This Nostalgiaween could there be Nostalgia Critic reviews of Alvin and the Chipmunks Meet Frankenstein (1999) and Alvin and the Chipmunks Meet the Wolfman (2000)?
xmen 2 was best, wolverine origin the worst, could you review dylan dog the movie? it's probably the worst comic book adaptation ever
Review South Park: Bigger, Longer & Uncut.
Review The Simpsons Movie.
Could you please do a Neil Breen review, you don’t have to do all of the movies and I don’t mind which one you choose, I’d just love to see NC review one.
Fassbender's not just trying. He's succeeding. This is definitely a bad movie, but that man just doesn't give bad performances.
Yeah Magneto and Quicksilver were easily the best performances. Magneto and his family should've been an entire story by itself. That was a part of the movie that deserved to be in a better movie. Quicksilver was entertaining tho too.
@@goldenstatewarriors9418 Dare we call it Venom Syndrome? Lord knows I wish Tom Hardy's performance had a movie to match it!
Even if it is a bad movie, you can at least enjoy the performance that Michael Fassbender gives if he is in the movie because he is just so damn talented.
He's physically incapable of it
You should watch the film frank!
Its my fav role he's ever done
So Magneto is doing this because he lost his family, quicksilver reveals he is family....AND THEY DONT USE THIS! It’s baffling, why wasn’t that used to motivate him to fight Apocalypse?
They...they didnt?!
@@FireflyArc yeah that was cus if I remember marvel went and retconned that. Let's hope it's fixed for the MCU's sake
That was actually quite stupid, they could have had Quicksilver tell him he is his son and that would be the motivation Magneto would get to turn against Apocalypse. Hell even have a scene at the end of the movie where they start to kind of bond because Magneto and Quicksilver are usually the two best parts of those movies.
@Dylan Sharp originally in the comics, scarlet witch and quicksilver were Magneto's kids
But... they DO use it. He talks his dad out of it, or you skipped that part of the movie??? He runs up and tells him about his father and Magneto realizes HE is his father. It's pretty blatant.
"As you know" should be replaced with, "For those unaware". Makes far more sense then just repeating obvious information.
It sounds smarter too.
You're right.
That requires effort to think of though xD
Yep, that's brilliant.
Exactly. Hell even “as some of you may know” is better because it implies that some of the people they are speaking too are unaware.
I found it insanely cute that Quicksilver took the time to save that one girl's goldfishes in that scene too.
Quicksilver sucks
@@Devilsblood It's ok if you don't like the character but no need to be rude! Also, you could explain why you hate him instead of just saying '' He sucks! '' and nothing else.
@@ladypool1404 why? I'm getting sick of the whole "explain yourself" line. I'm just letting you know that this character is overblown and overhyped. He was the most annoying part of the xmen movies.

I never got the Mystique love in this, like one minute she's trying to assassinate the president, the next she's some great liberator who inspires Mutants around the planet. - Isn't thst what Xavier and Magneto are supposed to be, with younger Mutants falling into either ideology.

16:15 there’s actually a deleted scene of them going to the mall, in fact it’s kind of charming. There were a lot of scenes focusing on the young x-men that got cut and honestly I think that’s this movies biggest downfall.

