"A Long Island Iced Tea? There was no alcohol in that" -Famous last words haha
There was a drink made at a bar I used to go to called a three mile island. It is a long island ice tea the size of a double gulp. That is basically two big gulps in one.
Long island will f#$% you up
"You could drink this all day, every day."
"Oh no you couldn't."
-Long Island Iced Tea
The downfall of many college aged drinkers.
@@bennowagarski8183 That was my first alcoholic drink. It was on my 22nd birthday. I guess it wasn't as strong as it was supposed to be. Because I ended up drinking 3 of them that night. They were in a 16 ounce cups. But I did eat while I was drinking. I felt fine the whole time. Woke up the next morning with no hangover.
As a bartender myself, i've seen a lot of people misjudge long island iced tea's, like aw yeah, this is like drinking soda and after 2 or 3 glasses they're almost falling out of their chairs...
Fellow bartender here, Long Island are crap drinks and the people who drink them end up being the ones puking in the bathrooms for us to clean up. Hate them.
Or piss next to the urinal.. Hate them as well..
Festoniaful What all is in a Long Island Ice Tea?
Kiara Animefan we maken thema's like this. (in cl's) 2 rum, 2 wodka, 2 tequila, 2 quantreau, 2 gin, 2 lemon juice, 5 simpel strip and top it off with coke
Wow. Lot of alcohol. Thank you for answering. :)
The Long Island ice tea is a sneaky bitch. It has every kind of alcohol in it and tastes like it has none, when done right.
+Oliver Lane was my first real drink, drank 4 on my 21st, mistakes were made by friends who let me do it
+Oliver Lane Exactly!
It is also served cold with ice, so there is almost no aroma from alcohol vapor. This is as oppose to drinking regular shot of something.
They miss mint julep. I loooove that. perfect for slow summer day
+Oliver Lane I like to pretend that I don't like them, but really, I LOVE them
They really are sneaky lol
Oh these poor Irish darlings. They don't know the cruel deception of the Long Island Ice Tea. Literally everyone says "I could drink these all day." *dead drunk after two*
There is no bigger compliment than the Irish telling us good job on the drinks. Well done fellow 'Muricans.
honestly though fair play to america long island ice tea is the shit! and the classic jack and coke. American alcohol is deadly no one can actually dispute that.
+terri-louise Lawlor aye, worst of them all is Everclear, do NOT drink it straight. It's made for mixing, it'll catch fire if you're not careful and it'll actually give you burns in your throat straight.
+effigytormented thanks for the advice! deadly actually means really really good though. I'm not actually sure I know what ever clear is tbh. it sounds like the name of a bottled water.
Here's some specs if you like: Everclear (alcohol) Everclear is a brand name of rectified spirit sold by American company Luxco. Luxco Brand is made from corn. It is bottled at 151-proof (75.5% ABV) and 190-proof (95% ABV)
+Hex America doesnt do beer well but we do spirits very well
"There is absolutely no alcohol in that, I could drink them all day". My friend, we've all made that mistake
Wibble 215 its a painful mistake too
Long Islands are very deceptive drinks since you barely taste the alcohol when they're made right. If an establishment makes them well, they're my go-to, but I know my limits... 3-4 over the course of a 2-band set at a bar will leave me nice and buzzed the entire night while still sober enough to remember it and not make an ass of myself.
It was my drink of choice when I was in Okinawa. I would have about 7 of them and 3 jack and cokes every night at the bar.
@@TheRealAb216 - You my friend are an Alcoholic. I can knock back about 3-4 of them, but I have to drive home, so ? 😂😂😂
@@ericechols5806 I don't drink anymore outside of a glass of wine and a beer with seafood or red meat.
first time I have ever heard them say "well done, Americans."
warms me heart.
they love our ice cream too
And the chilis. Ryan thinks we do do chili’s well
Long Island Iced Teas are dangerous as fuck. My mom drank five of them once, and then she couldn't get off the floor because the room was spinning too much. XD
Bri Dunigan hahaha omg xD
One of the first Long Islands I had was made....incorrectly. A huge glass and they forgot to put the coke or whatever in. Came to the table crystal clear. I was stupid and tried to down the whole thing....I got so sick....
