Yes!! A lot of people put their spouse and marriage before the lord and people direct their focus on it and not Jesus. Anything we put before God and our relationship with him is an idol. Be careful. Also, there is some instances it’s worse to stay married if the person is toxic, abusive, adultery, unequally yoked. Some of these people will fill your life with toxicity and are not good for your life. God says to not partner with them. Have nothing to do with them.

Nothing worked in my marriage until I started asking God to change me first. Now my wife and I are more in love than ever before. Luke 6:42 says "Or how can you say to your brother, 'Brother, let me take out the speck that is in your eye,' when you yourself do not see the log that is in your own eye? You hypocrite, first take the log out of your own eye, and then you will see clearly to take out the speck that is in your brother's eye". This is wisdom and it is what saved my marriage. God is good and He loves you with a love that does not die or grow weary! Should we not try and do the same? God bless you and keep you, and may the spirit guide you into all truth. what i have learnt from my experience is that God ususally starts with the one who comes to Him first, whether it's to complain or to ask for Help. He changes us first then the person. I have learnt that we have to do it God's way. Are you loving your wife like Christ love the church? so much so that He gave up Himself for the church? we have to do it His way...100% as 99% is equivalent to zero.

I love how she made it clear that she didnt just hold on. She held on to God's Word. That's what God honors ... His word. That's what I did. I remember feeling like it's best for us to go our ways, but deep down it didnt sit well with me because I know that wasnt what God wanted and after asking Him to show me His will for my marriage. He led me to Isaiah 43:16-19. from that day, I have made a commitment to forget the former things and not dwell on the past; why? Because God IS DOING A NEW THING. Now, our marriage is beautiful. I love my husband in a more pure and Godly way, He loves me in a more Christlike way. I feel a brand new love from Him, getting kisses every time i turn at nights in the bed & and relish in turning :) He's more gentle and kind and patient and considerate and whenever he slips up, I extend mercy and grace and nothing gets damage. When i thought about divorce. I said to myself, if God loves marriages and the enemy loves divorce to make a choice who will we honor. Oh my gosh...I’m in a divorce that is still going on for two years! It’s ridiculous! I feel the same way that God has a plan for us and I don’t believe divorce is the path. We were together for almost 30 years and have three kids. I pray continually as he is suffering an existential crisis with addictions. He hid so much from me and was always fearful I would leave. I don’t think he has the courage to stop the divorce and he is bitter and destructive. I pray constantly that God will enter his heart and soul to stop and be truthful. While marriage is good and God instituted it. What God had put together.... A lot of couples get hooked up through infatuation and most times God has nothing to with it. But being the good God that he is. He turns our bad into good. For he knows we’re but frail human being that wants to have our own way. Therefore some are quick to say it’s God and when all the misery comes some have no choice but to pull teeth to make it work because they know God had not join them together. They join themselves. Thank God nonetheless that He takes the mess and make a blessing and that a few souls came to Him through it all.
I agree, but the institution called marriage is honorable to God. It's not dependent on whether it's two messes that are joined or one mess and one sanctified saint...(though we should not be unequally yolked) He will make them Holy. He is the One who will do the work in both.

My husband left me and our 1 year old while I was pregnant. We were “separated” for about 7 months but during that time he had an affair, and addicted to everything that involved LUST. He didn’t get her pregnant but the pain was just as immense. While he was gone, I prayed day & night for him to come home. I got closer to Jesus.. and He began to change me, and I really started to know what it meant to have a relationship with Jesus. My husband is home now, and God has answered my prayers. He is 100% willing to change, and we moved to a different state to get away from all the baggage. It’s still hard dealing with all the betrayal but I’m trusting in God. The fact that my husband came home was a miracle in itself. Stay faithful to the Lord, and seek him. He will take care of everything in His time.

