Today Ratty & I are picking some otaheite apples with the bamboo pole & bucket......the oldschool way with a vine to tie it up! Also known as Rose Apple or Malay Apple, this fruit is originally from Australia/South Pacific but is now grown all over the Carribean. Definitely a different taste than the apples we get in North America!

Ratty is the future of Ras kitchen. I have been watching this for a while now and I'm so impressed by how much Ratty knows. Moko has taught him well and Ratty will be even more smarter than many kids his age. Learning about what the land can provide is something to pass down, its something you cant learn in the classroom but hands on. God bless.

Jamaica is in the western world, located on the same continent as the United States of America..as a matter of fact, Jamaica is only an hour 30mins flight from Florida and only 3hrs 45mins flight from NYC...lol many kids in Jamaica are also very much into sour patch kids candy and less of fruits...Ratty just grow very blessed and lovely...that's how I was raised also

I love this video! Ratty is so sweet, resourceful and a joy to behold. The 🦟 definitely got him. Those apples are called pomerac in Trinidad. They are delicious! Birds eating the fruit is evidence of a healthy ecosystem.

In my native country of St.Vincent & The Grenadines🇻🇨 we call those apples ( Plum Rose ) Soft Like Cotton In The Inside, Some Of Them Are Purple And Darker Shade Of Red.
Here in Belize we call them Malay Apple. They get large and turns dark purple too.

I love those apples. Here in the Caribbean is Costa Rica que call them “Water Apples”. You can also eat the fucsia flowers before it fruits.

Yes indeed, I remember telling my neighbor the same thing back in 🇯🇲 Jamaica in country.
That's what I was thinking! Lol! That's how it was in Virginia if some fell. But if it ended up being a whole lot of fruit falling on our side, my grandma would make preserves/jam in mason jars and share with that neighbor.😋
Here in Costa Rica we call those apples "manzanas de agua" !!! They are sweet and full of water!!

I stayed at a friend of friend’s house in St. Ann’s, in Runaway Bay.
He had all his expensive construction & scaffolding equipment in his yard, but he was more concerned about someone stealing his breadfruit. I didn’t understand that thought process. Before he went back to Canada, He cut down the breadfruit tree so no one would steal the breadfruit while he was gone, but left all the equipment out.

A mtn apple tastes n looks more like a cross between a sweet sop n a custard apple. It's not common n can be found in South FL too, had it once. It's good.