I was just about to comment the first time i ever drank a Long Island Ice Tea, I had two, extra long and i remember the next 10 minutes and absolutely nothing for about 9-10 hours. It was BRUTAL.
God why drink 5?
Those things are pure hard liquor its literally a drink the bartenders will hate you for because they automatically assume your just some filthy drunkard who wants to start somthing.
One time, I drank three Long Islands and had two shots of fireball in the span of a few hours. I never did that again after that night. It wasn't worth the awful hangover that I had the next day. :P
"I could drink this all day, every day."
No...not even an Irishman could do that.
And all the Americans laughed when the Long Island Iced teas came out.
It’s all fun and games until you stand up.
Long Island Iced Teas are delicious
They're a great drink, I love them but if you don't take it easy, you will get shitfaced real quick.
Nyx Culp Iced teas will fuck you up.....lol
Exactly 😂😂😂
I love how they put sincere effort into their makeup transformations and getting an actual skilled person to mix the cocktails :) Love you guys~! Much love from LA
+Valentine Amoretti Yeah, fellow Californian here. I love FACTS videos.
+Valentine Amoretti Aww shucks man... Thanks!
Long Island iced tea will f*ck you up really fast.
Sonya CH yeah I know! I had one on an empty stomach and I was tipsy as fck lol.
Long Island Ice Teas usually have gin, white rum, tequila, vodka, triple sec, a type of syrup, lemon juice and a splash of cola. So about 6 types of liquor lol, dangerous drinks
it's sooo yummy, but will have you on the floor quick.
+Shawnie Ellis haha very true!
+Alison O'Grizek First time I had it friends encouraged me to try it. I'm a light weight when it comes to drinking. Had two and I was staggering when we left the bar. They all thought it was funny. It really doesn't taste like it has that much alcohol in it!
+Jeff Morse Lol they reall do sneak up on you. In my old college town it's a specialty at on of the bars, they give you a 32oz long island for $6. If you drink more than two you'll be face first on the floor lol
Alison O'Grizek Damn. That's a good deal.
Why no Old Fashioned?
Or is that like a national secret we're not allowed to export.
+Sphere723 It's a B.E.Autiful drink but it's also quite well known here in Ireland. We thought we'd try some lesser known drinks so our contributors wouldn't have tried them before
+Facts. Why do I touch myself at night?
+Sphere723 to distract yourself from the fact you're sleeping alone
+Sphere723 lol yeah thats a classic!
+Sphere723 I was wondering the same thing! Being from Wisconsin, Brandy Old Fashions are our mainstay.
The two lads at 3:03 are the two fellas who'll you'll end up getting fucked up with because they keep pretending the drinks are nothing and an hour in are fucking plastered.
+Steve Fennelly that'ss what you want at a mad one
+ImMablo Not when you're drinking whiskey! You'll end up in dead or a ditch haha
that's how you know it was a pure mad session
+Steve Fennelly just had a couple buddies drinking with me like that a week or 2 ago. didn't realize how deep I was until it was too late
I think you guys seriously need to do a "Irish people get piss drunk and explain ______" because that would be amazing.
An Irish Drunk History episode would be lovely.
I think they did. Drunk American and Drunk Irish histories.
Any drink that has a "Limit 2" next to it on the menu is one to try. Long Island iced-tea is that drink!
What fucking hipster bars have you been going to where they limit you on LIIT? The bar I worked at had no limit with any cocktail EVER.
Seriously. I had like 8 on Thanksgiving Eve a few days ago. I did black out but still.
New Orleans is crazy? Given the amount of alcohol consumption in that city alone, I'd think the Irish would feel right at home.
I did not intend that to rhyme.
New Orleans...the city where cirrhosis of the liver is listed under "death by natural causes."
I'm laughing my ass off , he took a sip all calm then looked at the guy and said "Don't do it.."before coughing uncontrollably LMFAOO
Wait, wait, wait, that redheaded guy actually *liked* something he's eaten? That never happens, ever.
That's because he didn't eat something. It's an irishman testing some drinks, that should say something... ;)
blonde girl with the red lippy is gorgeous! 😍
shes ma cousin
+TheDeadlyZipper why does he/she have too?
Nadia Mohamed I agree it is a possibility
TheDeadlyZipper wow get over it don't be rude
I know. She looks a bit like Scarlett Johansson.
