In this in-depth tour and review, Jack Haines finds out what makes this Australian-built coupe such a successful formula.
Riviera’s are boats designed to be used with deep-vee offshore hulls and strong performance. The 585 SUV will top out at 35 knots with the largest IPS1350 motors with 1,000hp on each side.
The exterior is a great mix of leisure space and well-designed areas for watersports and fishing. The lower cockpit is wide and packed with storage and with options for rod storage and live bait wells is perfectly suited to casting rods and fighting fish. The raised mezzanine deck is well-shaded and ideal for alfresco dining close to the galley.
Inside, the boat rings with quality and practical detailing. The woodwork is outstanding, as is the practical detailing. With the galley aft and the lounge area forward, there is a home-from-home feel to the saloon, which is packed with storage space and natural light from the huge saloon windows.
Below deck, there are three good cabins including a VIP ensure forward and a twin with sliding berths that switch between two single beds or a double at the touch of a button. The owner’s suite is amidships and it has direct access to a utility space/crew cabin which lies between the cabin and the engine room.

I'm just a little bit in love with this boat.
I live close to the factory at the Gold Coast. They are really well built yachts, and that reflects in their high resale value. Their offshore ability and general robustness is due to local South East Queensland marine conditions, you simply have to have something robust and brisk.

Thank you for that. With a Riviera boat I am again wondering about the positioning of the throttles. They seem so vulnerable to accidental knocking from passing passenger traffic at the top of stairs when the boat is pitching and rolling.

It will go 400 miles at the cruise speed of 27 knots. That is very good. I wonder what the range is when cruising at say 6 knots? I would guess it would be well over a thousand miles.

they have Maritimo s600/s60 for people that want a shaft drive.
Riviera is a better finished product, Maritimo has the better drive options. @@vorjay

SUV doesn't match with IPS..traditional shaftline would have been more appropriate
they make the Maritimo S60/S600 for the shaft drive.