Oooooooooooh oooh oooooooh ooo-ooooooooh ooooooooooooooooh
"He's the most hated X-Men, why?"
Because all of these movies never got Cyclops' character right and for a lot of people this is their only experience with him.
Cyclops was my favorite mutant growing up. Cyclops, Emma Frost, and Psylocke were my top 3.
I have a lot of problems with Cyclops, but after talking with my brother a lot, I’ve realized that it’s a very personal dislike. I actually have a lot in common with Scott, and I always see the worst of myself reflected back at me. I’ve never seen a version of him that fails to make me want to punch him.
The movies definitely got cyclops right. He alway been an ass in the tv shows and comic
He was being facetious, having just said that line after Cyclops was a dick to Jean, which is unlike him obviously. Not saying Cyclops wasn't an ass in the comics/show but not so blatantly and rarely is he such a dick to Jean.
Dakota Johnson naw this is his 1st time ever meeting her. I’m pretty sure he would be an jerk to her the 1st time they met
Troubled Production: To what extent isn't fully known, but what is known is that Singer’s habit of being absent from set caused problems on set of X-Men: Apocalypse, meaning Newton Thomas Sigel (the film’s cinematographer) and Simon Kinberg (the writer and producer) had to direct some scenes. Olivia Munn revealed that Singer abruptly left the Montreal set to fly down to LA to deal with a “thyroid problem” (something most on set questioned as to why he didn't treat in Canada), returning after only 10 days while simply texting actors “Keep filming” or “It’s fine. Just keep filming without me” in-between. Sophie Turner revealed that Singer was, in her words, "unpleasant" and implied that the on-set tension between Singer and Rami Malek on Bohemian Rhapsody also happened with her. Oscar Isaac also hated the costume and makeup he had to wear to play Apocalypse, which according to him prevented him from being able to properly move or even turn his head to face the actors due to how restrictive and heavy the full-body suit was. Jennifer Lawrence also described the production as "all chaos, no fun" in an interview and it’s understandably theorized by fans that her experience on this set was the main reason Lawrence decided to leave the franchise, though she came back for Dark Phoenix. Olivia Munn also later complained about Singer's and Kinberg's lack of knowledge of the original comics, revealing that the two knew almost nothing about Psylocke's backstory, and originally wanted the character to wear a generic Movie Superheroes Wear Black outfit, resulting in her having to lobby for something closer to her comic outfit.
So the exact same problems faced by other Singer productions ranging from Superman returns to Bohemian rhapsody. Also why does the guy keep leaving his own movie?
An idea I had is that he should do "Shrek month" where every week he reviews each of the Shrek movies. It could be fun.
He should do that the month where shrek first premiered

True
@Captain Phoenix That sounds awesome! I loved the Shrek movies growing up!
Hed rip into shrek 3
That sounds like a cool idea indeed. My only concern/worry is how Doug/Critic will talk about Shrek Forever After. I know it came after… that movie, but I consider it to be a fantastic and underrated conclusion to the trilogy. Yeah, I said “trilogy”… I don’t like to think about that abomination.
Now all he needs to do is First Class, The Wolverine, Days of Future Past, Deadpool, Logan, Dark Phoenix, and New Mutants.
Why didn’t he go in order?
I was gonna say he already did Deadpool but I remembered that he did Deadpool 2 and not Deadpool 1
What about New Mutants?
I could have swore he already did Logan...
And new mutants
Couldn't agree more that Quicksilver's "Sweet Dreams" scene was the most entertaining
Followed by the Wolverine scene
I really don't like it at all. It's trying to hard to capture the magic of the previous movie and is overly silly.
Although the Quicksilver scene is larger in scope in this one the special f/x are a lot shoddier

I also never liked it much. Looks like something people would out on CZcams just to impress
22:12 For whatever reason, I will never get tired of that Quicksilver slo-mo cliché. I've seen it in X-Men Apocalypse, DoFP, Angry Birds Movie, Sonic the Hedgehog and Space Jam 2 and it's still fun to watch.
And Over The Hedge!
Every time I see Scott and Jean together, I always wonder what do they actually see in each other? Even in the animated series I always felt like her being with him had a "only because I was head cheerleader and he was captain of the football team" vibe.
Well she did cheat on him with a Chinese constellation. I mean Marvel kinda vetoed that implication but I still stand by it.

As you know, you must never use the phrase “As you know” when writing exposition in a screenplay. However, I have found that even good movies are guilty of having one instance of this lousy phrase. Here is a list of them:
- Chinatown
- Enter the Dragon
- Isle of Dogs
- A Charlie Brown Christmas
- The Shawshank Redemption
- Life is Beautiful
- The Book of Life
- Balto
One Flew Over The Cuckoo’s Nest, The Princess Bride, and even The Departed should also be added on your list of Good Movies that have that phrase.
It does seem like leaders of superhero teams tend to get hated on: Cyclops, Leonardo, Superman, etc... Hell, I remember the Honest Trailers for Avengers (2012) claiming that Captain America was "no one's favorite character". Perhaps it's b/c they're usually the boy scout type that many find to be bland by default. Though there are lots of exceptions such as Optimus Prime.
The Marvel films had to undo all the damage of the 90s. The reason the X-Men exploded in popularity by that era was because they were seen as the bad boys of the Marvel Universe. The MCU re-envisioned characters like Captain America; he was no longer the patriotic doo-gooder of old always spouting war stories, but just a kid out of time wanting to stand up to bullies.
And yes to all of this there are some exceptions like prime but even hes boyscouty here and there but all these characters have dimensions here and there and are relatable on a level that's why they are so good and so bad as well
The 90's ? They gave the boyscouts their best goddamn arcs and villains.

