The very best looking restomod colonnade 1973 Cutlass 442 in existence! Backed with some serious power upgrades and chassis to handle better than any new car!
Hi Rick, High praise for the looks of this car :-) Lou
I have always typically hated the loss of bumpers, but THIS... This is absolute perfection.
Restoration is cool, I guess, but let's face it, that Olds was a terrible driver even when new. I love that you gave it the foundation (I feel) it deserves, to make it drive far better than 1973 could have ever imagined. If my dad still had his '73 Charger, I would ship it to you guys next month!
🖤🖤🖤🖤🖤
Hi Cowboy919, High praise :-) Lou
The front end on this car is amazing!
Glad you like it :-)

Lou Costabile these 900Hp, 2 door cars need to be authorized as Uber taxi. imagine bombing down the back roads in a 1973 cutlass/chevelle +6 speed. instead of my 200Hp lacrosse; at 1:00 in the morning

great custom 👍. As I said custom, it makes me mad when people will talk down on a person that do their car the way they want, like cars that will have custom paint with 26inch wheels and a person will get mad like they messed they own car up. to each is own, you only live once , so do the car any way they want. They don't have to be original.
Hi Tywon Allen, Glad you enjoyed this one :-) Hope you find many more cars on the Channel you'll enjoy Lou
I have lots of respect for you man. Wish lots of other people had this perspective on car culture. Keep doing what you do man!

My grandpa had a Monte Carlo (76 or maybe 77) that was optioned with swivel seats like that. For older and/or handicapped folks they made getting in or out SO much easier. I’m a little surprised that more manufacturers don’t offer such an option in this era with as many of the aging baby boomers there are - but with the SUV being as insanely popular as they are they’re spacious enough for them to get in & out of pretty easily.

Lou… I’m going back to your old classics. This car is amazing. I still like the old stock one that you recently put out. Very cool.
Hi JONNIE, Happy to read you're enjoying the episodes :-) Makes me feel good, and thank you, Lou
Great idea ditching the work bench front bumper. A body color rear bumper would be equally cool. Love the car.

I personally always admire OLDS CARS ever since my folks send me to study in the States. ALL OLDS models are built with great pride .The owner looks like a very nice person , please LOU say hello to him from CAIRO. He is taken great care of his OLDS. The car looks brand new and I like it very much. In the streets of CAIRO you don't see any OLDS CARS. THANKS LOU FOR SHARING THIS WONDERFUL VIDEO. It is amazing. I like it very much. Appreciate your efforts showing all great cars. Please have a wonderful weekend. Looking forward to meeting you in the STATES as soon as I will be coming. Thanks LOU.

“I’ve had a few” I swear every old head says that
Awesome restomod! Shame there isn’t Oldsmobile anymore. I love those body lines.
Happy to read you enjoy this car :-)
I owned at least 25 cuttlass's from 68 to 76 and I loved all of them they were very powerful machines but I never had a cutlass with nitrous, I was just too scared of blowing my engine up,my 71 cutlass 442 which I worked on had a 455 rocket engine with a Holley double pumper and a crane cam with a 2500 stall speed converter I installed in it and a 411 posi rear which would lift the front end of the ground and the rear wheels would squeal and I took it to atco speedway in New Jersey in the mid 80's and it ran low 12's in the 1/4 mile, it was my favorite old's that I owned 😎👍❤️
Hi John, You clearly love your Oldsmobiles :-) Thanks for viewing and sharing your story. Lou P.S. Did you see this one? czcams.com/video/D-eTmhtJmRo/video.html
I like it very much. It is amazing. The color also is very beautiful. Thanks Lou for showing me that video. I am planning to come and visit with you when I will be coming to the US. THANKS

In 1987 my best friend had one and we made rear flares and put 305/50r15 on the back and lowered car 2" in front cross member off the street. The engine was a 421 from a old car we found abandond.
We were 16 years old.

I had a 73 Olds Cutlass like this black with white interior with the 350 rocket and it was a fun car
Bruce Kelley so
I had the '74 Cutlass Supreme coupe, white with cranberry red sport wheels and cranberry red vinyl roof and interior. 350 4 bbl Rocket. Still miss that amazing car.

