      Oh, hahahaha. Yes, we are concerned with light pollution. FYI, Las Vegas is a lot more than the Strip. We are 15 miles from the Strip. We have a quiet, dark neighborhood without any streetlights and no tall structures anywhere around - because that's the rule in this area. That's why we bought our houses here and that's why we object when they want to build a giant structure right in the middle with a million lights and a spire so high it has to have special FAA lights.

    The irony is that in 2019 the developer who later sold this lot to the Church had tried to develop homes on it, but his application was shut down by the same neighborhood group that is now opposed to this. Ultimately you have no right to control what someone else builds on property you don’t own, so if you’re going to try to block development, . . . be careful what you wish for.

No. Build that large building where it is allowed. Respect the ordinances as they are. No one should be able to bribe to get what only they want because they think they are special. This is outside religious exemptions. Just because you are religious you do not deserve special treatment.

    I've always thought their temples are wqy over the top. No religion needs sooooo many huge temples, and all they're all over the world, mind U..! Out of the 7 deadly sins, pride is one. Their temples are closed to every other person's religion. I was raised Lutheran. I attended catholic and methodist churches with my neighbors growing up. EVERYONE was allowed in our churches. My nephew is LDS, I could NOT attend his wedding, in their temple. Had to stand outside! Which i believe, was Not right.
    It's like they're showing off to people how much money their churches have. I don't agree with huge temples, not one bit.

      @LeopardAppaloosa755 Před 3 měsíci +2

      Beth, I can see why you are struggling. You don't know the difference between a Church and a Temple. Anyone can go in a Church. As for the Temple, only those who live a certain standard can enter a Temple. Your nephew chose to get married in the Temple and exclude people who don't meet that standard. He could have chosen to get married in a church or a park or a judge's chambers where everyone could enter. But he didn't. That was HIS choice. Bottom line - he didn't want people like you there.

      Well it certainly wasn't the LDS Church that forced him to perform the marriage ceremony in the Temple. That was his choice. Many, including myself, chose to not get married in the Temple so our non-member family could be there. Then at a later date we were sealed in the Temple. Again, many people do it this way, so for the relative to get all bent because they couldn't attend the Temple wedding is just so much nonsense. The LDS Church had nothing to do with it. It was all the choice of the bride and groom.

It originally was an area of small 3 to 5 acre mini ranches. Some of those were then allowed to be carved up into 1/3 - 1/2 acre plots. Then the subdivisions came in. The area has long ago lost its rural character. As for the property values, they will skyrocket if an LDS Temple is built just as did the Sunrise Mountain values when that Temple was constructed. No it is not. Stop the pity party and whining. No one is stopping a religious building to be built. It just MUST respect and follow the rules everyone else does. They need to respect the wise elders who enacted those laws of a maximum height of 35'-0" and NO illuminating lights at night. The wise elders did it for everyone so EVERYONE could enjoy a unobstructed view of Lone Mountain, not for an entitled ultra wealthy group to bribe a few bribable elected officials to get what they want.This is bribery and elitism that its selfish meaneuvers iwill bring hate adn resentlment on it. It's brought in on itself. Just follow the rules. FYI Jesus Christ NEVER wanted to be idolterized OR have ANY wealth or possession associated with his teaching. I suggest you read a bible from Eritrea that is over 200 years old and in Latin. The version of the bible today is really basterdized

      That's like asking you why you have more than one dress or pair of shoes. 🤦‍♂️ For the members on the west side of town driving 45 minutes one direction to attend the Temple is a real inconvenience. It would be like you asking why the Catholics or Protestants have more than one church. Ridiculous indeed.
