This was an Instagram challenge. Pau proposed four songs and the fans chose this one. She went off to learn it and a few hours later this appeared.
She should do that again sometime.

To put this in context, this is a kid who was challenged to learn a new song and record this in 3 takes. She captures the emotion of the song perfectly and knows the vocal nuances of singing. She is the drummer in a rock band. Blows the mind.

Pau is definitely one of the few musicians with an angel voice, breathtaking lyricist and on top, can play drums.

Pau has this innate ability to reach into your heart & soul & make you FEEL the emotions of the song. Just an incredible performer. But covers aside, she is also (along with her sisters) an amazing songwriter in her own right. The Warning lyrics are powerful, emotional, thoughtful & intelligent. I can’t get enough of these sisters music, they are exceptional. Thanks for this and please do more of The Warning!

Boudy, I waited so long for your 2nd reaction to The Warning and never would have guessed it would have been this performance BUT you just can't go wrong with ANY performance by Dany, Pau or Ale.
The Warning and Angelina Jordan are just wonderful, but if you want to add another incredible vocalist to your list look up Dimash "SOS" and "Stranger" but The Warning is definitely my favorite.

Your reaction to this and Survive are incredible. I have been a fan of the warning since 2018 and I have seen them live 5 times. I am flying to Monterrey this Sunday to see them play in their hometown next Wednesday. You will love their Teatro Metropolitan live concert videos. All the videos are on their CZcams page. You need to react to any of those songs they did at that concert in Mexico City last year. My favorites from that show are Evolve, Dust to Dust, and Animosity but the whole concert is incredible. The drummer, Pau, is not the lead singer. Dani on guitar is the lead singer and she has an incredible voice. They have their own version of Enter Sandman at that concert and her voice is amazing. You will be blown away at how their sound has matured as they have grown older.
If you want to see their first video when the bassist, Ale, was only 9, check out their cover of Enter Sandman from 10 years ago. It has 25 million views. You head will explode (guaranteed).

Great explanation of Pau's vocal abilities. The last pause was, yes, ill-timed. The softness in her voice with the next line always brings tears to me. The mist build thru out the whole song, and when she goes so soft.....my eyelids can't hold them back any more.
A phone, a slightly out of tune piano, and the most raw interpretation of Creep I've ever heard... It's magic

Yes, it was a challenge. Fans voted between a few songs and this one won. She went off for a few hours then posted this recording. From memory this was the third take to get one she was happy with. Pau on piano is always exceptional. She has some others that are not covers, Black Holes and Show Me the Light from their 21st Century Blood album. The performances from Dakota Bar are pretty good. Their last album doesn't really have a piano solo but until recently most of their songs began on that upright piano with Pau since that is where she writes at. Then she will show it to her sisters and the three of them will work on the songs to improve the lyrics and add instrumentation to take a song from a ballad to a The Warning song.

Spot on analysis!! Pau has this inane ability to take practically anyone on an emotional roller coaster with her vocals. If you've heard any of the other ballads she's done of their own stuff, you'll know what I mean! If you haven't, try out some tunes like 'Black Holes' & 'Show Me the Light' (from The Dakota Bar 2018), 'The End' (from QOTMS), and recently '23' and 'Revenant' (from Live at Teatro Metropolitan 2022)😍👍👍

When you are truly talented, all you need is your voice, the slightly out of tune home piano and a phone, and you can still slay it.
I liked how you explained the subtleties in her singing; the term that I like to use in cases like this is, musical maturity.
Pau has written dozens of emotional songs. It feels to me that she was able to adopt this song as her own and bring out its emotional depth with her skills and feeling, well-honed on her own material.

You've hit on so many factors about Pau's delivery of this song that we love so much. She does pull you in during her ballad performances, and she is usually the one that sings The Warning ballads, harmonizing with her sisters in an ethereal way that just caresses the ear so nicely. Dany, the guitarist has the power behind her vocals and a range that is mind boggling at times, she as a front woman can convey emotion in a different, yet effective way. Both are uniquely gifted vocalists. We still have yet to hear a song that is Ale's own to emote with, as she is mostly singng backing vocals and then sings certain songs that when Dany is under the weather or needs a break during a show. Ale has a lower register and smooth tone, giving us a somewhat mysterious quality.

Her vibrato brings me to tears every time. It's a rare type of vibrato that sounds identical to the best violin vibrato used by professionals. It's so fast and precise. She's one of a kind, never to be duplicated.
Nice reaction! I have been a fan of The Warning for over 6 years. As for recommendations the very recent recording from the VMA of More and Evolve are great. A must watch for every fan of The Warning is the full Metropolitan concert from 2022 also released recently.