Happy to read you enjoy the looks of this car :-)
I've been a Jeff Swartz fan for years. This guy is the real deal!
Hi scryla2000, Thank you for viewing and sharing your knowledge, Lou
I never did like the '73' body style still prefer my '71 but, I love what you did with the front end on this one. Cleans it up and makes it much more sleek then stock. An LSA ain't a 455 but, it does sound delicious.
Hi remo1366, Glad you like this one :-) and thank you for sharing your 1971, that's a cool car too, Lou
Yeah but that 73 cost 1/10th what that 71 does...... You can buy a 73-78 GM A body running and driving for 3k all day long, you can't even look at 71 roller for under 8k.
"May the Swartz be with you."
:-)
This car could have been built especially for me. Great mods on an already good looking car. Go to the top of the class, Mr. Schwartz.
Dear Professor Graham, High Praise. Thank you, Lou
The builder should be proud of this one.
A '73 Cutlass 442 is not one of the 'Usual Suspects' when one talks about the Classics from the era, but this car will stand tall against any of the Classics.
I love when a Pontiac, Mercury, Oldsmobile, AMC or Non Chevy/Ford/Dodge is done up like this.
I love it.
Hi Tommy Ribs, Glad you read you love this one :-) Hope you see many more cars on the Channel you'll enjoy, Lou
Lou Costabile I just hit the subscribe button Lou. I look forward to checking out some other builds features on your channel.
Hi Tommy Ribs, Welcome to the Channel. Thank you so hitting subscribe :-) Lou
🔥 should've did the rear bumper too
Hi Papercatchn O, Interesting idea.... Lou
Is it just me or does this car share the same body with the Chevy Laguna S-3?
Hi proudinfidel, Hmmm, not sure, maybe a Viewer can share some knowledge on your question. Lou
proudinfidel not just you, this car the Laguna s3 and the Pontiac can am are all pretty similar. I have heard them referred to as collonade bodies.
Yes, these mid-sized 73-77 GM A body cars are called colonnades. And they share most of the same sheet metal.
Side view is also similar to my 1973 Regal .
proudinfidel yes it does
HOLY COW ! That custom was done just right....you pick the Best of the Best Lou ! Its a Monster too !!
Hi marcus field, Happy to read you enjoy this build :-) Glad you're along for the ride, Lou
my mother had this car when i was young but it had a half vinyl white top on it. i believe she sold it. GREAT CAR!!!
Your Mom has great taste.
theres a monster in the jewelry box...geeez
NICE :-)
Ain't that the truth 👍👍
'The Midnight Phantom'.....
Hi David K. Courtney Sr., Nice name for this one :-) Lou
+Lou Costabile, Thanks, clean and simple vid of an upgraded American Classic.
You're welcome, Lou
My first car was a 73 Cutlass Supreme. Mostly blue with a completely rusty trunk lid. Plumed a windshield wiper pump to spray bleach on the back tires for extra special burnouts! Ya never forget every detail of your first car! This 442 is amazing! You have an incredible talent. One day I hope to be able to afford to have something crafted by you!
Hi Eddie Jr, Thank you for viewing, sharing, and adding to the story with your bleachy burn out machine :-) Lou
Lou, that's true, no one could've ever told me that I'd ever own a Pacer, but I did, lol.
It happens, I had a Plymouth Horizon 4 door for about 10 years :-)
I was in till i saw the LS..... My Olds has a Mondello (built by Joe) as every Olds should have a Olds. Aftermarket Olds block is needed for us Olds guys.
Royal Highland Crusader .. I agree and I believe that the car is technically no longer a 442 it's missing the 4 barrel and the 4 speed.
Scooter Mike , later 442 could be a turbo 400 with duel exhaust if i remember correctly
too bad this guy turned his 442 Olds into a Chevelle
Had a 455 in my 65 Cutlass. Getting rid of it was the best day ever. Blown LS power is way more fun, actually stays cool and gets 3 times the mileage.
Phillip McKee , im sure your LS runs good. Chevy copied the Ford 351w to get the small block right.
this is one bad bitch.....
doesn't even sound cam choppy

Love builds like this. I really appreciate it when somebody builds something different and does it well. Please don’t take that as a slight towards Camaros, Mustangs or any of the other popular model choices people go with for a Pro Touring build......I love them as much as the next guy but there’s just SO many of them that have been done.

