    I'm from New Delhi and I stayed in Korea for a month during July. What Seetha said about Latinos and Indians having similar looks but one being fetishized and the other being frowned upon is so true. I would go to clubs and men would assume I'm a Latina (Brazilian or Spanish). The way they would change the way they talked to me or treated me the moment I would tell them I'm Indian was insane. They would shift from being interested (even desperate sometimes) to being dismissive in an instant. Also, I didn't really face as much racism as my black roommate. I would mostly get taxis without trouble but whenever I was with her, the taxis would almost never stop for us /: I hope the younger generation of Korea really changes the way their country treats people from other countries who have nothing but love and respect for Korea's culture, country, and people. Xenophobia is so prevalent in Korea unless they're dealing with a race they fetishize.

The lady was racially profiling me like as if I was about steal something...Although I saw other helpers around, I specifically called her to get me a pair of slippers... When she pointed the slipper rack, I asked her to search for size 9 , Just so I can watch her search for my slippers and make her understand the importance of a customer regardless of his/her ethnicity . Her saying hindu isn't for herself, she's in korea fyi and i am myself aware of korea's knowledge abt india and there they speak of hindi as hindu ,not everyone is aware about every single thing abt our culture and the person opposite to her and the viewers if korean can relate and understand it better. You can't go on correcting in other nation that hindi and hindu ain't the same unless they are deeply interested the culture. If you say that they (koreans) should have basic knowledge of this , well they don't, and those that have know and speak correctly. Secondly, being a south Indian doesn't mean that you know every person and it's worse because you are questioning her authenticity of her being and Indian based on it.

      But everyone is Indian but they treat them differently and that's very disrespectful, I went from Kolkata and never treated anyone like that, I always talk with them. I love the people, food, fashion, punctuality and culture. I've not faced any racism till now and my friends are very inviting and respect me. I've learnt many valuable things and lessons like being punctual,disciplined,manners,and how to even travel by myself although i'm with my family now, initialy it was hard because of the language barrier but after few weeks i took the effort to learn Hanguel and my lifestlye changed

Also, I have heard stories of Black people getting turned away from accommodation in India. India is not a saint place as these Indians claims. Every country has its own share of racism we humans are inherently racist. You have a point, but there should be an effort to understand and adjust. Compromise from both sides. The world is becoming a melting pot of cultures now, so it is not really okay to say xyz "if you don't like it go back to your country." That is very regressive thinking in today's world. For example, today USA is where it is because of the Indian brains to a large extent, brilliant Indians lured to the promised land for the last 100 years. So, if everyone of them were told not to eat 'curry' or leave the country, where would US be now?

    • @viktormunez6692
      @viktormunez6692 Před rokem

      @@Anione111 I do agree with the concept of respecting each other culture. But when someone decides to come to my home its their responsibility to respect my way of life not the other way around coz no one has invited them in the first place. It was their choice to visit which is fine. I do understand integration goes both ways but you do have to realise not every nation is keen on having immigrants and wants to preserve their culture and I don't find anything wrong with that. Some things can be cultural too what is normal in some societies might be considered racist in others so it's the responsibility of immigrants to study the culture of the host nation before they migrate. The US is a blend of different cultures but Korea is more of a homogeneous society so we can't really compare. I am not justifying racism here all I am trying to say not everything that you see or hear is racist just because it's different to what someone is used to in their home country.

      @Anione111 Před rokem

The citizens have a problem with that, they need to take it up with their govt, not show their displeasure to towards the immigrants. Reg your comment - it's the responsibility of immigrants to study the culture of the host nation before they migrate. Sure, no one is denying that. The issue here is not of the immigrants interfering with or insulting the host countries culture. It is the citizens of the host country not being open to accepting/tolerating the culture, physical appearance, "smell", food habits, etc of the immigrants. India for all its faults, not a "saint place" by any means, IS very welcoming and accepting of foreign visitors. I would love to see evidence to the contrary. Please share any video links if you can.

    Never try to live in Korea after watching Korean dramas. The world they portrait on dramas and the real world has hell lotta difference. It's much better to live in India than to live in a country full of superficial expectations and racism.

      I personally like Indians and India. Many Koreans have seen The 3 Idiots, Slumdog Millionaire, and RRR and have a good image of India through them. Koreans also think that Indians look cool. Historically, Korea is a victim of imperialism like India. So we are like to see the development of India. When India overtook Britain's GDP, many Koreans were surprised and delighted. India's dynamic economy could go beyond China to G2, or even beyond the United States to G1. We are cooperating in many areas. Economically, militarily, personally. Let's continue to work together. I hope to see more Indians in Korea in the future. Aria, who recently debuted as a girl group, is a good example. I'm sorry that the people in this video went through something bad. But basically we don't think based on nationality or skin color. Korea is a homogeneous society, so it is just unfamiliar and difficult to deal with foreigners. We are never trying to discriminate against them. We shouldn't believe in people, but the last thing we should believe in is also people. Love you India.

    The nation who eats "KIMCHI" frowns upon curries.... WOAH! What a "HYPOCRATION".... Curries are way better than Kimchi in terms of smell, taste and even the process they go through.. I ain't talking about the healthy factor in here... I am only raising the distaste of koreans on curries based on smell and looks. In that perspect anything is better than kimchi

      So this is the spices which smells nd they are not even wrong nd also we are not wrong when we say they smell like kimchi because we live with that smell since childhood nd they also but automatically if we or they will go to each other countries we will smell like curry nd kimchi i think that is the reason
