    Pretty sure thats a Borg Warner turbo. As they were the primary supplier of turbos for Ford. At least for the truck and large SUV platforms. For the smaller ones, such as the 2.7 Ecoboost engines and their cars, I believe they use Garrett.

    Awesome video, would this be a similar setup to the kit for the transverse 3.5L like in the SHO?

      Thanks!
      I cant really answer your question. I know there are more than one rebuild kit out there but if your 3.5 is the ecoboost Gen 1/Gen 1+ than yes, it would be the same. The Gen 2 should be the same, I just can't confirm that it is. Good luck with your build my dude!

    QUESTION PLEASE ANSWER AS I CAN NOT FIND ANY INFO ANYWHERE ON THIS !!i noticed theres a little washer that goes onto the shaft just before pivot washer it is shown on the top row of parts but not on the bottom 26:50ish by chance is the bottom row of parts the drivers side turbo? the reson i ask is because on my drivers side turbo it would not all fit in the housing but without that washer (on the drivers side turbo only) it all fits bolts down and turbine wheels turns nice and freely then i took apart again and started tightening the 10mm bolts into the housing and just when it started getting snug the turbine wheel will not turn at all so just wondering if you do not need the washer on the drivers side???

      Hey there. So I believe I know which washer you are referring to. First off, the turbo is identical parts wise for both sides. The reason that it is shown in the old parts on the top and not in the new parts on the bottom is because it is mounted to the shaft assembly when packaged. The one up top is in view because I laid everything out as I disassembled.
      Go to 28:05 in the video. I just unwrapped the shaft assembly and you can see the "bezel" on the new shaft. The washer I believe you are referring to is on the shaft with the bezel. You can see me remove the bezel and "said washer" at time 28:35.
      As far as why you are not able to rotate the shaft after torquing the housing, there is definitely something dragging internally or something is not in the right place. You did clean the CHRA housing and al reused parts before reassembly right?
      I hope this helps. If you are still confused, feel free to send me another message. Good luck!

    So is there 2 rubber gaskets/o rings for the compressor wheel? I didn't see you install them on the outside of the compressor wheel.

      @EvilFateIndustries  Před 5 měsíci +1

      There is 1 large o-ring and one small one. In the video, Look at the reassembly preparation portion of the video. The smaller one is installed at time: 29:10. For the second larger one, it appears as two when its sitting at the bottom of the mat (and at the top later) but the o-ring at the top of the mat is the same o-ring as the large one on the mat to the left. There is also another one on the left sitting below the coolant fittings. Those are both the same and both are the old ones. It appears as though the install is not on video though. If you go to time: 35:44, you can see where the large one is installed, you can see it installed between the aluminum ring and the "rusty colored" portion. Does that answer your question?

    I have 204k on my turbos. I pulled a 10k trailer for my business over 160k of those miles. My turbos are still working great, im just going to rebuild them for preventive maintenance.
    Do these kits offer more HP/Torque?

    • @EvilFateIndustries
      @EvilFateIndustries  Před 4 měsíci +1

      I believe they make a claim for increases but I would imagine it is related to quicker spool times so you have more torque and power (earlier in the power band but not "more"). If anything, I would say the gains are negligible for those of us that tow. They do offer full turbo upgrades however, which do have impressive gains. I noticed maybe 1/2 mpg difference when towing. A lot of factors could have affected that. Good luck with your rebuild!

    Update??

    • @EvilFateIndustries

      Engine runs great and pulls strong. Throttle response is fantastic and turbos are much louder but disclaimer: I did add an SCT Tuner and downpipe so keep that in mind. All in all, great success. Very happy with the kit. Definitely worth the time if your on the fence.
      Cheers.

    100k on a turbo is really nothing at all. I’d have real concern over buying an after market rotating assembly and issues with balance and shaft motion.

      Your not wrong by any means, but when I took it out, it had more play than I was comfortable with reinstalling. I wanted to rebuild with a stock assembly but was unable to source a new ford kit so the rest is history.
      Ill tell ya what, if she blows up, you'll be the second to know!
      Prost!
