a 0.5cm) bigger if you plan on wearing them on long hikes, just due to possible leg swelling and thicker socks. Stability of the sneaker is great, even though I personaly do not wear V8 Wide, even that one locks my leg to the ground. Chasis is great, nothing new with 3D chasis, well known for awesome cushion, and stability. Rock hard. Toe area has protection, vertical running and climbing is joy with them, overall sneaker is great for hike and long walks. If you want my personal feeling, compared to with let's say X Ultra 3 Wide, V8 wide really gives you the wide feeling. Due to corona shit, most of big entries to my store are brought to minimum, i only have V8 Wide atm so i gotta stick with regular old all black Xa Pro 3D. This is both sales and hike/ trail run experience. What I have from Salomon now are X Ultra Trek, Xa Pro 3D GTX black, Speedcross 5 GTX, Sense Ride 3 LTD for road trail, and Supercross Blast. I did wore X Ultra 3 and Speedcross 3 and 4 before.

      @Filip1361 Před 3 lety +1

      Also, just so you don't get the impression that i am doing a Salomon commercial lmao 🤣, there are some models that should be avoided. For example the new Cross Hike is shit. Awesome in theory but the quaility is shit. We returned the whole shipment of the model due to lack of quality. On their site you can read some of the Cross Hike reviews. For others sneakers, even if someone complains or sneaker gets ruined in 99/100 we approve new ones or money return 🤷🏼‍♂️ Go with V8 you won't regret it

    Nice video! What do you think about the durability of the lacing eyelets? Especially the last eyelet nearest to the forefoot, which lacks the plastic covering; and it seems this will cause it wear out with the constant friction with the laces.

    • @rmkvisions
      @rmkvisions  Před 3 lety +1

      I don't think you can go wrong with either, to me this is more of a hybrid between a trail runner and a hiking shoe whereas the x Ultra is going to be more of a specific hiking shoe. A little bit more stability built into it with less cushion. To be honest they are both very similar!

      @@rmkvisions thank you for the quick reply. I think it's a very comfortable shoe, the downside is that it gets torn apart rather quickly. I've read that in various reviews on the web, is that true?

  • @Michael-nr8ur
    @Michael-nr8ur Před 3 lety

    What about the durability of the threads/soles? They're low profile and look like they would wear out long before the shoes would.

    • @rmkvisions
      @rmkvisions  Před 3 lety +1

      This is a contragrip compound from Salomon that I have never had an issue with. This compound will last longer than a more aggressive compound or lug depth/pattern. That is a common mistake many people make thinking longer lugs or a more aggressive pattern will be more durable, it is typically the opposite for these types of shoes - Just as driving all year with winter tires on your car will wear down much faster than just All season tires, the rubber compounds are normally much more soft and have less surface area which will break down the lugs much quicker than a full length outsole. You should be 100% fine with this outsole much before you loose the real heart of the shoe, the cushion and midsole. If your outsole or upper of your shoe is broken down then you lost your midsole 100s of miles ago. I hope this helps!

      @@rmkvisions I walk about 1,2km to and from the trails on paved road, the rest is 7 - 9km of sand, gravel and rocky trails. I try to average 7kmh when walking, i.e. I drive hard with my legs. In winter I average 35 - 40 km per week and in summer 55 - 60 km.

    • @rmkvisions
      @rmkvisions  Před 3 lety

      That’s a good bit of walking! Sadly, a lot of the shoe companies including this one do you write their shoes for about 400 miles and if walking a lot 5 to 6 months before an outside like this will wear out. The compounds they are using are a lot softer and more responsive nowadays and do not last quite as long :/

    • @duprelombaard7961
      @duprelombaard7961 Před 3 lety +1

      @@rmkvisions What a pity. I have previously used much cheaper shoes and had to replace them annually. This year I decided to go for a more expensive pair to see if they would last longer, but they only lasted half the distance of the cheaper options, albeit a lot more comfortable and with wonderfully dry feet during our wet Mediterranean winter. Some comfort in that.