Marriage is a sacred covenant between God, a husband and wife, that is not to be betrayed or broken. Betrayal comes in a marriage when you allow pride, strife and selfishness to come in. When things are going wrong, that's not the time to commit adultery or have affair's, this is when you need to communicate with each other and get to the root cause of your problems. Infidelity doesn't happen because of loneliness, it happens because of lust of the flesh, that hasn't been dealt with. A wife is not to blame when her husband cheats, nor is the husband to blame when his wife cheats. The blame lies with the one who cheated and them alone. A marriage can be restored and God can heal any marriage, but you have to be willing and want him to. It takes two in a marriage to make it work. Marriage is 100/100, not 50/50. My Christian daughter's so called Christian husband has just revealed that he is gay and has a boyfriend. My daughter was several months pregnant with their second child. Hubby is flaunting his lover and even brings him into the home. I'm am sickened. He was so strict before and now he has exposed their 2 yr old to all of this. Just heartbreaking. Praise God for His redemption in their marriage. Reconciliation is beautiful, when possible. However, God DOES NOT value the institution of marriage above an individual. He cares when His children are hurt. He granted divorce because men were mistreating their wives, and breaking a covenant He created. If one party chooses to be unfaithful or abusive, it is their sin to own and repent of. It is not both of their sin. The spouse who was hurt should not be put in the position by the church or others to take back a destructive spouse, especially if it keeps them or children in a dangerous and abusive situation. The marriage can only be saved when there is true repentance (before God and the hurting spouse), and sincere change. To take a destructive person back without these is “cheap grace”! Grace from God was very costly. God loves you first.
Hi. It is very hard being with a man who doesn't know how to be with a woman. My husband comes to church and prays etc I am a Christian also. Husband is always trying to hurt me and be quite awful to me and he thinks I should be ok with it when I am not. I am worth much .ore than this cheap treatment from him. He mocks what I say he not interested in what I am talking about as though my words are not of any interest to him. He has become so mean hard and harsh like he has been taken over by the devil. The devil has it in for me and has been using everyone to try cone against me. But I go for god every time. I habe to distance myself away from how husband is with me as I feel at times I cannot take anymore of it. I don't know what to do for the best. I am strong in God and he just seems to go along to church n he not really taking it in if u get me. Like he going for sake of going really. Hello Lisa, very understandable. But forgiveness, is also a gift as well. Sometimes, we carry our own crosses, which is our spouses. If your husband is doing transformation and renewal honest to himself, then have mercy. But, if he going in a different direction, still insulting you, and not admitting his sins, then that's the time to take a real deep reflection. If it is a physical abuse, then that is a different case. You need to let go. He needs to seek counselling both personal and spiritual. God loves the sinners who are repenting truthfully, not just for a show. And I totally agree, true repentance, not just "to show you" repentance. I will pray for you and hopefully you can forgive us as well. :)
keith sanico Hi Keith, Yes, forgiveness is not only important, a command from God, and also a very long on going process. I have lived with abuse from this man for decades. ALL types of abuse. I have prayed, sought Godly council, etc. I have been diagnosed with Complex PTSD. This is a man who says, “I’ve made bad choices”. That is a common known fact, not the truth of what he has done. There has been no true repentance, he is living with another woman while still legally married. Yes, I filled for divorce. If you want to understand what “cheap grace” is, I suggest that you read the article written by Dietrich Bonhoeffer. He’s a well known German pastor.

@@ch3blazinggospel669 our marriage counselor, pastor and several others have said the the fundamental problems that my wife continues to display in our marriage is grounds for divorce and have both suggested divorce for a couple reasons. One of those reasons is the toll it’s taking on my health. But like I said, I am married for God and the vows I made to him. I forgive my wife daily to be able to continue in this marriage. Where everyone but God has given up on this situation; leaning on Jesus completely is the only way. He guides me through the storm and in the end I will come through it and shine for his glory.

I am a believer and follower in Jesus Christ and also an associate psychotherapist. I have learned that some of us were abused as children, so we are subconsciously attracted to abusive partners in our marriages, in part because it feels normal and familiar. We don’t know what a loving and intimate relationship feels and looks like. I don’t believe God intends for all people to subject themselves to physical and emotional abuse while in a relationship with someone with untreated mental illness and/or severely addiction. Understanding mental illness and addictions is important with regard to relationships. In many cases one partner will need to get help and healing before they can engage in relationship. Some mental illnesses are very difficult to treat. I fear many women stay in relationships where they suffer abuse because they feel divorce is not an option. I hope individuals in this situation will seek help from a respected mental health professional as well as pray for divine intervention.

that exception is recorded only in Matthew who was a Jewish writer. if you read back in the Numbers and Deuteronomy you will understand exactly what Jesus meant. The exception of adultery applies to engaged people since the Jews considered betrothal almost equal to marriage. Further, if you read Mark's and Luke's account that exception of adultery or fornication is absent. their writings addressed the gentiles with a somewhat different culture. If you read well through your bible putting all the scriptures that address the issue of divorce and remarriage, you will find out, God hates divorce and nothing is permitted by God for couples to divorce and remarry.
Look at God’s relationship with Israel even the prophecies into the future, you’ll see God has « divorced « her as you understand. Paul wrote if you leave your spouse you should remain unmarried or else be reconciled to your spouse. As God forgives your sins so He demands you to forgive others without any categorizing of sins. Notice Jesus said « ...except it be for fornication and shall marry another commits adultery» he did not use adultery but fornication. Try to find out why.