Apocalypse should have a body like Thanos. I was expecting some CGI but no... they had to make a story that he transfers his consciousness into another body which explains why he looks like that.
Budget reasons I guess?
They did use cgi to raise his height to about 7-8 feet
Giving him a CGI body would have been a lot better if it was done well... and a lot worse if it was done poorly. I for one am grateful that they didn't give us a terrible CGI bad guy, because let's face it, the odds weren't in their favor.
@@Darkprosper Apocalypse is one of those guys, who actually would work better as a CGI character, but with the writing he got it'd be just polishing a bowl of diarrhea.
They didn't need CGI to make him look taller and more menacing. Could have been the same dude in the same costume but using forced perspective and other camera tricks to make him look like he was 8 feet tall.
The Pyramids in the “Revenge of the Fallen” were mostly shots of the real pyramids. The only time they used CGI was when the one pyramid was being destroyed. Hell, the scene where John Turturro was climbing the pyramid was real. Yes, the Egyptian government let an actor climb one of the pyramids.
God, that's awesome for Turturro. :D
Brian Humerez Yep. At one point while filming the pyramid scene, Turturro started crying and said "You just don't get to do this in movies. You don't get to shoot in a place that's 4,000 years old."

How bad are your effects if you can't even remove a green screen correctly. Even amateurs know how to do that.
If the only thing that can stop you is the Phoenix Force I wouldn't call that "being easy to kill" lol
"I'm going to fight for what I have left."
Well, shouldn't be a long battle.
One of my least favorite parts about this movie is how lazy Apocalypse was included.
Imagine this alternative for a second: after the Apocalypse opening scene in Egypt and the credits, we cut to 1973, where Magneto has barricaded the White House, and is announcing the existence of mutants to the public decades before they were in the previous timeline.
Watching this on a tv screen is a couple: David and N’Dare Munroe. They had previously agreed they were going to stay in America. But now that mutants were just revealed in a terrorist attack, they fear the backlash their daughter will face, since she’s one of the few mutants who shows signs before puberty (her white hair). They decide to move somewhere that news is slower to reach, in hopes she will be kept safe.
Cut a decade later, and we see Ororo, like in the comics, being trapped in a building with her dead parents after a bombing. The fear, anger, and grief all combine to awaken her mutant abilities, and she summons a chaotic storm to free herself. This immense display of power registers on Apocalypse instruments, which are designed to seek out the strongest mutants, and the protocol awakens him.
We have a clear illustration of how this is a branch timeline, and rather than Apocalypse apparently having never been woken up in the previous timeline due to extra-vigilant rug-placement, we get a more comics accurate epic scene. (Not to mention it’d give us the chance for Storm to finally have an accent).
Agreed. And if they really wanted to show Apocalypse backstory, just have ocasional flashbacks of him explaining his motivations. maybe evn having him actually say his "only the storngest will survive" mindset
Love it, so much better than how the film handled him

My issue with Logan is that regardless of how well done it is as a movie it still basically invalidated the rest of the movie series by having the X-Men killed off by Xavier of all people and to top it off doing away with almost every other mutant on the planet and nobody doing anything about it. Hence I prefer to see Days of Future Past as the conclusion to the series too.
@@Ryodraco If Apocalypse and Dark Phoenix weren't made, I'd agree with you. But since they are, I consider Logan erasing a mistake.