I have been listening to many TW reactors . I have only seen 3 of your reactions that are so engaging , informative and connecting.
She absolutely nailed this! mine and many others favorite cover of this. one of the few good things to come from the pandemic, was this and Dany's acoustic covers. Sadly Ale didnt do any covers on her base as she doesnt like singing solo but she did do other activities. if i remember right, there was like 1500 or so of us watching her perform this live and im guessing more than a few myself included that were choked up by this. You shoud check out some of Danys covers like her Billie Eilish covers -2 on guitar and 1` on the piano, or Danys cover of Break In by her idol Lzzy hale... it was awwesome. cool reaction aand insight thanks cioa for now

Her fry is going to be primal and emotionally devastating when her voice completely matures in the next few years. Yes, the micro tones and harmonics that auto-tune destroys. She’s fantastic. She sounds a lot like Haley Reinhart to me. I can imagine Pau recording some stuff with Post Modern Jukebox with her incredible sound. I’ve done an A and B of Pau and Haley doing Creep. It’s something else. I think Pau modeled her performance of Creep on the Post Modern Jukebox recording with Haley. Pau recorded her’s in B&W too. Perhaps Haley is one of Pau’s inspirations.
The piano a little bit "out of tune" is their home piano. If you listen Breathe (bonus track of the error Album) the song is recorded with this Piano

I know you may be enthralled with Pau, right now, but their are two other musical genius sisters in this band you are sleeping on. LOL
If you want to hear Pau sing like this to rip your heart AND play drums, and Alejandra slay the bass, watch their song "23" from Their concert at Teatro Metropolitan, or see them ALL sing with Acoustic guitars, watch "Revenant" from the same show. To see Dany sing and do the same, watch "When I'm Alone" from the same show. And to see them fire up the crowd and both sing lead i=on the same song, watch "Disciple" from the same show. Basically any song from Teatro Metropolitan is AMAZING!! as is all their live performances.!! Future Legends!

I know they are WAY beyond covers, but I would love to hear them do "Would" by Alice In Chains- Dany would make Layne proud hitting those high note dirty screams. Pau is so raw and pure here- so emotional. I wish we could hear Ale sing a bit more- she has a reserved, yet beautiful voice. Amazing sisters. Can you imagine being their parents???!
As usual you gave her some of the best complaints that she may ever get, now she is a drummer in a rock band so she has some experience with the groove I guess I can explain, but she knows what to do and she does it......Awesome......
Good as this may seem, I compare it to the master class performance by Haley Reinhart with Postmodern Jukebox, and just can't measure up.
Haley has an INCREDIBLE voice for sure...but her version is a 20's "Flapper" style mix of Betty Boop meets Madonna. The song is about longing for acceptance and feeling worthless in the face of society. Not a great mix. Hardly the song for upbeat Frivolity.

I HIGHLY recommend “Fullsom Prison Blues”. Every time he goes low, you can’t fathom how he goes lower and yet lower all the while making, in my opinion, the greatest rendition of this song. Johnny Cash would approve and be jealous at the same time.
Get your popcorn ready and keep your clothes on because not only does he sing and arrange and play all the music. He also shoots and edits all of his videos.

When it's all said and done, Pau is going to be mentioned in the same breath as other "multi-hyphenates": Paul McCartney, Prince, Stevie Wonder, Todd Rundgren, Pete Townshend.

Oh yes, I have been seeing many another cover of this, some with more, maybe much more, technical vocal tricks. But Pau...oh yes. As Pau exclaimed after...YES!!!
I agree, the vocal fry, the gravel, was just enough. As with TWB, who so beautifully add those little moments you love and wait for to all their songs, Pau fills this version with many such moments.
And...substituting "very special" for f**king (which was one reason I had been turned off from this song) was brilliant. Indeed until Pau owned the song, I didn't much like it. (Much like Somebody I Used To Know, until Pentatonix owned it. Check out PTX on that or their versions of Hallelujah to see what I mean.)
TWB has demonstrated that you don't need such to make brilliant music. Thanks Pau!
Vocally: her ability to sing right to the note, purely, no sliding into it, and to sing the note purely, no vibrato, is truly special. So very special. Few seem to do this, or able to do this. See Jackie Evancho sing bits from two arias on Chinese show, where each final note is a brilliant example of this quality.
Finally, I love watching her shape her mouth to the notes and words BEFORE she sings them. A beautiful face and an even more beautiful soul here.