Yes!! A lot of people put their spouse and marriage before the lord and people direct their focus on it and not Jesus. Anything we put before God and our relationship with him is an idol. Be careful. Also, there is some instances it’s worse to stay married if the person is toxic, abusive, adultery, unequally yoked. Some of these people will fill your life with toxicity and are not good for your life. God says to not partner with them. Have nothing to do with them.

The change in your relationship starts with you. Pray for yourself first and have Gods spirit show you your need to change first, and then pray for your husband. Nothing worked in my marriage until I started asking God to change me first. Now my wife and I are more in love than ever before. Luke 6:42 says "Or how can you say to your brother, 'Brother, let me take out the speck that is in your eye,' when you yourself do not see the log that is in your own eye? You hypocrite, first take the log out of your own eye, and then you will see clearly to take out the speck that is in your brother's eye". This is wisdom and it is what saved my marriage. I love how she made it clear that she didnt just hold on. She held on to God's Word. That's what God honors ... His word. That's what I did. I remember feeling like it's best for us to go our ways, but deep down it didnt sit well with me because I know that wasnt what God wanted and after asking Him to show me His will for my marriage. He led me to Isaiah 43:16-19. from that day, I have made a commitment to forget the former things and not dwell on the past; why? Because God IS DOING A NEW THING. Now, our marriage is beautiful. When i thought about divorce. I said to myself, if God loves marriages and the enemy loves divorce to make a choice who will we honor. I believe if we honor God and stay married and ask Him for help, He God will help us. I have learnt that issues in marriages are not bad afterall, they are just indicators that something in us needs to be developed in the image of Christ. we have missed the mark in that specific area. All it is, is to be worked on. There is a word from God pertaining to that thing which hurts so badly. Usually our ego and pride gets the better of us. I remember one night the Lord told me He was using my marriage to humble me because i was proud. Proud? i asked. "How? He replied, "if in a disagreement with your husband he sees YOU and not ME that's pride" I had to go and learn humilty and thank God for Andrew Murry's book. It was the starting context. Marital issues are usually caused by pride, someone or both doesnt want to take the low road. God is after humility

Oh my gosh...I’m in a divorce that is still going on for two years! It’s ridiculous! I feel the same way that God has a plan for us and I don’t believe divorce is the path. We were together for almost 30 years and have three kids. I pray continually as he is suffering an existential crisis with addictions. He hid so much from me and was always fearful I would leave. I don’t think he has the courage to stop the divorce and he is bitter and destructive. I pray constantly that God will enter his heart and soul to stop and be truthful. What God had put together.... A lot of couples get hooked up through infatuation and most times God has nothing to with it. But being the good God that he is. He turns our bad into good. For he knows we’re but frail human being that wants to have our own way. Therefore some are quick to say it’s God and when all the misery comes some have no choice but to pull teeth to make it work because they know God had not join them together. They join themselves. Thank God nonetheless that He takes the mess and make a blessing and that a few souls came to Him through it all.

My husband left me and our 1 year old while I was pregnant. We were “separated” for about 7 months but during that time he had an affair, and addicted to everything that involved LUST. He didn’t get her pregnant but the pain was just as immense. While he was gone, I prayed day & night for him to come home. I got closer to Jesus.. and He began to change me, and I really started to know what it meant to have a relationship with Jesus. My husband is home now, and God has answered my prayers. He is 100% willing to change, and we moved to a different state to get away from all the baggage. It’s still hard dealing with all the betrayal but I’m trusting in God. The fact that my husband came home was a miracle in itself. Stay faithful to the Lord, and seek him. He will take care of everything in His time.

Marriage is a sacred covenant between God, a husband and wife, that is not to be betrayed or broken. Betrayal comes in a marriage when you allow pride, strife and selfishness to come in. When things are going wrong, that's not the time to commit adultery or have affair's, this is when you need to communicate with each other and get to the root cause of your problems. Infidelity doesn't happen because of loneliness, it happens because of lust of the flesh, that hasn't been dealt with. A wife is not to blame when her husband cheats, nor is the husband to blame when his wife cheats. The blame lies with the one who cheated and them alone. A marriage can be restored and God can heal any marriage, but you have to be willing and want him to. It takes two in a marriage to make it work. Marriage is 100/100, not 50/50. My Christian daughter's so called Christian husband has just revealed that he is gay and has a boyfriend. My daughter was several months pregnant with their second child. Hubby is flaunting his lover and even brings him into the home. I'm am sickened. He was so strict before and now he has exposed their 2 yr old to all of this.
Just heartbreaking. I have asked a handful of prayer warriors to pray for this family and hoping and believing God will intervene.

