    Now I know what people are doing with the Ventures. Bought my 83' last year, and kept getting other owner's telling me to do this with my machine. Thank for the tour. Best wishes on the rest of your mods.

    dude that's sweet. I wish my GL1000 had the space between the frame rails to use the electric choke. Had to make manual choke, have to manually twist idle screw to keep running when cold, tries to run away when hot.
    please do tell the secrets about the goldwings.
    Perhaps we can figure out how to contact off of here.
    thanks

      There is a coolant line that goes across the top of the motor to transfer coolant from head to head, that's the line I used.

    Unfortunately without major fabrication the mono shock suspension on these bike do not have an aftermarket replacement. With some searching used replacements can be found for reasonable prices.

    you know if you cram a throttle body form a small cat say 1.3 metro and weld some injector bungs in to the runners you are half way to a working efi set up.

    Hi PKR! THANK YOU for this informative video and GREAT JOB!! Been riding these Ventures since '87 and am currently wearing out my 6th one of them (you can see my current scoot by clicking here if you would like: czcams.com/video/8cctFSfixBA/video.html )
    I am VERY interested in what you found out after dynoing this set up? Or, if nothing else, what is your seat of the pants impression of performance on this compared to stock? Also, did you rejet the Escort carb and if so do you recall what you used for jet sizes and where you got them? I LOVE the fact that you chose to go 2 barrel = seems like that should really help in the performance..

    • @pkrcustoms1040
      @pkrcustoms1040  Před 6 lety

      Puc Puc thank you for subscribing. I have not had it dyno ed as I have been very busy in my shop but with the mods in this video I can tell you that the bike is faster than a stage 2 97 vmax. I can tell you from experience that it is night and day from stock. As far as rejet ting the carb - it is not needed, at all. The bike runs beautifully right out of the box.

    • @pucpuc937
      @pucpuc937 Před 6 lety

      No flat off idle flat spots or tendencies to starve in high R's? It seems like your set up should be much more throttle responsive as CV carbs (as stock) tend to be less responsive because they are vacuum operated but,, and you obviously already know this - the stock Ventures of that era performed remarkably and those V-Max's are awesome!! PK,, what did you do about the spark advance vacuum line for the TCI that normally attaches to the carb bank,, or,, is your bike an 84 so the advance vacuum's off one of the number 2 intake manifold (where we normally hook up to sync).. The 83's had that advance line attached to the carb.. Thanks for your thoughts!!

    • @pkrcustoms1040
      @pkrcustoms1040  Před 6 lety

      Puc Puc the only time I've ever had a "flat spot" is when I didn't let the bike warm up before I wrote it and that's only because of the fact that with the carb setup that I'm running the bike will run a little bit richer than stock. But once the bike warmed up there were no issues whether it be quarter throttle or Full Throttle and as far as the higher RPMs are concerned that's where the two barrel progressive carb comes into play perfectly because when you're using the Single Barrel to cruise around the bike doesn't use the second Barrel until you crack the throttle and introduce the extra air and fuel into the intake at that point again you're dumping more fuel at higher RPMs so there's no issues with starving the motor of fuel. As far as the vacuum line for the TCI my bike had a vacuum line that ran off of cylinder 2 that went to a T that connected the carb Bank and the TCI together but as I found through hours upon hours of research the vacuum line off of cylinder 2 is actually all you need to run the TCI properly. The reason it hooked to the carb Banks was so that the bike would meet EPA regulations from 1983 when it came to emissions.

    I cant imagine a GW going much over 105 mph, they are pretty ill handling at that speed even when they were new. Sounds like you are calculating on paper using their steep OD top gear. A GSXR1100 of the same era with about 100 rwhp could only go 160ish and that was with way less frontal area and a vastly superior frame....

    • @jeffdoak8444

      Top speed on a venture is about 120 miles per hour.
