- Shelling on Keewaydin Island on Friday Jan 27, 2023 via Hemingway Water Shuttle. It was very cold (In the 50s) and windy this day but finding so many shells made it worth the trip. We did the 7:45 am departure shuttle from Rose Marina and 2:00 pm return shuttle. So we had a nice long day shelling. The relaxing ride over to the island was about 30 minutes. The shuttle cost $22 for each ride so $44 plus taxes+fees totaling about $52. It was definitely worth it!

Great job - you got a lot of great shells! I went about a month after you did - and the heat was ON!!! Thanks for sharing with us. I also found a Scotch Bonnet on Keywayden by digging about two inches down in the upper wrack line - so don't ever expect to find everything in the water! Happy shelling!

What a great haul of shells! I think that the Florida fighting conch shells are gorgeous! So much variety for one species of shell. All of your shells are so beautiful!

at 2:10 you're the first one I see collecting Noetia ponderosa. I had a gigantic Arcidae/Noetiidae collection (about 1200 specimens), gave it away though due to illness.
Another species I miss is the Cut-ribbed Ark, aka the Florida Ark (Anadara floridana). Never seen a hinged one on video. People always value and collect the same species.

Absolutely great shelling trip, looks like you all hit a negative low tide and also hit the jackpot! It was definitely a banded tulip kind of day, but those enormous apple murex seemed prolific too. Either your giant alphabet cone or your momâs giant lace murex were my personal favorites!

Hi thank you for watching & subscribing! This was low tide, an almost negative low tide day. I went again this past weekend where the tide was higher and was not nearly as successful. But there was still shells to be found! I also went to tigertail and Kice. I will be posting the video within the next few days!
Great haul!!! How do you record, when you are walking on the beach? I've tried handheld, but I keep grabbing shells and it gets sideways. lol. Maybe I need to edit better.
Thank you! I record holding my phone in my hand. It definitely slows down the process. If itâs a lot of shells sometimes I just have to put the camera away lol.

No I donât keep live shells, I make sure that they are empty đ