Praise God for His redemption in their marriage. Reconciliation is beautiful, when possible. However, God DOES NOT value the institution of marriage above an individual. He cares when His children are hurt. He granted divorce because men were mistreating their wives, and breaking a covenant He created. If one party chooses to be unfaithful or abusive, it is their sin to own and repent of. It is not both of their sin. The spouse who was hurt should not be put in the position by the church or others to take back a destructive spouse, especially if it keeps them or children in a dangerous and abusive situation. The marriage can only be saved when there is true repentance (before God and the hurting spouse), and sincere change. To take a destructive person back without these is “cheap grace”! Grace from God was very costly. God loves you first.

Hi. It is very hard being with a man who doesn't know how to be with a woman. My husband comes to church and prays etc I am a Christian also. Husband is always trying to hurt me and be quite awful to me and he thinks I should be ok with it when I am not. I am worth much .ore than this cheap treatment from him. He mocks what I say he not interested in what I am talking about as though my words are not of any interest to him. He has become so mean hard and harsh like he has been taken over by the devil. The devil has it in for me and has been using everyone to try cone against me. But I go for god every time. I habe to distance myself away from how husband is with me as I feel at times I cannot take anymore of it. I don't know what to do for the best. I am strong in God and he just seems to go along to church n he not really taking it in if u get me. Like he going for sake of going really. Hello Lisa, very understandable. But forgiveness, is also a gift as well. Sometimes, we carry our own crosses, which is our spouses. If your husband is doing transformation and renewal honest to himself, then have mercy. But, if he going in a different direction, still insulting you, and not admitting his sins, then that's the time to take a real deep reflection. If it is a physical abuse, then that is a different case. You need to let go. He needs to seek counselling both personal and spiritual. God loves the sinners who are repenting truthfully, not just for a show. And I totally agree, true repentance, not just "to show you" repentance. I will pray for you and hopefully you can forgive us as well. :)

Yes, forgiveness is not only important, a command from God, and also a very long on going process.
I have lived with abuse from this man for decades. ALL types of abuse. I have prayed, sought Godly council, etc.
I have been diagnosed with Complex PTSD.
This is a man who says, “I’ve made bad choices”. That is a common known fact, not the truth of what he has done.
There has been no true repentance, he is living with another woman while still legally married. Yes, I filled for divorce.
If you want to understand what “cheap grace” is, I suggest that you read the article written by Dietrich Bonhoeffer. He’s a well known German pastor.

@@ch3blazinggospel669 our marriage counselor, pastor and several others have said the the fundamental problems that my wife continues to display in our marriage is grounds for divorce and have both suggested divorce for a couple reasons. One of those reasons is the toll it’s taking on my health. But like I said, I am married for God and the vows I made to him. I forgive my wife daily to be able to continue in this marriage. Where everyone but God has given up on this situation; leaning on Jesus completely is the only way. He guides me through the storm and in the end I will come through it and shine for his glory.

I am a believer and follower in Jesus Christ and also an associate psychotherapist. I have learned that some of us were abused as children, so we are subconsciously attracted to abusive partners in our marriages, in part because it feels normal and familiar. We don’t know what a loving and intimate relationship feels and looks like. I don’t believe God intends for all people to subject themselves to physical and emotional
abuse while in a relationship with someone with untreated mental illness and/or severely addiction. Understanding mental illness and addictions is important with regard to relationships. In many cases one partner will need to get help and healing before they can engage in relationship. Some mental illnesses are very difficult to treat. I fear many women stay in relationships where they suffer abuse because they feel divorce is not an option. I hope individuals in this situation will seek help from a respected mental health professional as well as pray for divine intervention.

that exception is recorded only in Matthew who was a Jewish writer. if you read back in the Numbers and Deuteronomy you will understand exactly what Jesus meant. The exception of adultery applies to engaged people since the Jews considered betrothal almost equal to marriage. Further, if you read Mark's and Luke's account that exception of adultery or fornication is absent. their writings addressed the gentiles with a somewhat different culture. If you read well through your bible putting all the scriptures that address the issue of divorce and remarriage, you will find out, God hates divorce and nothing is permitted by God for couples to divorce and remarry.
