I really really waiting for review of this model . It's so hard to find cool review about envy 13 with 12th gen low power CPU and OLED display. You fulfilled my curiosity, especially about cooling system and battery life. Thank you for reviewing this.
I have the Envy 13.3 X360 from 2020, with a Ryzen 7 4700U, 16 GB of RAM and I upgraded to a 2TB SSD in it, and let me just say this is an absolutely incredible do-it-all machine, fits into a really small bag but the keyboard is very comfortable even like that, it plays some older games I like to keep around, also has a pen support, excellent battery life, very quiet and cool. I ended up not buying a Steamdeck because it would be not significantly smaller than this laptop and I can do most games I'd play on the Steamdeck on this machine while also having a full PC at hand. My only complaint is that they should have made an LTE-equipped version of it.
Me i ve got from 2021 envy x360 15 inch version but very dissapointed, i never used it because from my 1 day of use it was burning even with a light use, just browsing, social media etc and the fan was very very loud. Very dissapointed, i didn t change it and the insurance expired... This year i bought samsung s8 ultra which is a beast, love it
@@amersiraz7455 10 hours for light use, low brightness, about 6 hours for proper work but no heavy apps, and about 3 hours for heavy apps/games. It's not hot at all, I can play Persona 5 for hours and the middle of the keyboard gets lukewarm with the fans on low-medium
Watched this video few weeks ago and came back to say to anyone who is buying this laptop as an editing laptop, as someone who uses this laptop as an image editing workhorse, the battery lasts me approx. 3 to 5 hours, depending on exactly what I'm doing.
You're killin' me Andrew, now I'm gonna dump the pavilion 14 plus I got recently for this coz better battery, better SSD speeds, and thunderbolt 4. Just a better proposition all around

Very nice PC. Camera is excellent and mics sounded good and clear. When you think about it soldering in 16 gig memory is really not an issue. How much more benefit would one get adding more memory in a machine with a "u" processor. Also you indicated that the iris graphics is a little dated. What would you replace it with? Like the easy access to the insides to be able upgrade the ssd and wifi card. Keyboard is nice. Display is excellent. HP did an excellent job in the design of this unit. You also did an excellent job in reviewing this PC.
I went through so many windows laptops a couple of years ago and never reached 9-10 hours battery life in real world usage. Including the x360 ryzen 5 and dell xps 15. Love Windows but I ended up settling on a MacBook Pro 14" as they're just so well optimised. Looks like this new x360 is better now at least with a proper display.
You need to get an Envy 15-in review unit fully specced out with the OLED display as well I'm looking between the OLED and the IPS panel for my custom build.

‘In the interest of transparency’…it would be nice if HP is also watching your thorough reviews and the comments given by watchers. It’s a very nice device but why did they decide to solder the RAM 🤔? Webcam looks fantastic but in the audio there are some crispy sounds noticable… I would love to see they offer the option to always be able to configure the base components…CPU, RAM, graphics, battery. Now they bring devices to the market that looks like always have a comprise between configuring options and fixed components. I know, I know…it’s hard to satisfy everyone. Keep the reviews coming!

For value you this is great there is no doubt about it. The Spectre gives you a few more bells and whistles and the design language is different and a tad more premium but for some it may not be worth the extra money. Also Spectre offers a 3:2 aspect ratio and some may prefer that.
Out of all these amazing upgrades i don't understand how did they turn the design back to 2019 models, just look at that damn bottom bezel its freaking humongous.

With battery saving mode etc, during browsing and listing music with Wi-Fi and medium brightness, I've got 5 or 6 hours, not 12 or 13 like you... Am I missing something ? Love from France Andrew 😁

Im using an older variant of this line, and despite the rather dim screen im very satisfied with almost everything. The one thing thats really annoying though is the way my pc sometimes disconnects from the wifi. I think it might be a software bug though
Looks like HP put everything into this unit except for one really cool thing. What? The heptic feedback trackpad from their HP Dragon Fly Chromebook. That would have just put it way over the top in coolness.
It just depends on what you are looking for. For me, both are great units and the MB Air M2 is silent. However, the HP pretty much checks all the boxes. It all comes down to which ecosystem you are in.
Hey, Which Laptop would u say is a better choice, This or the Lenovo Yoga 7i, This has a OLED Display but that has a P series Processor?, Is the U under-performing, (usage is watching movies, browsing and Uni (coding and programming), i can go with the i7 if that improves performance but thats also a U, or should i go with i5U and it will be enough? Need some help please. Most I'm buying a laptop for work and entertainment. NO gaming or maybe minimal. I absolutely need a big display (15.6" is perfect for me). I need natural colors and deep blacks. Don't care about popping colors much. I prefer true to life. I might have to do some multitasking like usually my chrome tabs take upto 2 - 2.5 GB of cache memory. I could do with a dedicated graphic card but can you please tell me if iris xe can handle my needs? I usually edit videos but mostly small size so I do not need a big cpu or gpu. So my questions are - For natural colors and deep blacks which 15" 1440p panel should I choose and what refresh rate? (I do not game but I need very smooth video quality) Can Iris XE handle 4k videos on 1440p screen? A 2 in 1 laptop with 15" 1440p resolution around my price would be a dream come true. My budget is around 1200$ slightly flexible. Thank-you for taking the time :)
Not being able to add more than 16 gigs of RAM to this laptop is a non-issue. Being a thin and light laptop running a "u" series processor, I can't imagine what programs anyone would be trying run on this laptop that it would need more than 16 gigs. Furthermore, even if it could take more RAM, it would be useless anyway as the processor is going to be the bottleneck in performance.
Envy's have had historically inconsistent sound performance through he years despite the B&O tuning. That is, near constant low volume or volume fluctuations. HP themselves don't seem to have a solution for the affected computers. This looks good and all but will that problem arise? It's the big red flag for me now and I am a long time HP user.
The stylus is cool, but not ready to buy laptop without hdmi. Also don't like "jaw" ports. I'd also prefer head phone jack near tracked end of laptop. My 360 dell has the same quirk of jack really far back near screen. I don't think there has been a laptop on the market for a while now that doesn't have some silly hang-up like poor port selection, usbc charging, etc. ThinkPad had an amazing laptop I saw around 2020 in bestbuy, but current gen has begun skimping on port selection. Nonetheless I still think my next laptop is going to be lenovo.
do not buy hp ...people from all over the world inckuding me are facing hinge problem with this laptop .. i bought this laptop 2 years ago and in those 2 yrs the hinges of this laptop broke 2 time one time just within 7 months of buying it and once now recently both the time the hinges broke which led to the screen coming out as the fist time laptop was in warranty hp fixed it only after i fought with them cuz otherwise they were putting the blame on me saying that i must have droped the laptop. this time as the issue is not unknown now hp has issued advisory for the issue so my laptop was fixed without a hasel but i was also told that even though the advisory is issued i only got it fixed for free is cuz i have bought extended warranty, so basically if u dont have extended warranty are screwed hp wont fix the issue for free once your warranty has expired. so dont buy HPX360

How is the X360 hinge holding up?
@@airrwalker still stiff despite the fact I've recently started to use it in tent mode in front of my office screen I dock it to as a second display.

I have this HP laptop and an identical Dell laptop which I've had for 6 years, the hinges are very, very sturdy. You don't have to worry about them.

Thats a windows bug that happens to me sometimes too. Updating to the latest windows solved it recently tho
