You left out put a tube or pillow under cover for ice expansion if in cold weather
This video addressed some things I hadn't seen elsewhere, that were causing me a lot of trouble. One thing was the skimmer cover and jet port; my water was draining too low going into winter. The other thing was bungee cords and stakes. We get blasted with wind, and the cover acts like a sail. Tying them to the ground will keep the cover from riding up the sides of the pool and flapping in the wind. Thank you very much!!!
Awesome video and I really like that cover kit you used.
I did all this but used a pool pillow. I guess you don’t have to but I definitely recommend. 😀
Step 2.5 drain pool to below return?
What about SNOW , the heavy wet stuff . How do you keep it from collapsing the cover ?
It'll only go down as far as the water level
What about blowing out the lines and filter return?
Blowing out the lines is usually unnecessary when winterizing an above ground pool because pool equipment is most likely installed below the waterline.
The skimmer and returns jets are plugged early in the guide. When the pump and filter are disconnected, most of the water should flush from the pipes.
Why didn’t you remove the return jet? I’ve seen many videos about removing it
At 1:17 we show the return port being plugged with a screw-on cap. Removing the return jet, would seemingly just create a larger unsealed hole. But I may be misunderstanding.
Im never getting a pool.
There in Florida no need for that
no pool pillow? what the heck?
The installation does use a float device for the center cover but it is not mentioned in the video.
What about rain water?? It’s going to build up and pull on the cover and destroy it
Hi Jeff, if you live in a windy climate, then leaving some rain water on the cover actually helps to keep it weighed down and prevent it from tearing. A sump pump can be placed on top to remove excess water periodically.
Big ass above ground pool
