So I went and read the manga. All I can say is that I really don't like how it ended. Both for the MC and FMC, it really felt like they were just hurt and now are expected to go on with no hope, only a vague idea that they should move on, but no indication that things will get better. While realistic, it doesn't leave you with a sweet or even bitter-sweet taste. If I wanted to experience a depressive life, I would just to outside and experience my own life. Also, the FMC got traumatized as well, even though she redeemed herself at the end. Now that is just plain cruel from the mangaka.

@@LunarKun Not really a woman response, it is just the general attitude of society towards sexual assault against men, there is a reason why dropping the soap is a common joke, jokes about men getting raped in prison are common.
Men being victims is played for laughs exactly because people think, "He could have fought back" or "He probably liked it", there is a reason why the statistics around sexual assault lean towards women and it isn't because men don't get assaulted, but rather because there is stigma and shame about being assaulted as a man.
While women get treated with care when they come out with their stories a man is more likely to be the butt of the joke.

Read the manga up til recent chapters, and changes focus on which characters are the focus. The girl gets hurt by the woman who did that to him, so now she is left with emotional scars even though they tried to seem like they both came out as better people, the girl was ultimately more hurt by the end of it. Now the black haired guy friend has a arc where he gets into a relationship with a depressed idol who tried to jump, he stops her and they get into a relationship, finding out the industry had hurt this girl and she has body dysphoria and she s/h's and overdoses. So this just seems like a manga who tries to show people wanting to be there for traumatized people but ending up traumatized themselves. The black haired friends arc is still in its earlier stages but I dont think id be far of saying the author wants there to be a running theme. So if you want to read a misery based manga read Sensitive Boy

This is a pretty seríous manga. It doesn't really make you feel good, but I think it's very adult in the way it tackles trauma and feelings of being different and wanting to be normal. Just as a heads up, the arc doesn't end in a necessarily happy way but I think that's fine, the main character has come to terms with some very important things and it looks brighter than before.
I really appreciate how grounded this manga is with treating a male rape victim as seriously as we treat female victims, men are often the butt of the joke when it comes to sexual assault, there is a reason why people make jokes about dropping the soap, but if you made joke like that about women everyone would look at you like "WTF is wrong with you".
Male sexual assault is not funny and people should stop joking about it because while humour can be a useful tool for coping with trauma, when used by people who aren't the victim comedy is alienating.
I really hate how she reacted after hearing his story, she wanted to know, and then you can see how all of those subconscious biases come into play, everything from thinking "Well it was a pretty women so did he like her?", of course he didn't like her she raped him, "Why didn't he scream or resist?", he did try to resist but he was attacked by someone he trusted, by someone bigger than than him, he also most likely was panicking and in fear.
She struggled to reconcile her internal and cultural biases with the reality, she was not able to see from his perspective and hurt him, she lacked the maturity to handle it appropriately, the bias of seeing men as strong and therefore unable to be SA'd is deeply ingrained in societies across the entire world

Even if I strongly disagree with the comedy part to some extent. There is a blatant asymetry in SA cases handling between man and woman. There is a slight bias to consider a woman inoffensive and passive and consider a man strong and forceful.

Another thing, she's the one that got the wrong ideas about him thinking he could've enjoyed it or just let it happen. This is why I hate this gender thing. They act as if all boys and men are supposed to be strong and oppressive or something
I agree I didn’t like how she tried to make him the villain when a lot of the things was escalated because of her friend. So that was unfair like I get this is meant to be a bit more of a realistic way of how this stuff breaks down I still hate it.

She shouldn't have been confused at all when she even has proof of him freaking out multiple of times around her, but knowing "humans" they tend to overthink stuff and argue that he only did it with her and not the teacher or whatever.
When your a little kid, you arent strong yet, and its a feeling of powerlessness which would be even more haunting for a boy. Ppl just dont use their brain to think about how these things affect you. I do read the Manga consistently, this is the kind of Story, you don't expect from Japanese Mangakas, since they usually don't talk that much about Rape and Sexual Harasment in that sense. Especially when it targets the other Gender.
