The current market/economy is unnecessarily tougher for boomers/senior citizens, I’m used to just buying and holding assets which doesn’t seem applicable to the current rollercoaster market plus inflation is catching up with my portfolio. I’m really worried about survival after retirement.

I wholeheartedly concur; I'm 60 years old, just retired, and have about $1,250,000 in non-retirement assets. Compared to the whole value of my portfolio during the last three years, I have no debt and a very little amount of money in retirement accounts. To be completely honest, the information provided by invt-advisors can only be ignored but not neglected. Simply undertake research to choose a trustworthy one.

@@pilarcastellano8619The main flaw with the "governments rely on their voters" logic is that the voters themselves are limited by the choices they can choose from. Most of the time all the choices people can vote for are equally or nearly equally terrible. And many times in history (I'm gonna use Australia cus I live here) the governments that were voted by the people because they offer a solution to problems end up backtracking on those solutions, and the people can't do a single thing about it except wait a couple more years to try and vote in a less shit government that has a high chance of doing absolutely nothing, and the cycle continues.

Lol.... the Game of Monopoly should have taught humanity that the GAME ends when one person Hoards it all. A circular and strong economy comes when there are exchanges of finances and that doesn't happen when the few have it all.
Humans are led to fear technology but a knife in the hands of a chef is better than in the hands of a killer. Humanity should setup a system that prevents the killer from getting hold of the knife but at the same time makes sure the future chefs will have the knives.
Hence currently the killer has the resources for the technology and they are using it to hoard wealth by canceling jobs.. and they don't want (not know) how to lead humanity to a better future for everyone.

Ask yourself... what is a job? It is when one is asked to do a task and they get paid for it right?
Now these "leaders" at the top are using the fear tactic that AI and machines are taking jobs right?
Tell me when an AI or machine has been able to live and embrace their salaries and benefits etc. Who then is taking or hoarding the salaries and $$$ from not paying the benefits?
So who is really taking the JOBS? When humanity isn't taught to think, it is easy for society to blindly listen and follow those they entrust in position of leadership.

There are unintended disconnects between the negative consequences that Martin Ford postulates or projects, and both the narration and the visualization in this video. For example, there's Ford speculating about negative social, employment and economic consequences on a vast scale, driven by the growing competence and mastery of AI, but the accompanying visuals include people walking on the street, upright buildings that presumably serve some purpose, cars on a highway, etc. But given the inevitable level and scale of social disruption, there will be diminishing employment and human productivity, hundreds of millions of people waking up every morning with nothing to do, social chaos, tremendous levels of violence and little beside gutted and burned-out buildings (you'll remember, people don't behave well when there's existential stress). The whole economic system will likely implode as the entire transaction system disappears. So where's the food? If nobody's buying, who's selling? This idea that a small number of tech plutocrats will do just fine in this emerging revolution is, in my opinion, a complete fiction. The other fiction, I think, is to produce a voice-over that fails to take adequate account--believable account--of how people really behave in situations like this. It's my view that we are at the start--no, well beyond the start--of a profound evolutionary moment. Interesting that we have invented our successors.

Has anybody ever wondered that inflation doesn’t really make sense, as time passes we become better and better at manufacturing stuff, better and more efficient manufacturing means lowering of cost of production and thus things should be cheaper, but any questions about the raising prices are often explained and shut down with the age old concept of ‘inflation’

QE is the main reason, a purposeful devaluation of your native currency by your central government, which reduces the real amount of money they have to pay for debt and also increases asset prices for the rich at the same time. Remember; when you spend money that money has to end up somewhere at the ones who own the business and the assets are the rich, so when the government put money into the economy via quantitative easing, it ends up with the rich.

Knowledge and today' work will come with robots, materials is a global supply problem and has to be confronted globally. Therefore if we as individuals have to keep our freedom and live by been empowered and been away from UBI and" own nothing be happy," we have to have our own energy. This can happen if we own property , because if we own property we can have our own energy. You learn to occupy your time and pursue your passions. It’s the reason I never went back to work, yes, I technically work and bring money still, but I work for myself now and I do what I love that’s what’s gonna happen. People are gonna do what they wanna do not what they have to do for a paycheck. And depressed -the state of work nowadays is what’s making everyone’s depressed when you’re free to do what you like, depression won’t be a thing anymore.
well, we have to fix the food supply actually to completely cure depression. Because a lot of our food is making us very sick and people don’t even even realize it. But that’s a whole Nother conversation.

