Originally from Nashville, Tennessee, we got married June 2013 and quickly caught the #travel bug! We started “travel hacking” & finally decided we wanted to go travel for one year. After 2 years of saving $ and over 2 million miles and points, we sold our cars and apartment and left home January 10, 2016. We started this #travelvlog to share our experiences with friends and family, then decided we really liked vlogging and traveling, and we didn’t want to stop after just one year! After achieving our new goal of 100 countries and then all 7 continents (check out our documentary here: • 100th COUNTRY DOCUMENTARY , we had no plans to slow down, until 2020 decided to force us to ;) which is when we bought a converted Sprinter van to start exploring our own country for the first time. #vanlife was a major adjustment and so different than flying every week like we were used to, but we are incredibly thankful to be able to continue doing something we love every day. 😊🎥🌎

Also - the fact that toilet is RIGHT in front of the kitchen - and I believe they are also using the top cover over the toilet to prep food etc just kinda grosses me out

Bathroom must be a private space, it also helps hygiene as the bathroom and kitchen are not literally in the same air at all times, for me kara and nate's van gains a point for that.

Indeed, I don't think it'd be livable to have to spend 30 minutes preparation for a shower, and a few minutes to covert to the bathroom.
The permanent bathroom is more convenient and liveable, but having said that, for me the privacy with my wife of 15 years is a non-issue.

Kara and Nate are my favorite CZcamsrs. Never a mean thing to say about anybody, jokingly or not. Never any shade throwing of any kind. Always positive, supportive, and compassionate. Most other travel youtubers disappoint in comparison.

I love the shower stall concept - feels more like home. The convertible bed concept from bed to group dining is useful.
You can tell Eamon loves the build out and function of van life. He is the type that could start a van conversion company and be fully stoked for the rest of his life.

I think a private bathroom and shower is super important. Your van definitely gets extra points for that!
I've seen a trillion videos of do-it-yourself RV setups and I will not even THINK about building one without a completely enclosed private bathroom. Even if I have to sacrifice space. One suggestion that a German RV brand did: they set up the bathroom with two walls and it was next to the sliding door (same vehicle: Mercedes-Benz Sprinter). When not in use, you pass through it. The toilet swings down from one side and the sink does the same from the other side. The shower head is on a swivel stand so it swings out of the way when entering. A hidden door outside the bathroom wall swings across to fully enclose it. Why would they pick this weird setup: space. It freed up so much space that they put a closet between the bathroom wall and rear bed. And it's a full size closet with drawers. Yet they were still able to retain the full kitchen with sink and stove. The brand is Unicat, a German maker of expedition RVs. These can start at $250,000 and easily soar past $1 million if you demand very specific custom equipment. Their most outrageous project was for a scientist named Bran Ferran. He wanted a separate camper trailer to hitch to his Unicat SUV and still be able to pull enormous amounts of weight because he carried so much weather equipment. What did Unicat do? They installed a small engine in the trailer with a transfer case. Yes, it's not a 4x4. It's and EIGHT by EIGHT wheel drive! And with tires almost near balloon size, this thing probably laughs at staircases and crawls over them like it's on flat ground! How much did it cost? Ferran wouldn't give a number but he said it cost farrrr more than a loaded Maybach limo and less than a corporate jet. Not sure how to calculate the cost with those price hints...

I'm definitely with Nate on the bathroom situation haha. My partner and I moved in together this year, and one of the first agreements we made is that we're NOT the type of couple that will ever use in the bathroom with the other person in there at the same time, or even with the door open lol

I don't normally post comments, but finally watching this video caused me to want to post a SO THANKFUL that Bec looks so healthy & happy here with you guys and that two weeks ago she finished her Chemo. She's just as happy and joyous in their "last chemo" video as they are here with you guys. All four of you resilient young people are very inspiring.

My whole family loves your videos!! We have a lot of Saturday’s where we just have a Kara and Nate marathon on in our house!! You guys do an amazing job editing your videos and we are always curious to where you are going next.
Biggest advice Kara when it comes to cooking taste as you cook even if you follow step by step instructions. Taste it at least 3x through the cooking process before serving it.

I love Eamon and Bec's toilet/shower setup, although I would kick everybody out, including my husband, when using the toilet, lol. Having all that extra counter/seating space is smart, but I understand someone not being comfortable with it.
Poor Kara with her cooking issues, lol. I cook almost daily, but still have issues with certain things and I'd imagine it would be even harder in a new kitchen using an appliance you're not used to.

Really like your guys channel/content. A international travel question.... When you're traveling for months and you go from country to country with one way tickets, don't most countries require some kind of onward or outbound ticket? How does all that work? We're getting ready to basically do this some type of traveling and I would hate to get rejected to go into a country because we didn't have departure tickets.
