The K-Gun Offense that Buffalo started running was because of the late Cincinnati Bengals coach Sam Wyche. Here's why: the year Cincinnati went to the Super Bowl under Wyche they used this offense with a mix of some No Huddle thrown in as well & they kicked the Bills ass twice. Marv Levy complained about it to the competition committee & Wyche was forced to abandon the No Huddle(somewhat) & low & behold Levy started using it later. Talk about Petty.
Also great breakdown as always. The 45 Quick Base is a pretty good run play as long as you have good blocking. The drawback to the Run & Shoot is the opposing defense can match it speed for speed. Bill Belichick figured that out when he was the NY Giants DC & they played the Detroit Lions who were using the R&S. He figured that using Dime personnel, they would have a shot & they won 20-0.The next breakdown you should is the Pistol Offense/Formation which was created by former Nevada University coach Chris Ault back in 2005

Facts fam..folks didnt know the k gun and run and shoot have similar pass concepts ..my fave 2 teams growing up bills and oilers....belicheck also knew jim kelly wasnt as good at reading coverages as some of the other top qbs ..kelly froze what he saw coverage wise and used it on his second posession ..every time the giants came out they were line up in something different..belicheck rushed sometimes 3 dlineman and even 2 at times and flooded the passing lanes.which is why thomas rushed for 100 yards....fun fact..mouse davis started the run & shoot at portland st in 1971

I watched the ESPN 30 for 30 episode Bill vs.Bill & Lawrence Taylor talked about the meeting the defense had before playing Buffalo in the Super Bowl. He said Belichick told them, we gonna let Thurman Thomas get 100 yards & the wide receivers getting nothing. The Giants ran the Nickel 2-4-5 defense & Andre Reed & James Lofton couldn't get open & on the offensive side, the Giants had the highest time of possession all through the game at 42 minutes

Interesting concept from Weak Flood that no one knows about…as soon as you throw the ball to the option out route (or deep dig if you motion it the other way), the WR cuts inside, so you essentially have a route that always beats man and can be anywhere between 5-20 yards
