This is a verifiable fact acheived by simple counting. This includes the rate of population growth for Palestinian Israelis whose ancestors stayed/ended up inside the borders of Israel after it was created.

What is to be done?

You say 1948, but 1948 was a war declared by the Arabs on the newly form state of Israel. Israel did not start that conflict, the Arabs did. Yes, there are pockets of actions on both sides that are terrible and they should be condemned but the 1948 war was started by the Arabs, not Israel. The problem that you have is that Israel won the war. Sorry, but just because you don't like the outcome of the war does not mean you get to revise history. Just because you failed in your attempts at war does not mean that you get to fall back on international law. The Arabs were the one violating international law first. The Arabs were the one who attacked first. Even this conflict, they attacked first on Oct 7, in violation of international law. Why should Israel abide by international law when the Arabs do not?
Look, I do have sympathy for the ordinary Palestinian suffering in this conflict, I really do. I have also lots of criticism of Israeli policy that have resulted in the Palestinian suffering for so long. However, I cannot agree to blame everything on one side. There is a nuance conversation to be had. Conversations need to happen to solve this conflict. Blaming everything on Israel is not going to help the situation.
