It all makes sense. Hook was growing up and as he was being lowered into the water, his hand was bitten off and he escaped. Since, hook has been trying to get home and the fairy dust was the only way to do so. Peter made up lies so they could defeat him. Maybe his crew was the rest of the lost boys

I’ve also read somewhere that Hook could be the older version of Peter Pan and since Peter hates growing up + the fact that he sees how Hook turned out, he grows to hate Hook and tries to kill him a bunch of times because he doesn’t want to see his older self / He doesn’t want to grow up. My theories of Peter Pan (listen closely):
Peter Pan is a killer.
He convinces people to come to Neverland, where they can be children forever.
Neverland was given that place because people can never come back.
Once in Neverland, Peter Pan takes their life and their youth, and adds it on to his own.
The lost boys are ghosts or shells of boys who have been killed in Neverland.
The lost boys are able to escape if another soul joins neverland and can take their place.
Captain Hook was a lost boy who got away with his life, and his crew are those who lost their own children.
Summary: Peter Pan steals the life force of children to extend his own. Captain Hook is aware of his evil actions, and is trying to overthrow him to protect the children.

Conspiracy theory: Maybe captain hook is the good guy and peter pan is the villain. What I mean by that is like it says peter pan hated adults. So the theory is captain hook is a former post boy who escaped Peter pan and grew

Peter pan will ALWAYS be one of my favorite Disney movies. That being said, I know all the dark history of it. Fan thoughts considered, hook is a lost boy who grew up and was cast aside.
With all this dark info about Peter pan, one could make a movie where peter pan is truly horrific and a psychopath whereas, Captain Hook is the hero who is trying to free everyone from peter but eventually fails but with a bittersweet twist.
Heck, they could write a movie about hook in his early days where he was good but then accidentally knocked someone up resulting in Peter's birth who ends up growing to hate his father for letting him play in a dangerous forest area with the faries who accidentally performed a magical ritual on peter that got him stuck as a child or him assuming he killed his mother while she just died giving birth to him. The lost children could be children he abducted and made the faries perform a ritual on them making them forget who they are and never letting them grow so peter could always have someone to play with, even the psychotic things he does while Hook constantly tries to free them.

In OUAT Snow White has a daughter and sends her through a portal because the evil queen wants to wipe everyone’s memories and bring them to a land without magic when the whole snow white fairytale surrounds magic? Also Peter Pan in this story is a villain while Hook is the Hero? Also may I add that Peter in this story is actually Rumpelstiltskin’s conceited father and is the grandfather or Rumpel’s child?? Rumpel has a child? Just everything in the story is flipped or messed up. The OUAT world does not at all stick to the original stories of the original fairytales or legends. Non of it is factual (nor were the originals but that’s besides the point) and has nothing to do with the original story or portrayal of Peter Pan, J. M Barry, his family, the plays, nor the life of the author and his family.

Well, most stories + fairy tales had "dark sides" to the story (author/ creator) or both. Don't get me started on Lewis Carol (wanting to go alone on picnics with girls?!!!???) finally the mom's resisting this. In Pinocchio (he kills Jiminy by crushing him) Pinnoc gets in the book is pursued by assassins hanged by the neck, suffers to have his feet burned off, nearly fried alive, caught in a steel trap, and is transformed into a donkey. The Wicked Queen in Snow White is invited to her wedding only to be forced to wear shoes with red hot coals placed in them and has to dance until she dies! All of this soooo cringe worthy.

The fact that it was a play, then a novel, then a TV show, (and don't forget it started as bedtime stories), and the author kept changing the script IS SUPPOSED TO BE A BIG DARK SECRET? My money is on Disney doesn't give a rat's hindquarters who knows that.

In Zenescope Comics version of Neverland Peter is the villain and Hook is the Hero. Peter steals boys to feed off them to stay young. He killed all the fairies except Tinkerbell because they created portals to our world and he wanted to be the only one to have this power. Zenescope is a great adult comic company that twists the fairytales to more fit the original versions. You should check at the Alice in Wonderland stories, it has been their biggest success. The did Jungle Book and Oz as well as Grimm Fairytales.
How to make time travel a good idea

I realize that most people think that Peter Pan is a "Villain," I think most people confuse that for something called a mercenary, someone who does crazy things like killing others for nothing more than their own amusement and glory, or in more simple terms, isn't the hero or villain of the story. Furthermore, it's actually Wendy who is the real hero of the story and Captain Hook is more murderous than Peter Pan. No offense but I don't like how people assume how someone is the bad guy unless you have proof, as in, if the author says what's going on himself. Thinning out the Lost Boys may just be Pan flying them out and telling them not to return and making the Lost Boys fit through their passage ways may just be Pan trying to get them to lose a little weight before the day is done. That being said, I can't say the same thing for J.M. Barrie, who's real name is James Matthew Barrie. Maybe Barrie changed the story out of dissatisfaction with his character or maybe he didn't want Pan to sound too much like him

I am a big fan of the original 1904 version, and I know a lot about it, and I think this is a bit harsh. I have red the old book, and it is not that dark!😕

I hated Peter Pan so much because of his attitude towards the lost boys and being a pervert, hated Tinkerbell because all she wanted is attention, the Brothers and Wendy's parents made me so angry as a 6-year-old girl and the fact that Peter and Wendy fell in love with each other. Now, I hate the movie MUCH MORE than then/