I'm pretty sure they're using wooden bows because they knew about Magneto's powers.
I don't know about the rubber batons though...
That quicksilver scene it’s so iconic dude
Was psylocke’s costume really that distracting I remember focusing on the scene just fine.
Her outfit seem to fit in to the world the created for the film as far as I was concerned.
The way I see it, if you are used to the comic characters looking like themselves... you don't really notice it as it's what you expect. When you are used to all black leather grounded outfits... it seems distracting. That's how I've seen most of the complaints go.
Her out fit was bad I’m sorry
She was not prepared for that role at all
Out of shape n all
@@dannymffanta4286 The actor fits that outfit fine, albeit could use more muscle (as do a loooot of the actors for their respective characters). The outfit just looks tacky when everyone else's outfits look sleek and minimal.
Danny MF Fanta Out of shape? Are you fucking kidding me, you consider Olivia Munn of shape?! Also that’s how she looks in the comics, so don’t blame the movie.
It's like the directors failed to understand that a big reason why Wolverine was so popular was because out of all the characters, he was the one that was most similar in behavior/personality to the animated TV show
What about Xavier and Magneto?
I disagree. Let me give u examples of of Comic book characters that were adapted differently from the source and were liked more than in the comics: Heath Ledger's Joker, Iron Man, Cap America ,Thanos and many others.
James Marsden's Cyclops was pretty close to the comics as well and not many people liked him because Cyclops is just dull. It's not about being accurate.
Shadow Priest uhm no they liked Cap because Evans not because of the character or it’s interpretation (hell they had to do Civil War just to make a billion) Cap in general is a hard sell outside of the USA , given that he’s tied to American and its patriotism
Tony was an adaptation from Stark earlier in his life
Heath Ledger still didn’t knock off Hamill Joker of the throne though and that one is as close as they come with interpretation
Shadow Priest yeah, but he said the CARTOON, not the comic. The cartoon allowed people to get attached without having to read. It’s kinda like Batman tas, where people are still saying that those were the best versions
20:52 I definitely agree with that issue. 😆 when Tony Stark sees Natasha (Black Widow) & Steve (Captain America) again in Avengers Endgame, they're not happy to see each other again either but that makes more sense, they don't even like each other since their first team up movie.
"We already know who survives because of the end of Days of Future Past..."
Dark Phoenix: *"Allow me to introduce myself"*
Yeah, and we didn't see Mystique among the survivors.
Actually, Psylocke was meant to have a very different outfit in the movie, the actress is the one who requested for the outfit to be loyal to the comics
Yeah I thank Olivia Munn for that effort. Originally it was meant to be all black with a purple sash. She said the costume was Purple with a red sash. They then tried to say what about black with a purple sash? And she almost lost it as the sash is red and not purple. As someone who SUPER cares about comic costume accuracy, finding out Olivia Munn was/is as anal about getting costumes right as me made me adore her. Olivia forced the costume to be as Jim Lee costume accurate as possible. She even brought a ton of comics about Psylocke to Singer and Kinberg and asked where her character was going and was very let down to find out they both knew absolutely nothing about Psylocke and her role was basically just Fox mandated and had no care from Singer or Kinberg. She had to fight to get anything Psylocke onscreen. She and January Jones are both actresses who were really screwed over by their directors. January Jones was in similar situation in First Class where she had to beg to be able to do anything onscreen and was very unhappy she kept being directed to be cold and lifeless despite her saying Emma Frost from her studies was a lot more lively and snarky... but director said 'no your cold and emotionless' so all the reviews of her performance being cold and lifeless were a directing choice.
@@Fordo007 The costume still looks pretty ridiculous... the worst shots are when they're on the rock face and she's just doing a power stance the whole time.
@@Fordo007 Ugh, tell me about it, Enma is my favourite X-MEN, she got an awful appearanc ein Origins Wolverine, very underwhelming and forgetable role in first Class (even tough the actress looked JUST LIKE HER and in the Hellfire club saga non the less) and then she got killed off-screen on Days of future past.
Like seriously, way to get your favourite character botched on the big screen, twice.
Credit to Olivia, she does look the part perfectly.
The only thing missing was her butterfly insignia, when she uses psychic energy. Hope she joins the MCU at least.

15:44 Well, Gambit was already an adult in the late 70s, as seen X-Men Origins: Wolverine. I know that movie has been deemed non-canon, and also contradicts Cyclops being a teen in the 80s now, but that’s the only version of Gambit we got in this series.
Xmen should be a tv show where each episode focuses on the battle between using talents for good, bad or ugly.

