- Segregated streets. Settler violence. Military harassment. This happens all over the occupied West Bank, but perhaps nowhere are these scenes more concentrated than in the Old City of Hebron. The once vibrant Palestinian cultural center is now ground zero of Israeli apartheid. It’s also where AJ+‘s Dena Takruri’s family calls home.
In this deeply personal documentary, Dena spends a day in Hebron retracing the footsteps of her father, who was born and raised in Hebron. She talks to Palestinians who are subjected to daily harassment from the Israeli military and settlers. And she is guided through the city by former Israeli soldiers, who tell her why their conscience is now forcing them to speak out against the occupation.

As a South African born under an apartheid system, I understand the dehumanization effects of apartheid and its segregation laws, especially when all your rights are stripped away from you and the oppressors see nothing wrong with treating you like a sub-human. When we say Israel is an apartheid state, we know exactly what we are talking about. An apartheid state is formed with human rights violation at its core, it does not deserve any support, in fact, it deserves a world condemnation.

This whole documentary is a portray of the tragedy the Palestinians are experiencing on a daily base. But the man who has to check in and out every time he leaves the house is the worst. On top of that he can't have family over to visit. I can't even imagine how horrible that must be.

Recently, I have been studying about Islam and the Arabic language for my own personal enrichment and because I do want to better understand the cultures of the Islamic nations. As I have closely followed news from the war, I really came to question the treatment handed down to Palestinian civilians who are only trying to live their lives, support their families and have hopes and dreams like every other human in this world. It's not even a religious matter. It is a matter of innocent every day people who are being horribly treated and expected to tolerate it. I am from Warsaw and I learned a lot about how ghetto here worked during wwII and how they divided streets, how everyone was checked, about walls and fences, memorials are on the streets, stories passed down my family

One of the best documentaries I've ever. I'm an 80-year-old American who until recently didn't pay much attention to the problems in Israel between Palestinians and Jews. The past couple of months I've gotten up to speed by watching videos like this one. I am definitely sympathetic with the Palestinians. I am disappointed that many of my friends seem to ignore the abuse inflicted upon Palestinians by the Israeli occupiers. Some seem to endorse apartheid and believe the Palestinians should just leave. Beyond comprehension.

Be warned this is a very skewed view of Hebron, please look up the Hebron Protocol to see how most of this city is governed by the PLO. The PLO agreed with Israel to partition the city and only a few streets have severe restrictions for reasons of security. Great Video, I spent a year in Jerusalem working at the U.S. Embassy. Most of my friends are Palestinians from Bethlehem. Salt of the earth. I have shopped in East Jerusalem and have never been treated unfairly by Palestinians. I have seen the discrimination first hand and it pains me. There is no room for humiliating someone, no excuse.

As a Filipino always watching Western Media being shown here in the Philippines, the Palestinians or Muslim Arabs were always portrayed in a negative way as a violent nation akin to uncivilized barbarians. After a lot of research, dating back to the 6th century BC up to the 1900s to the present, I must say I am so disappointed with the Israelis/Jews and appalled by their treatment of the Palestinians. What is current day Israel, West bank, and Gaza, was to be divided in 2 to form Israel and Palestine. The Israeli's agreed, and Palestine refused, because they said they would not share the land with Jews. The Palestinians then immediately turned to terrorism, and started slaughtering the Israeli Jews. The Jews fought back, there was a war, and Israel won. If Palestine would have just agreed to split the area, they would have equal land as Israel today.
Furthermore, every time the Palestinians have been given freedom, they use that freedom to launch kill as many people as possible with endless terrorism, just like all the other Muslim nations. This is why Israel refuses to let them have that freedom now, it is out of necessity for survival. I do agree that Israel needs to be much more careful with their shooting, and bombing of civilians, but I cannot blame them for maintaining military control over Palestinian areas. The plight of the Palestinians, is the fault of the Palestinians.
