In my opinion, Yareli hate came from two places. One is the K-Drive stuff you mentioned, but the other is just people not being up to date. The reality is DE in the past has been very slow to fix bad frames and usually it's through a big rework not a series of small changes and fixes doled out over a long time. The end result is the Yareli changes that made her good flew under the radar for most players since they're used to getting a big rework section in patch notes instead of a series of one line changes over a year.

You can tell that DE really wanted to make her great, since she's received a substantial amount of buffs and QoL changes.

this outdated view dosent help the fact that the sole culprit of the hate is the drown out quest for her. the challenges and the quest was very brief for those that indulged in k-drive/skating around, for the usual regular wf player, this activity implied the forceful learning of "useless skills" since k-drives are weak compared to the millions tools to kill enemies in game.
The quest proved to be very enfuriating for many who felt forced into an activity that they didnt enjoyed for the sake of a frame whos kit at the time wasnt very appealing not serviceable. as you say, things changed with time but the nature of her quest plus the fact that she has no prime that could make her acquisition easier exagerated her shortcomings when compared to other frames obtained through the standard boss encounters or standing farms. gameplay wise, is was a waste of time to coplete her quest or buy her with plat since her abilities weren't impactful nor key tools like a gloom or roar to make it worth the grind.
Thankfully DE has learned from this case and has made the new frames obtainable in more reasonable ways including the "pity system" that allows you to soften the blow of rng and get your hands on your frame without making it a chore. Would her prime result into a full rework? It could be if her numbers are low enough that a glow-up could increase her selection, and also if her deluxe skins are a hit and changing her kit or readjusting it could help out. On the other hand, the many changes and augments she has received show that her kit might not receive any further changes regardless of her getting a prime.

the quest was pretty nonesense. did it myself and it included things not even used in races or open world that offen what made that fall flat, since it lacked proper relate able usage of the asign skills had it an actual use, that was worh it, then people would not have hated it as much. the wraframe it self is now pretty good but the quest they tacked on was just a pain.
i do wish they add the ability to hold cast when u use the augment to let u jump onto the K-drive has some tilesets its great fun and will have made me use her more often but not being able to use it kinda makes her less unique
Imo delete the augment and make it part of the base ability. Tap/hold
@@securatyyy Usually I'd agree, fixing frame issue with augments isn't the way, but 1 mod slot for a strong perma dmg reduction is fine imo.
Her being on the kdrive should be a passive not a skill.
I use Yareli actively day one but, not gonna lie I prefer the Kdrive to be a toggle on ride and off along side ability rather than an augment. But I'm happy for DE for making her accessible to normal players now.
I think the skill should be a toggle (active on and active off) then the augment lets it cast the snares. At the very least let the augment make it a toggle too
She was accessible before. Pillage plus massive strength stat = guns go burr. I subsumed off merulina before though. Spam her 1 and just blow everything up. It was so retardedly strong it's not even funny. Her augment makes it even better cause now you can subsume off blades.
That ending about the tier list gets more and more funny.
I actually like it better this way. If it comes out in the middle of the year it's more of a true 2024 list and less "2023 in review". It also might be more worth the time investment to come out near the Tennocon hype days.
Fun fact: merulina getting damaged procs arcane avenger, even if you have your shields up. This means that in a high enough density mission you'll have avenger up pretty much 100% of the time.
I don’t hate Yareli but I do wish they’d spend less time trying to bandaid their way around the problem and just improve driving her board in missions.
However they want to accomplish that I’m not a dev. I’ve got some ideas feel free to hit me up if you’re struggling DE.
I actually enjoy playing Yareli with Merulina, and all I've ever wanted is for them to fix how clunky the board is.
I refuse to strip it off or use the Bandaid augment, and I hope DE will eventually just tighten up Merulina/K-drive. Maybe when she gets her prime...
I don't mind the K-Drive being horribly clunky, part of the fun of K-Drive is bailing like a clown at Mach 2 when you mess up. It's still disappointing that Merulina isn't an exalted K-drive, as some of their mods would make the silly movement a fun trade-off.
But step 1 to fixing it and the biggest reason I had helminth'd away Merulina 'til we got Loyal Merulina was the "press F to dismount" Quality of Life change. Why do I now have to reenable weapon swapping when opening lockers and make my quality of life slightly worse in all other situations just so that I can interact with stuff without dismounting? I could already dismount at any time by pressing melee, which has no alternative function while riding!

