- Following the success of Hurst components in Oldsmobile's 442 models, Oldsmobile, in collaboration with Hurst Performance of Warminster, Pennsylvania, produced special-edition performance versions of the 442 or Cutlass Supreme, the Hurst/Olds. The Oldsmobile Cutlass, including the Hurst/Olds and 442, changed body styles to the "Colonnade" body style, which was used until 1977. The Hurst Olds was based on the semi-fastback Cutlass S coupe and featured an interior with swiveling Strato bucket seats separated by a console with Hurst Dual-Gate shifter for the Turbo Hydra-matic transmission. The sole engine offering was a 455 cubic-inch Rocket V8, with four-barrel carburetor and dual exhausts, with the 250 horsepower, L75 U code engine. Also available was the L77 V code 455 with 270 horsepower available only with a four-speed manual transmission. Although Pontiac's SD 455 cubic-inch engine lasted one more year with 290 horsepower, 1973 was the last year for Oldsmobile's high performance engine. The '73 model was the first Hurst Olds to be offered in two color schemes-black/gold or white/gold. A grand total of 1,097 Hurst/Olds were produced for 1973 with about 60% being white/gold and about 40% being black/gold under option code W-45, unless ordered without air conditioning, which was option code W-46. Hurst-only options included a console mounted digital tachometer, air shocks, and alarm system. Hurst Engineering does it again as seen with this 1973 example. Notice that beautiful combination of black with gold accents and pinstripping. The embossed front seats that swivel out toward the door and the padded landau roof are other excellent features. thanks very much for viewing this original surviving 1973 Hurst Olds Cutlass.

Great 1973 Hurst Olds Cutlass.. These cars look really cool.
This is a special beast! It is soo 70's too. I really like that embossed leather on the seats. I didn't know the driver's seat could swivel. It has a great aggressive stance, even parked! It seems all well appointed too! Thanks again, Warren!!
Porschedude8 Yeah, those swivel embossed seats are a surprise. These Hurst Cutlass's are very beautiful and the color combo is very attractive as well as the extra padded vinyl roof. Perfect ! Many thanks.
I remember when GM came out with the new style in 73, and what a great looking car this was. My friends Dad bought a new 73 Buick Regal with a touring package and a 455. That car really moved
califdad4 I remember the radio ads for GM products with that new colonnaded styling. It doesn't seem that it was over 40 years ago. Now, that Buick Regal has always been another beautiful car several years running. And of course, the famous 455 would make anything move. Thanks for sharing and commenting.
***** No it doesn't seem like it was over 40 years ago! That Buick was bought new in like Oct 72, they had just come out, it was Loaded and my Buddy bought it by to show me and my Dad and then said, I have to get this home, Mom doesn't know he bought this and it needs to be home when she gets there! It became her car and she said it was one of her favorite handling cars. His Dad loved cars and bought a lot of them. His Mom ( a 1921 model) is still around and gave up her CTS Caddy about 5 years ago
califdad4 Good story ! My father-in-law had a Buick Regal and it was a very comfortable and smooth ride. What a surprise Mom had when she got home ! Shall we say, a lovely car for a lovely lady? Many thanks for commenting.
Nice looking car. I used to not like the style of the two door models as much as I did the four doors and wagons. But I've only recently started to appreciate the styling. Nice cars. :)
Jason Carpp Very beautiful Cutlass indeed. I think they look best as a 2-door coupe. And, I always love the wagons. Thanks for viewing.
Man this a beautiful Hurst Olds and I love this year of Cutlass. I have a 73 out in the pile that was found in a private lake after it was drained for repair to the impoundment dam. It was the center of a homocide investigation because of the bones of young female found inside . I power washed the car and stuck a battery in it and the lights came on and the ignition was stuck in the on position and I could operate the turn signals and run the dimmer switch .Even the horn worked. The tires were able to hold air also .It sat in about 25ft of water that was fed by a cold water spring so the water temperature remained low. It survived nearly intact but the windows were rolled down but were manual crank windows so I could roll them back up. It is painted black and has white stripes and it has the same interior . But its kind of brittle the apholstrey is and has a real musty smell . I've sold parts off of it but people say that it feels really creepy around it.I've got Cutlasses in the pile but is getting harder to find cars to bring in for salvage of these model years . The last one that came in was a 77 and it came in from New Mexico. But I still keep as much of a inventory of Cutlasses from 65 F85s to 80&90s Front wheel drive Calais And such. Thank you for the video on this wonderful example of a Hurst Olds Warren .
dougslittlediesel I bet that Cutlass was creepy after a body was found inside. What a tragedy. It's amazing to me about how most everything worked on this car when it was pulled out of cold water after such a long time. At least you were able to sell parts from this wreck. Thanks for enjoying this Hurst Cutlass. It is a most attractive Cutlass around and glad I found it.
