- If I were to say one thing about Charco Prieto is that photos and videos do not do justice to how impressive it really is in person. It is located within the rural mountains of Bayamón which is a relatively short 40-minute ride from San Juan. Once you park, you go upriver through some well-kept trail that crosses the river several times. This trail can take from 30 to 45 minutes before you get to the big waterfall. Along the way, you'll find several ponds that have their own beauty and charm. This has to be one of my favorite places to visit in Puerto Rico.