Yarel is fine now with her augment, now her only bad thing is her reducing your fps with her 4 especially on murmur tiles.
Thats more a murmur tile issue than a yareli specific problem

She was fine without just trading one good augment for another in Merlina guardian , can you spam the 5 second inv no but with being on Merulina you get the I frames on getting on and Merulina taking fatal damage so it’s swings and roundabouts and how you feel about using it within normal play tile sets , just a shame we can’t actually mod Merulina itself
@Darthmufin you said especially, which would imply it normally drops fps but its more notable on murmur tiles. If it normally drops your fps tweak your settings

I think she's in a good place now with the changes allowing her to move while casting all her abilities and no longer being forced to use K-drive crap. It always was stupid how her abilities locked her in place with that passive of hers.
She just needs the shrinking range of Riptide removed and the Merulina Guardian augment should be tied to her Sea Snares abilities instead, as it really sucks that that great augment forces you to use the K-drive crap again, and then she'll be a complete gun platform frame with a strong grouping ability.
Amusingly, she's always been able to move while casting abilities. You just needed to be on Merulina to do it.
Yareli was still mediocre prior to this augment. The reliance on her K-Drive was dragging her whole kit down. Now she's basically around the same power and niche that Nezha is, which is a pretty good place to be.
I'd say she's more similar to Zephyr, but regardless she's a bit worse than either alternative for a simple flavor difference imo
I get why people don't like kdrive (I like it personally) but removing if from Yareli defeats the point of playing her. At that point just play Revenant if you want to be tanky, Zephyr if you want to group enemies or Hydroid if you like water
I mean I just like turning my frames into worse versions of valkyr. There's an allure to making a frame work in a way that goes against its original design philosophy. Like health tanking Harrow, for example
Well the K-drives are clunky to use and on older tile sets zipping around on one is a detriment instead of a benefit due to the layouts. Then there is the issue of what K-drives are good for besides doing the races they are required for. Want to zip around in open world, you got an Arcwing for that instead of a mutant child of “Tony Hawk’s Pro Skate” and “Back To The Future 2”.
my main problem with yareli was always the K-Drive but there is also the fact that she basically competes directly with Zephyr in that they have pretty much the same role.
Adaptation doesn't stack with merulina damge reduction but you still get adaptation stacks when meruliyis hit, so it only works when merulina dies and the enemies attack you directly, also blue archon shards specially defense ones make merulina tankier

As a release Yareli main, I am so happy to see how much better shes gotten since release. Once upon a time ago, she was basically just a gag but she’s genuinely super fun to play
I have pretty much mastered K-drive at this point.... but even then, I cannot solve the helminth on K drive problem in some tileset, in most newer tile set, I can jump and helminth mid air then recast K-drive without losing momentum, but in older tileset it will forever sucks.

I love Yareli.. she has a really comfortable playstyle for me the way I modded mine.. but this build looks very fun. Will try it out 👍🏻

self proclaimed #1 yareli main, the only bad things about yareli are that the K drive isn't moddable, and we can't get on and off of it (the new augment should just be baked in imo - we should be able to just jump off the K drive when we need to and get the best of both worlds) and for whatever reason they let her do cold damage but no cold effects. otherwise people really just hate yareli because they hate their own skill issues with K drives.
I played Conjunction Survival with a Yareli tonight and it honestly has me wondering if I should get her crafted finally. A well timed video to say the least!
just tried this out, and running around with that Viral Tempest is pretty fun.
Yareli is really great with the dual Toxocyst incarnon because getting red crits is much easier, especially if you have a crit riven.

