You fitted the box upside down. Fitted like that gravity will eventually cause the latch to drop so that the door unlocks and swings open and closed in the wind... that's what breaks them in the first place. If you fit it the other way up then any vibration over time caused by wind etc. will not cause the door to open as the latch needs to move up to unlock rather than down.
You can fit it either way
@@essexcountyelectricalltd yes, I know you can fit it either way but if you fit it the other way up then the door will stay closed. Look at the design of the latch... It's obvious.
🤦♂️
Looks like a good product, could have done with that years ago. Keep up the good work buddy 👍.
Thanks mate, i know it's a little pricey but a quick fix and looks really neat.
Looks like a nice simple job 😎
Yes mate really simple.
Thanks for this -ideal 👍
Your welcome, thanks for watching.
Hi there. Don’t suppose you know if this would also work on a external box not recessed? Our door got smashed off years ago and I can’t get a smart meter fitted until door is fixed. However it’s a deeper box due to no cavity in wall it’s attached to. Cheers
Hi Andy, It would only work on recessed meter cabinets unfortunately but there could be something out there im sure
So when do we get a video for actual installation of outside wall flush meter box! DIY job? The debate about how to fit the damp course pvc before fitting box. No gas line of course. Often people debate the validity of how to prevent damp bridging the air gap between inner / outer course. Look forward to reading and seeing this job for real and not just diagrams the fuel the debate. Thanks. R
67 quid. Ouch.... However it does look like a great job and would save alot of time I guess
Must of gone up a bit I paid £55. But not much else out there. Works really well.
£75 now a bit extortionate _ I'm considering making my own box at this price
When you drill on the left side, is it safe to not get to the feed cable on the wall?
Yes only drilling into the brick not deep
But how is a damaged back box replaced? I'm guessing that the electricity supplier has to disconnect the incoming supply to install a completely new box?
Yes that's correct, it's only the doors that normally brake
@@essexcountyelectricalltd Break...
So you just completely damaged that top right brick allowing a route for water ingress. not even sealed externally so water is definitely getting in there. Would this have also damaged the cavity closer?.
A tiny piece of the brick come away where the drill bit went in as it was about 10mm from the edge, the brick is fully intact. Water ingress and cavity is not a worry with this.
I really want one but no one i can ask to drill it..
Have you the link for these pal?

Left all the shit in the bottom of the old box. "done" 🤣
So you would prefer to watch a video cleaning sh*t out of a box. Your watching the wrong videos buddy, thanks for the comment though 🤣