Yeh the people who bought the property had a inspector come out cause they thought thr dam looked shaky so they drained it to repair it and found the car . It was last registered in 1976 and was found 2011
Anyways I today went and bought a 1954Chrysler Town an Country wagon that has a 352 Firedome V8 and has a later model Powerflite push button tranny .I bought it and a pair of 53 Windsors 4dr sedans. One has a mid seventies slant six with 2 two barrel carberators and the other one has a Flat Head 218 Chrysler six that runs and has Fluid Drive and it still works. The 54 wagon is lowered and the Slant powered Windsor is set up like a rat rod.The other one is just faded paint and rust. I bought them at a estate auction along with some other shop tools and a 1974 1850 Oliver Diesel Tractor that runs but smokes a bit. The cars were driveable and I hauled the tractor and odds and ends. The Owner Died of Cancer and his wife is selling everthing out to to move next to her in Texas down by Corpus Christie Tx. Kinda sad it was because they moved to next to Table Rock Lake . Ill sell the cars and tractor .I will clean them up and put them in the front sale row. Wanna Buy One .Make me an offer I can't refuse.
dougslittlediesel That 54 T&C wagon is rare and sweet. But since it was downgraded to a lowered sled / ratrod, I couldn't or wouldn't want to mess with it. But still, a great find along with the other treasures you bought at the estate sale. You're always on top of things - finding this, finding that. Also, you can fix the oil burning tractor and use it or flip it.
dougslittlediesel Oh man, but what a tragedy. Family never knew what happened to the young lady all those years and what was left was skeletal. All those years the car and body found inside rested in this pond. I am pleased to know though that you were able to salvage the car for it is a rare thing.
Landau tops were very rare in 73, We had A 73 Light Metallic Blue Cutlass Supreme with the White Landau top.
Yes, they were rare in the early seventies but eventually were found quite a lot on cars. My 76 Cutlass had a landau roof which was silver over dark blue metallic paint and my 76 Lincoln has a full vinyl roof although it's not a landau covering. Your 73 Cutlass seems to me a real beauty.
The only thing I would change on that car is the name on the title
I hear you loud and clear ! I love these Cutlass. I bought a new 76 Cutlass Supreme Brougham fully loaded and Man do I wish I still had that car. Glad you enjoyed this one Paul and thanks.
good old fun days. even if you got stranded, most times the tool box in the trunk, got you home. NOT TODAY, ENJOY, B.U.T. FULL RIDE☆☆☆☆
Good old fun days for sure. Glad you enjoyed this Cutlass and thanks so much for your comment.
Nice has newer rims though. I had a 1973 H/O.
I see this sometimes when a restorer will substitute parts that will work. Most think no one will notice like you did. But the finished vehicle looks great. Thanks so much Mark for pointing that out and viewing. I bet you miss your 73 H/0
Hood emblem and front fender badging are wrong too.
Collanade had a stainless band across the top not a vinyl top
I think the colonade style refers to the roof line with the slightly slanted B pillar.
Sorry, This is not an original 1973 H/O. Hood, side badges on fenders, side stripes, hood ornament, seats are wrong.
So, you're saying this is a clone. Not surprised. I see clones often. Thanks for your comment.
Welcome
what kind of hood should be on it? I'm looking at a 1975 H/O W30 and the hood is very close to this one and we know without a dout it's correct
@@slingshot9150 ... the '75 was like this one, a '73 had a set of bolt-on plastic or reproduction fiberglass louvers mounted on top of the hood.
Not to bash on this very nice Olds Cutlass but the Hurst and 442 versions have a larger quarter window aswell. The standard versions had the smaller window like this one.