at the moment her 4 for me is the subsume slot just because CC is in such a bad state with overguard etc, but as soon as cc gets more meta or viable in any way i think the 1 or 3 can be replaced
I've been playing tidal tempest yareli ever since the new augment and she's been my new main for general content
I'm actually completely fine with this helminth choice. Usually I rag on helminth because it sacrifices the thematic soundness of a warframe, but this is very thematic. It's actually MORE thematic than aquablades.
Another example like this is using nezha's 1 over ember's fireball, which is something I do. Fits the theming and gives the frame something they really want.
Yareli is basically Nezha 2.0
She‘s a lot better nowadays, any hate she gets is outdated.
At first I realy despiced the loyal Merulina Augment, since it kinda broke the main Image I had of Yareli, but slowly over time I mixed in other secondary boni and helminths that would be difficult to juggle with hopping on or off Merulina for uptime concerns like
Any Armor strip helminth, Zephyr vacuum with augment, Meza shooting gallery
The glave kill mods: mark of the beast (krit and status chance), combo fury (reload and magazin capazity)
Utility Spearguns like Scourge (headshot magnet, realy helps with incarnon charge on bad connections) and Afentis (more fire rate, reload, less recoil and max ammo)
with all those coming together, every loadout slot has a purpose instead of ignoring primaries and slapping on Amalgam Furax for 45% fire rate since not much else would be worth in melee.

She’s bugged for me on PS5. Merulinas armor stat on the right literally climbs the screen on each cast. And merulina disappears upon recasting leaving me with no armor. The screen climb has been in for ages. Only just noticed the meshing merulina bug tonight.
I slept on this frame till a clan mate showed me a video of her in level cap. She’s absolutely disgusting and as a gyre main she might be my new favorite frame literally everything I want in gyre CC and crit chance and Iframes out the ass. It’s possible on gyre too but that damage vulnerability I took her 3 away out on nourish the new augment I’m constantly just hitting enemies with atleast 300% damage vulnerability. 2 corrosive stack shards and 3 tau topaz for cc and then arcane avenger and molt efficiency with combat discipline. She’s an absolute ANIMAL
I hope the double bubbles stack is a feature and they keep it.
Her augment and whenever we get her deluxe skin fixes any issues I had with her. I'm not a fan of the magical girl aesthetic.

I think making her skateboard into a pet is the best thing that could have happened to her as it lets the people that don’t like that style ignore it, personally I think the only thing that could have made it better is if it didn’t take a mod slot (personally I felt like a kdrive was just to large for most indoor maps) it was just an option of do you want to ride it or have it follow you?
About liking or disliking her? I mean she works better than at least 2 frames (Oberon and Caliban) I can think of even before this new mod now this is going to push her into the middle of the pack but it’s awfully crowded in there.

After further testing and formas on Yareli I can safely say that she is still lackluster.
The biggest issue is there is no real synergy in her abilities and she just feels clunky to use.
Although I respect the work, you've had to put a helminth with an augment and two corrosive shards just to make her "work". Several Warframes do better while having a synergistic kit and not requiring Helminth or archon shards just to be functionnal.
Her Loyal Merulina augment is just a mandatory mod to compensate the lack of mobility of K-drive that should be in the base kit (and K-drive itself should not be so clunky).
Speaking about "clunky" again, Riptide has splendid visuals but the performances are not in adequation. It is "fine", that's all that it is.
You can present her as a "weapon platform" Warframe but even then, there is ton of competition.
I've tried to not put Primed Sure Footed just for one mission but the game quickly became a ground POV simulator. It seems that when you get used to interruption resistance too much you can't live without it...
My general impression on Yareli is that her concept was fundamentaly uninspired. It can't be solved with bunch of augments : the issue is in the concept, more than in the numbers.
I Will change Streamline for Archon Flow, bro, so u can have 800 energy for that Arcane Energy, anyway I like the build, I'll give it a try

I still have yet to find players past their first 100 hours who like k-drives.
Do a Chroma Prime build refresh please, the community deserves to know how satisfying he is to play with parkour velocity and his passive double bullet jumps! XD
Dont forget Energy Effectiveness Yellow Shards or Energy Max Blue Shards as alternates to the Purple Equilibrium Shard. Much more affordable and frankly I find the Yellow shards energy income to be more reliable.