That mixologist is far too fancy for this channel.
That's the hint that this channel is trying hard and doing good.
long island is my absolute favourite cocktail followed by blue lagoon. could drink those all night
Agree. Blue Curacao for the win.
is blue lagoon similar to AMF's? Was hoping to see that blue monster in this video
No a Blue Lagoon or a Blue Hawaiian are a more tropical drink. Usually with a fruit juice mixed in. Pineapple in the Hawaiian and lemon in the lagoon. Both if done right are very refreshing and shouldnt be too sweet, or sour with almost no alcohol taste and able get you tipsy fairly easily.
Oh! Well sounds like I'll have to try it out! Sounds like a good times kind of drink
snapcracklepop971 definitely is a good times kind of drink. you hit a couple of those on a night out you should be good to go (Y)
I almost died when I saw the sazerac. That is my go to drink. I love the little bit of absinthe in that shit. LOL
Long Island Iced Teas are dangerous as hell lol. They creep up on you and before you know it you're done. Same goes for an Alabama Slammer and a Tequila Sunrise. Happy hangovers guys! xD
Side note: I get distracted by Julian, can't help it he's attractive. Not sorry about it lol.
Long Islands are so fucking good, but it's sooooo easy to over drink those... One moment you're sipping on a nice drink, the next you're passed the fuck out, around a toilet, at a McDonalds lol
a very rough, but fun night lol
:)
It looks like all of us that have replied to your comment can relate! One of my Top Three cocktails.
😂😂😂😂
What the shit, Ryan liked stuff?! I was expecting a lot more sass from him!
Long Islands are my jam. It's nice to see people tasting them before judging. I've gotten some "what a basic bitch!" reactions from people when I order them.
You cant knock the Long Island Iced Tea. It's one of the heaviest mixed drinks you can get, outclassing quite a few straight liquors. If anyone has a problem with you drinking it, calmly point out that if you had a shot of rum, vodka, gin, tequila, and tripple-sec, then chased it with only a half-sip of coke, you'd get a pat on the back for drinking some good, hard stuff. The only difference with the long island is that you were smart enough to use 1 glass instead of 6.
LIT is only drink I ever order when I go out to a bar. They're good and they get the job done pretty quickly.
Vodka, rum, gin, tequila, triple sec and a splash of cola. Usually served with a lemon slice on the glass.
I've never had any of those. Only heard of the mai tai. Are they sweet drinks? I probably wouldn't like them if they're real sweet.
I might have to give those a try sometime. If I'm drinking at home I usually have rum and cherry coke or absinthe. The rum more for sipping, the absinthe if I want a good buzz (or more).
My favorite videos are where everyone is enjoying themselves. Just feels good all around.
Long island ice tea - - - "there cant be any alcohol in this, cause i'll knock this back"
.
> Nexk minute
Long Island's will seriously have you shit faced hahahhaa. Love them though!
Nice to see we Americans can at least do one thing right.
Right? !
Your username is perfect to describe the Americans.
I've watched many food and drink-related things in different react videos from around the world. Americans seem to be most universally lauded for desserts, barbecue, and alcohol. When I say desserts, I don't mean crap like candy & twinkies - but cakes, pies, you know, real desserts.
We do cocktails so well directly as a result of Prohibition. Back when it was a black market industry, the quality standards were super low and the stuff tasted like shit. Speakeasy's started mixing fruit juices and other things in to make the homemade booze more palatable.
Americans invented and mastered the cocktail before the 1920s. Prohibition ruined the cocktail because then it was used mainly to mask cheap or rotgut alcohol--throwing the measures and flavors off.
There's a great book on this called 'Imbibe!: From Absinthe Cocktail to Whiskey Smash, a Salute in Stories and Drinks to "Professor" Jerry Thomas, Pioneer of the American Bar' by David Wondrich. It's not just a fascinating history, but has all the recipes as well.
*_Long Island Ice Tea is the wolf in sheep clothing, a.k.a. Strong Island Ice Tea. If you haven't had it before be forewarned that if you slam a few of these you'll be in trouble for sure really quick. I'm guilty of it!_*
Is that what a Manhatten is referred to everywhere else or just in Ireland? Never heard them called New York Manhatten's before.
