    That said some compromises were made. 1 is the charger. You should use it in a cool, well ventilated spot.
    If you want to extend the battery life you should avoid running it under 43 volts. You also shouldn't leave it standing for long periods at full charge.

    Very helpful review! I even subscribed. Basically, you validated much that I knew or suspected. Now I'd like you to see you investigate the changing of default settings. What's true and what's not when it comes to adjusting speed for example. Some change the speed at the cost of changing the odometer, and vice-versa. I changed my P06 from 20 to 25.5. But some people went the other direction to 12.5 combined with changing P01 from 1 to 0. And ongoing default setting mystery that no reviewer has approached yet,. There has to be a perfect answer to this mystery :D

    I think the batteries slow charge like this (6 hrs) so they don't get too hot. There's nowhere really for the heat to go. We were testing aviation lithium batteries and they'd pretty much charge in 60 min. We made good use of the cooling fins on top.

    • @JeremiahMcintosh
      @JeremiahMcintosh  Před 4 lety +1

      Wow that would be awesome if these bikes would charge in 1 hour! I was surprised it wasn’t even the least bit warm after charging.

    • @rnordquest
      @rnordquest Před 4 lety

      @@JeremiahMcintosh That's why. Even my cell phone gets fairly warm. The bike battery is basically on slow charge the whole time. You'd have to delve into the battery management system to see what over charge, over heat protections it has. They might leave those out and just slow charge. Ours would bulk charge, equalize and then shut off the charge current to prevent damage. It was 24V 45aH and weighed 57 lbs, fairly light by aviation standards. But you could overcharge it until the cells blew up with full containment. The cell stack alone was $1700, then you add the case, 4 circuit boards, tons of software, internal cell heaters, etc.

    The IR temperature gun will not work on reflective surfaces such as the battery. Study emissivity. In addition, the IR gun measures temperature over a broad area, not at the red dot. The laser pointer is more or less a gimmick. Thanks for your review, we are enjoying both of our bikes.

    We added a 48v 15ah aftermarket battery to our xp's. I put the new batteries on the rear rack and ya cant really tell its
    there. I put a parallel "Y" connector in and hooked the battery up with fem "T" style deans connectors. We obviously get tons of extra range but the power is wonderful too, its like the stock battery when its first charged up. Its nice and easy. I do love our Xps but I do NOT like the way you have to pry the rear forks apart to get the rear tire back on. Every bike is going to get flats, slime or no slime, its going to happen. Not many people are going to be able to change a simple rear flat tire. Thats my biggest issue with the bike. And it sucks changing.Thanks for the vid's. I enjoy them.

    • @JeremiahMcintosh
      @JeremiahMcintosh  Před 4 lety

      That’s pretty cool! Where did you get the aftermarket batteries from and how much were they? Yes the rear fork tire changing definitely is an issue but if the flats not that bad you can repair it without taking it off the bike.

    • @rustymeyers1
      @rustymeyers1 Před 4 lety +1

      @@JeremiahMcintosh Yes you have to pry just right . My hands are all cut up etc. What a frustrating thing that should be easy. Theres no way for many people, they just won't be able to change their rear tire etc. I got the batteries off eBay, $291 theres cheaper ones but this guy shipped fast. I got the parallel deans style y connectors of eBay 3 for $10 (get parallel not series) and the fem t style deans connectors w/wire off eBay too. 3 for $10. You cant run both the stock battery and the more powerful battery at the same time or it could cook something so I put both of battery keys on 1 key ring. Now with a twist of the key I can have a fresh battery. The bike will go farther than my butt and forearms, hehe

    Guys, you realize that you can lower your handle bars? Your HB are too high. Your arms are like a zombie or the mummy position. This affects your ability to control the bike.
    A piece of advice, don't drain your battery to the fullest. It will drastically shorten its life. I understand that you are testing its limits, but after this or another, don't do it anymore. Try not to drain your battery below 30%. If possible, charge it even if 50-60% remaining. If you are not going to use it for a long time, don't charge it to 100%. Charge it to 80-90% if you are to leave it for 3-7 days. For weeks of no use, leave it at 55-60% charged. If you see 42volts there, don't use the motor anymore. You will just destroy your bsatteries early.
    If you limit yourself to PAS = 3 or 2, you should get 30-35 miles with pedaling. I'd probably get 40 miles if I were riding it as I would likely be in PAS 2 or 1 only. You would also prolong the battery. Of course, it's your e-bke so you do with it as you please.
    Thanks for this video. In our country, that same bike has a different brand name. And it's around U$600 only with the 10.4 aH battery. But I noticed the battery is 36v, so it should cost more if it is 48v. However, these motors can take 48-v easy, so it is just a matter of changing batteries. The controller also can handle an extra 12-v. But then again, you are on your own if something goes wrong. At most, it's just a change of controller. the motor should be fine handling that load. The controller is about U$30-40, maybe even less.

      @@JeremiahMcintosh Yes a spare is priced right from Lectric compared to other Companies. Except the whole point of me getting a "bigger battery" More powerful cells not an actual larger battery in size is so I can go further with just one Battery and not have to carry two as well as less charging cycles. I know their are companies out their that can add bigger better Samsung cell batteries to give you better range. I can imagine it would cost about $400-500 for it to be done.