After trying her out she’s insane, damage buff, CC, free 90% DR, free I-Frames, her 3 even has scaling damage although weaker CC. I am not sure how such a busted frame goes so ignored.
I await for Yareli to get a skin that I’d like. Then she will skyrocket in usage for me.

Unsure if you're just trolling saying you don't get it or just really don't....but most of the frames that are "meta" or really popular have something that separates them...if they're a weapons platform there is something that makes them stand out, if they have abilities they are impactful and able to scale without insane amounts of work.....yes, you *can* make most frames into a weapons platform, but you can do that with almost every frame....it was just a gimmick frame that they made and then kind of left the gimmick in the shadows and didn't make it good enough to be worth using.

The only reason I have any negative thoughts about Yareli is because of the Vent Kids; cannot STAND them, so it's more 'hate by association' than anything else.
Last time I tried her was in SP Circuit, and I had a blast but didn't like hopping on her K-Drive; good to see that Augment did what I always wanted done to Merulina:

Hating yareli isn't nearly as justifiable as hating limbo or caliban. I hate ash because DE nerfed him, but lets mesa and saryn run wild.

And ash is still one of the best frames in the game for single target DPS which matters a lot in disruption and Void Cascade

I love Merulina Guardian, but Loyal Merulina just blows it out of the water. Lame that we can only use one augment.
200% fire rate/ 200% reload is incredibly strong in some builds -- and despite the kdrive controls being super jank on some tilesets the 4s of initial and 1.5s of exit invincibility on Merulina cast is incredibly strong in very high level content. Loyal Merulina is very comfy when that's not needed though.
Pretty sure the hate is just because people don't know the augment exists, which is fair because they could have deleted Caliban and most of us wouldn't know. People don't pay attention to bad frames and when you have to ride a k drive indoors she is very bad.
Great build as always! Been loving Yareli for a while now. However, this makes me question: why play k-drive frame when no k-drive?🤔
because her DR makes her comfy, and she has good grouping, and her snare vulnerability is very nice. I also do like the aquablades with some setups. She is just another flavor of a quality weapon platform

I played Vauban prime on void cascade SP and never went down was able to lock down areas and killed SP enemies with minelayer and my teammates actually liked me using Vauban as well
With limbo prime was able to lock down corridors and large rooms with rift surge and never died to a single exmius or acylote while maintaining 3 and half hours and SP survival
So yeah the "do you hate yareli?" Is hypocrisy to what you did 3 months ago in the tier list video

If she could use subsumes on her board the hate wouldn't still be here as an echo of the past.
But when it comes to new animations we all know they take 2 years to never to make them (See: inconsistent melee stances)
The issue with yareli is shes an annoyance to get and theres other frames that are as good if not better at what she does, so why use her over them? She's fine, she's just an annoyance to get.

yareli is a unique case that's mostly up to aesthetics. she is mostly serviceable within the metagame and i wouldn't outright tell someone to *not* play yareli, because there'd be no reason to. but the kinda funny "bit" is that "we don't talk about yareli. we don't talk to yareli players." mostly because i and anyone i've played warframe with has heavily disliked the way she's portrayed through animations, her quest comic, and her general aesthetics enough for the verdict to be "Banishment." because it's kinda funny. but it's not a "kick you from the eidolon party" disdain, it's just a "this guy probably plays Yareli" disdain that's half-jokingly said. i actually really like k-drives but i don't like yareli at all. them's the breaks
Yareli was always powerful, but the thing I said to my clan rang true, that no amount of buffs is going to make not playing Warframe worth it. Loyal Merulina lets Yareli be a Warframe without dying instantly, and she's damn good from the five-ish rounds of buffs she got..
Grouping is so unnecessary in this game. Aoe incarnons make grouping redundant.