+Christina Doxstader It should have read New York: Manhattan, as we tried to choose cocktails from different cities in the uS :) Sorry!
+Christina Doxstader I'm American and have always called it diesel fuel, lol. Yes, we also call it a Manhattan. :)
+Dave Claghorn yea long island ice tea is only called that because Ice tea is much different than long island ice tea
manhatten is just one of the boroughs of new york city
Long Island iced teas are the best. I'm in Australia and they're my favourite to get when I go out
Nothing is more evil than the complete enjoyment of a perfectly created Long Island. If done right, it will have zero booze taste and that is where it will get you. Every time.
ALL of my insane stories from the last decade start with, "I decided to have a Long Island Iced Tea..." Downhill from there. I refuse to drink them anymore. Ambulances were involved last time. :(
"That'd bring a person back to life" - XD
I remember the first Long Island iced tea and I drank 1/3rd of it when I found myself hanging on to the wall to keep from falling. My first manhatten, I could during an 8th of it.
I want to know if Blackbeard and the Silver Fox were able to stand on their own power after that. I once took down a 300lb man with my famous Long Island Iced Teas and they don't weigh that together. :D
Care to share the recipe?
Sure, but understand that it was formulated in a bar and the measurements weren't exact. You need:
Vodka
Gin
Rum (white)
Tequila
Triple Sec (white - don't use Mezcal!)
Sour Mix
Cola (I use Coke)
Use a tall glass or a large tumbler filled with and ice pour 1oz (30ml) of vodka, gin, and rum. Next, pour 1/2 oz (15ml) of Tequila and a splash of Triple Sec. Your tumbler should be about 3/4 full. Pour the Sour Mix (you can substitute lemonade) until the glass is filled about 1/2" or roughly 1 1/2cm from the top. Pour a small bit of Coke in there, give it a little stir, and find yourself a comfortable seat. :D You may have to experiment and that's half the fun. There's a school of thought that doesn't include tequila or triple sec, but my..ahem..research has found that they add a little something. Let me know how it goes and if you'd like to try anymore of my cocktail recipes.
+deaconsmom2000 I'm also willing to donate my Boil-o formula and my Manhattan in the interest of International Relations.
+deaconsmom2000 all the recipes are welcome! Thank you
+PretentiousRed I'll have to figure out the conversions for the Boilo. When I do. I'll post them to my Google+ instead of spamming here. I'll shoot you a message when they're posted.
its just the satisfaction i get from them enjoying American things that makes me smile
The pale girl with the dual ponytails and the loud red lipstick is so perfect. I'd spend my paycheck on her company everytime. If you read this darlin' know that I truly admire you.
Souls in hell would get air conditioning quicker. 😂😂😂
This is the best facts video. please release an extended edition with full reactions.
Is it weird that I feel a bit of pride watching this as an American?
Also, be careful if you plan to drink those long islands all day every day. If you do that you'll never make it to a night.
First off, HUGE props to Giovanni!!! a most professional and commensurate bartender!!
Someone who not only knows his craft, but enjoys it.
Well done sir, you are a member of a small guild, be proud of the work you do, and keep honing your already great skills!!!
Secondly, big props to Facts for a great video. Awesome subject, well presented, and the video and sound was sooo well matched. Quality work!!!
2 snaps up to the production team on this one!!!
A sazerac isn't made with Bourbon, it's made with RYE whiskey.
+R.A. Bobby B I'll note first that I very rarely see someone ordering a sazerac at the bar I frequent, but of the few that do I've seen about half ask for rye while half ask for bourbon. Don't know if it's just a thing in my area or what's going on. Same way old fashioneds and manhattans can be made with bourbon or rye. For sure goes in a rocks glass though.
***** It just depends on if they want a real sazerac or a fake one. It was created about a mile from here and the real ones are always made with Sazerac Rye whiskey.
Thank you. It's like putting katsup on a piece of bread and calling it pizza.
So is a true Manhattan. Rye.
How does something like this get dislikes??? Everything about this series is awesome!
0:59 "Your goat must be made of iron." Well yes. Yes it is.
gut*
Long Island iced tea starts off nice and innocent, but in the end will have you blubbering like a baby... LOL!
What? No mint julep?