Despite what NC says, there isn't actually anything wrong with the term and it can be used appropriately. It was hardly worth dwelling on in THIS movie either, given all of the other problems it had that he glossed over.
@@jonathancampbell5231 It's used best when we the audience know exactly as much as our protagonist, but someone else in the plot either does not, or is at a loss to explain current circumstances. Shows depicting investigations of past events use this often, such as crime dramas or private investigator TV series. However, many poor writers use it very lazily or when we don't need to reminded of what has happened, similar to a sloppy flashback sequence.
I personally go out of my way to say 'As you know' as much as I can in real life so if for some reason I ever become famous or do something famous when they make a movie about me... they'll be forced to have 'as you know...' used a ton in the movie and the excuse it's not realistic will not be able to be used.

"Bryan Singer" and "Sodomize" should not be used in the same paragraph.
Especially considering it is just allegations and not confirmations.
25:29 Oh, it's the "Ant-Man meeting Falcon" detour.
Hey that detour still served the movie plot. They needed to go that facility to get the piece needed for their heist plan, as well as showcasing how far Lang had come in his training.
Plus, it helped put him on the radar for future avengers movies.
23:25 As well, Infinity War established that Thanos was the main character, & in Endgame I would say Tony, Cap, & Thor were the main characters for that one.
Deadpool: Which Professor? These timeslines are confusing....
He didn’t say “which professor” he said the last name of the actors
"McAvoy or Stewart? These timelines are confusing."
Nostalgia Critic: [talking about Quicksilver] "Can we just call this series 'X-MAN' and make it a series all about him?"
Honestly, I've never understood why FOX DIDN'T do that. That'd be kinda like if Jackman's Wolverine solo movies, The Netflix version of Punisher, Gal Gadot's Wonder Woman, Tom Holland's Spider-Man, Black Panther, Hobbs and Shaw, and Lego Batman didn't happen.
Oh well, at least we have those tie-in commercials he shot. Those are pretty sweet.
I think it's lack of imagination. He's an incredibly powerful character so you run into problems with trying to create plots that challenge him. Granted, I think a typical hero's journey of him learning his powers and that Magneto is his dad would be worthwhile.
However, there hasn't been much depth added to him in the source material (like nil), so nothing for them to take from and alter it until it is ruined.

Review Scott Pilgrim vs. The World! I want to see how well it holds up after 10 years 😄 So many people didn’t like it at first but then it grew on them and it was always considered ahead of its time. I’d LOVE to see your take on that!
I was introduced to the 90s show at a very young age and grew up with it. To me, Apocalypse was the ultimate villain, menacing and intimidating, insanely powerful both as a mutant and as an influential leader. He had a detailed plan and consistently worked on it. It took a long time for the team to defeat him, including going to the past and gathering all telepaths together, and even then he wasn't killed for good. Here, he's just some guy who decides to end the world and sets it into motion in a blink of an eye and gets himself killed even faster. I expected something like Thanos, but it was like... who was the ultimate DC villain again?
P.S. Really? You didn't get Roger to play the Angel? Come on, it's so obvious.
Darkseid, Parallax, Imperilex, Necron, Anti-Monitor.
Darkseid is the one you're talking about. An excellent villain, far better than...that.
9:54 Cyclops: We’re not going to fall in love, (singing) I’ve not been dreaming of your true loves kiss.
28:45 "Apocalypse" and "Easy to Kill" together sounds crazy when you realize that, in the comics, if even ONE drop of blood remains, he'd still heal from it.
Please continue to add to the "As you know" montage every time the line crops up.
Technically In Days Of Future past Magento being Quicksilver’s dad was hinted at. When he rescues him from prison and asks what he can do And he says he can control metal quicksilver says
“You know... My Mom used to know a Guy who could do that” so yes it was hinted at and further expanded in this one so it isn’t really out of nowhere
Apocalypse - "A Papa Smurf rendition of King Tut" 🤣🤣

That was Matthew Vaughn's exact thought process as well. Fox disagreed, and it's why Vaughn didn't return to direct any other X-men movies.

Good Things about the Young X-Men trilogy: Jean Grey has a lot better Phoenix saga, the young Scott Summers feels more developed, Storm has a more of background, plus, Beast is more relatable, Quicksilver's speed is one of greatest superpowers used, and we have Xavier's school: good these movies and the first trilogy, the costumes are more colorful, Magneto has a lot scenes with his magnetism, lastly, that couple in the record store in Apocalypse might be Gambit and Rogue, if so, that would be amazing fan-service.