I fell in love with cutlasses when my uncle owned a 72 Viking blue convertible. I always wanted a 73 because that's the year I was born. This one is awesome and just like the Resto mod I had in my head. VERY NICE.

she's pushing a little oil out the pipes.....
I was being polite.....
Oil? Are you high?
nope, just not blind like you.....
Although the Cutlass is smoking, that's not oil dripping from the tailpipes.. it's condensation that builds-up in most exhaust system, caused by a cooling exhaust & the humidity in the air. It's pretty common anywhere that has high humidity. And the smoke could be unspent fuel that's being reburnt in the catalytic converters, once the flaps in the muffler starts opening. Which changes the air flow mixture & confuses the Mass Air Sensor for a few moments. It's all about the tuning, so the unspent fuel is probably not an issue when you drive the car past 20mph.
I doubt that's oil. It was late October in the video so it was pretty chilly out. You'll get lots of vapor coming out that time of year.
OOHH Man ! The front end is beautiful. What a striking design ! and well crafted too.
Hi Cybair, Glad you enjoyed this one :-) Thank you for viewing and sharing. Hope you see many more cars on the Channel you'll enjoy, Lou

From a viewer from the UK, that is just a piece of art. Let me take a second to wind up my lower jaw. Beautiful craftsmanship, I like how you integrated new technology and it still looks as though it's come out the factory from 1970s especially with the interior. That engine bay😎😲.
HI JRP Romeo 156GTA, Welcome UK to the Channel. Thank you for the wonderful comment. Hope you see many more cars on the Channel you'll enjoy, Lou

Lou, I'm with you on the taillights. I always preferred the back end of the 73's over all others!
Hi EvilBraTT, Nice :-) Lou
Yes! That body style gave it a low slung, wide look.
Love those tail lights also. Another bad looking set of tail lights was the first year they came out with the Chevrolet Monte Carlo! Grew up on Oldsmobiles near Detroit, so love those Cutlass's!
May the Schwartz be with you ! Nice ride
:-)
73 to 77 A-body's aka "colonnades" are awesome and this olds is beyond amazing
Hi Skyler Lucky, Glad you enjoyed this one :-) Thank you for viewing and sharing, Lou

best looking 73 in a while
Glad you like this one :-) Thank you for viewing and commenting, Lou
Beautiful 442, the body modifications are tastefully executed and those forge lines give it the perfect ride height. It's way more horsepower than I would want, but that exhaust system note is music to my ears.

I'm in love. So unique, elegant, and a total beast. Wish yall would drive it a bit
Happy to read you're "in love" :-)
I have a stock 73 442, and I have been trying to figure out how to clean the front clip up, and drop the front bumper.
When I bought the car. The front bumper was off from a small accident were, the 5 mph shock was pushed in. No big deal.
The front bumper on a 73 is considerably smaller than a 74 but, the 73 bumper is still 125-135 Lbs! Also, it looked so, much cleaner with out it. Except for the inset natches for the bumper. I thought RS Camaro split bumpers to replace the boat anchor org! So, I saw you're car a few years back, and Wow! You figured out how to clean it up really nice! I mean you hit it out of the ball park!!! I have owned a few of these cars over the years. My first 73 cutlass, I paid $90 for.
Except for brakes, tires, tune up, and a oil change. I drove that cutlass daily for over 5 years till the rust finally done it in!
So, I went looking for another one, and then another one. By the late 90's they started to become, hard to find! I would buy classic car sales guides, and 64, to 72, 442's were always in these sale catalogs. Because, the people who own these car's Love these car's, and they don't come off them! Which wasn't always the case. That first one I had, I had people come up to me, and tell me it's not a 66-72, it's worthless junk!
So, most of them were driven, then scrapped! Now, I have people come up to me, and tell me how F'n cool my car looks, and sounds! I always thought they did! My first one was the same deep burgundy with white stripes, as the one I have now. Again, great job on the 442!
Beautiful, and 900+ Hp! That's just bitchen!!!

Very interesting video! I remember my neighbor had a Laguna with swivel seats like that. White car, red body accents with a red velour interior. He beat the ever living shit out of that car and traded it couple years later for a new Firebird. I was just 10 at the time, but loved cars just like everyone else. He was nice enough to take me on a bunch of joy rides in several of the cars he owned over the years.

I am generally not big on this body style, but with these mods it's a beautiful car. Amazing what lowering and removing the front bumper can do.
Hi Kevin MacNutt, Glad you like this one :-) Thank you for viewing and sharing, Lou
Sharp, I like the lines on this car. I don't believe I've seen one of these before. The swivel seat is a great idea and i agree they should still be doing that. 900 hp wow, tons of power!

Lou Costabile it’s getting really hard to find buildable cars any more. AZ used to be a treasure trove for these because we don’t have rust issues like they have back East, but it seems like they’ve all been bought up. I was trying to find something as I’ve been looking for my street strip car since High School, but always seem to have financial problems keeping me from doing anything. The past year has been one of the worst as far as my health is concerned! Hopefully I’ll get there some day. In the mean time, thanks for sharing your story!
The cars of this era were designed, todays cars are big jelly beans...Beautiful car..