+Bob Papadopoulos Not a huge fan of them (I dislike mint), but you can't forget them when talking about US cocktails :)
***** Bourbon is the quintessential American spirit, and the julep is the most Kentucky use for it. Just seems like a given it should be there.
Bob Papadopoulos Yeah, I was most certainly expecting an old fashioned (rye or bourbon would work) since it was basically the first American cocktail, but what can you do?
***** The Pisco could've been left out. Sure, it's from San Francisco, but the essential element is pisco brandy... which is Peruvian.
+Bob Papadopoulos EXACTLY... its a Peruvian liquor
"Long Island Ice Tea. You could drink that all day everyday..." Yeah it tastes like tea but after more than one you will be so hammered. LOL
Watching Irish people drinking is more entertaining than anything on television here in the US.
I think that American television just sets the bar low, especially recently
Im in love with the girl who always has the red flowers in her hair, and the red lipstick lol shes so gorgeous :)
Cocktail: The one good concept that came out of the Prohibition Era.
seeing Ryan smile melts my ice cold heart just a bit.
"Yeah that'll bring some one back to life, or kill them."
Lol. That's actually not a bad description for America itself! XD
OMG the girl with the flower in her hair. Perfection.
I'd like to see a video of Americans drinking Irish shots lol
so shots of whiskey... done
I absolutely love you guys! I'm not a big youtuber but i couldn't stop watching them. You should definitely do authentic chinese food.
Irish people play American Drinking Games!
I got an original cocktail from a southern American "borderline alcoholic" it's called the elixir of Jane
2 cups Jose cuervo silver
1 1/2 cups makers mark
2 1/2 cups ameretto
4 cups absinthe (real absinthe van Gogh bottle)
and shake 5 minutes
drink 2 shots and you won't leave your couch
I'm a native San Franciscan, and I've never heard of the Pisco Punch.
We have so many much better cocktails than what was shown here. The Cosmo, Margaritas, Strawberry Daiquiri, Double Sidewinder, Tequila Sunrise, Lemon Drop, Fuzzy Navel, Sex on the Beach, White Russian, etc.
My drinking days are many years ago, I don't remember the cocktails anymore.
But the Long Island teas were killers. Oh my. Too many overdrinking of those.
+JB P What sixteen year olds do you hang out with? Terrible beer or weak cider is the limit of most high school kids. Cheap rum and coke for those who feel fancy. I would have actually enjoyed my few times of underage drinking if I got to drink something as tasty as a Lemon Drop.
Also, are you calling The Dude a sixteen year old? XD
the 16 year old around here drink r&r bernets Canadian house heaven hill. You must be in a rich neighborhood
+Elaine Marie Aren't Margaritas Mexican?
+JB P yes we do.
+JB P Boone's farm strawberry hill and MD 20/20 orange jubilee were what I had as a kid. Today I down 'em like Kool-aid.
the beauty with the red lip stick got me hooked
2:01"The ice cubes are so perfectly square"........What shape are the ice cubes in Ireland?, I'm curious.
Great selection of cocktails. Only one had a soda mixer. Sounds like they were well made. A compliment to the bar tender!
For once, Ryan loved everything. LOL
The guy with the beard and stache... super adorable. would like to see more of him 😊
Irish People React to being Sued by the Fine Bros.
TheRestlessVagabond working on it, ill get back to you in around 50 something years
O shit bro i coughed up my food
They got rid of all their pending copyrights. So 💁🏻
+C PMc They're giving up all their copyright claims. At this point it's damage control for them. I think they realize they've fucked up royally.
+C PMc knock it off. It got old days ago.
Long Island iced tea is something I've always wanted to try
+Jacob Garvey Be careful with them, they will knock your legs out from under you !
oh they should have made a blue Hawaiian. shits good af and has 4 liqs in em
these videos made me fall in love with irish girls!
That girl with the vibrant lipstick is whiter than a Kpop star.
HAHAH
wow
XD
But she's uber cute though
how on earth are you getting a feminst vibe from this shit at all..?
MrGamerman001 wait a minute, what even makes you think that? did she say she was?
mad props to the bartender making those drinks. those looked absolutely beautiful, and absolutely tasty. i wanted to drink them, and i don't even drink that much.
When I turn 21 in 9 months I will get drunk off that iced tea drink
the one with the flower in her hair im in love lol
ANy thoughts to putting first names under the people so we have an idea who they are??