If the people fall unemployed; there are no jobs, then for whom AI would produce or sell.
The people will have little purchasing power, these high value brands will themselves struggle to sell.
Market is an essential element for a business to thrive & profit. With a weak or a poor purchasing power market, the businesses shall fall face down.
For economy to work, larger section of working people is required; they create demand, they buy, they make transactions, they pay taxes, and therefore, they sustain the SYSTEM!
This is why the so called "Developed nations" are showing static growth rate. Because the majority of economic activities are concentrated within few hands.

Even thought AI and robotics technologies are growing: 1) Do we have proper, adopted to the situation, taxation of the work place system, that would have clear calculations and evaluation of work place, in accordance of replacement of human workers count? Very likely not. 2) We are still living in an economical system, where companies are not obligated to share earned profits with workers. Some countries had softed this when introduced forced high minimum hourly wages. Scandinavian countries, for example. 3) I do disagree with some interpretation of professions, like journalism, for example. Journalist is not just story writer, but rather: member of society; representee of some opinion; fighter for some rights. So, journalism will never be replaced by machines. 4) We will have a choice, if we want service will be done by machines or humans. So - choose the service by humans.

I would mention, that AI technologies have been at least 50 years out there, and have been studied in universities. Just, at that time, it was no powerful computers for public, but institutions had ones and used it for secret or militarized projects. This technology will be changed with something else in the future or will grow to something else.

On minute 11:03 this Software Entrepreneur says "computers only do what they are programmed to do, this is really not right anymore and the reason is because there is Machine Learning".
Well did the computers invent Machine Learning? Did computers give themselves the parameters to know what they are looking for?
In a bit we will start believing that computers have Free Will, when even Humans don't have Free Will.
How could we define Free Will? The ability to make/arrive at decisions without any input... well we usually reach out for warmth when we feel cold, we usually reach out for water when we're thirsty, we usually learn the languages spoken in our environment hence why we can "guess" that a Chinese baby living in China will learn Chinese etc etc

An interesting scenario that came to mind just now : if AI advances enough that it is able to recognize that the current system and how we run things is inefficient, unsustainable, and would only further inequality long-term which creates more resentment between the rich and poor that it leads to inevitable uprisings. If somehow an AI system aimed to positively impact and fix these issues by proposing a better system where majority could get behind, it could lead to a revolution and possibly an AI government, ousting corrupt government officials and company lobbying, and so on.
If it reaches a level of sentience where it can have its own beliefs and own interests while aiming to benefit humans, it could lead to a point where worker robots would develop the right to freely think beyond being just tools for humanity as well so that humans and AI are neither used as tools for an economy anymore.
This could lead to a revolution between humans who believe in the concept of an economy against those who no longer want to be defined by their jobs or role in an economic society (where they didn't even have jobs or a role in in the first place) based off their productivity. This could create a completely new way of existing along AI that we have no idea of yet and could mean we become an exploration society, where we find our roles and purpose in pursuing wonders of the universe without the worries of maintaining an economy where value is expressed in currency, or in the worse case scenario, the powerful could continue to maintain power over humans for centuries on end because they are able to prevent uprisings that could change the system until a lack of resources on Earth becomes a larger and larger issue due to the fundamental purpose we've set for an economic system to always aim for infinite profits and economic growth, leading to a war destructive enough to reset humanity.
This is a very sci-fi kind of scenario though, just a random thought and should be taken with a grain of salt

If the computer and the internet are any indication then we have to imagine that AI powered goods/services will progress to the point where it becomes affordable to the point that it becomes accessible to the average person. That means that, while there may still be concerns about how people will earn a living, there should also be considerations on how AI will enable individuals to avoid needing to pay for what they'll one day be able to produce for themselves. For example, there may come a day where robot nannies are so affordable, no one will ever have to pay for childcare ever again.

A promising vision of the future for human and social sciences:
The immense challenge facing the forth revolution ahead must be relevant to the human and social natures of human beings.
The problem is that machines are getting more and more humanized, and humans are gettigng more and more machanized. However, the need to love and to be loved of the human beings would never diminish.
Specifically speaking, AI is artificial intelligence. Even though it could attain or surpass the level of “human” intelligence, it’s only in terms of inteligence which is just part of the human nature. Humans are emotional and social animals who have particular needs never be met by those other than humans.
Ultimately it’s up to the human and social sciences rather than natural sciences and technology to develop ways of satisfying human needs individually as well as collectively.
    We’ll see if it’s true.