Love Manhattans. They were my late grandfather's drink of choice back in the day.
That's one thing the US does quite well. The sheer scale of cocktails available is mind boggling. I live in Northern California and I've never even heard of Pisco Punch (with its San Francisco roots). Oh, that reminds me - what about that other San Francisco drink - Irish Coffee? Its a hot drink though, so it may not fit with the cocktail category.
Oh, it was fun watching them. You could tell by the last drink they were getting pretty wasted.
Does Irish Coffee not originate in Limerick? Was brought over to America and popularised in the 1950s, but was originally made in the 1940s in Ireland. Coffee and Spirits combinations pre-date the Irish Coffee by at least 100 years though, especially in continental Europe.
Ah, it looks like you're right. The Buena Vista Cafe in San Francisco was the first place in the states to serve it and they became famous for it.
I thought it was a bit peculiar too, that an Irish Coffee originated in the States, you know? Glad to know it WAS made here, after all!
+Jeff Morse We did invent them, Cocktails. Mostly due to prohibition, when we had shit liquor, cocktails were made to cover up the taste.
Manhattans, Old Fashions, Long Islands, Red Wine, or Straight whiskey is the best in my book all I drink.
Conclusion: Booze is awesome.
The Long Island Iced Tea is a good summer drink; very refreshing, but they will lay you out if you're not careful.
I only recently acquired a taste for Manhattans. That is a fantastic drink.
Irish People React to American Cocktails
Video gets taken down for copyright claims from the fine bros
Juv Irish People Express Emotion Over Taken Down Video
+Teajam other Irish people react to that
My grandma grew up and lived most of her adult life in Brooklyn, so a Manhattan is the mainstay at most family gatherings.
You forgot some american classics: Alabama Slammer, Cosmopolitan, Mai Tai
+Makron5 Hoping to do American Shooters in another video :) Our guys would be way too familiar with Cosmos and the like though... but the Alabama Slammer is a great shout ;-) Cheers!
That sofa is beautiful!
Americans are adept at making drinks.
and making guns
no kidding.
And the baleful combination of drunk people with guns.
Andrew Budd in the south most people don't drink but they do own guns
I don't think either of those assertions is true.
Love the buds and these guys are champs. To bad the the guy in the black leather jacket wasn’t in this one, he is the video personality that we all want to see. That guy deserves his own show or channel.
one of the guys kinds looks like shawn from boy meets world
Long Islands are so good, especially on a nice summer afternoon at the beach.
why did that bartender have 3 different kinds of hair on his head?
I agree completely with AmyD down to every word, bravo on the word play it sounds exactly like him. Laughed and laughed over and over.
Just relocate to America already
Nah its better here shit weather and all
Yeah we like it here with all the green-ness and shit XD
no! just give us the american products without the Americans.
+rev 96 Most of them already did.
Why would anyone want to do that? Worst idea ever
i love peoples reactions the first time they try long islands i also love watching them drink 3 of them before they realize how much they just drank
what is the name of the cute redhead
Jacob Soto Nicole
Jason M thanks man. i had to search for her on google
I'm probably jinxing myself now, but I am 28 years old and have never had a hangover! For New Years I had a whole bottle of wine and a few shots of vodka and maybe a Jell-O shot or 6, and was completely fine the next day.
White Russian. The only proper mixed drink.
Martini. Check and mate.
+DAVID C Dowe Never tried a martini might have to
classic cocktails, favorite episode so far
Do actual Irish people ever say Slainte? Or is that just what Americans try to say on St. Paddy's Day to feel more Irish?
I'd love to know that too.
+LibrosOverHos I've never heard anyone in person say it and I never do, but I'm sure a good few probably do.
we don't say that really no
+LibrosOverHos sláinte means health in irish but I don't think it's an actual tradition here
We do say it along with 'cheers' as well 😀
Thank you for these videos! I'm obsessed now. Very funny.
Charlie Day is Irish?
OMG, he does look like Charlie Day! Cute as fuck!!
Lol I've been trying to figure out who he reminds me of, thanks.
When I first saw this, I thought ya'll were going to taste appletinis and pina coladas. SO GLAD you went for the classic cocktails. I just wish you'd done some rum/tequila/gin based drinks as well as bourbon and whiskey.
