I actually loved the Crane Operator scene; seeing as the crane operator who got the ball rolling is the father of the boy Spider-Man initially saved on the bridge during his first public reveal. I appreciated that the dad wasn't a one-off extra, and that Spider-Man seemed to get a more natural win over New York. The music was trumpet-y enough without being over the top and the NY/American pride message was delivered successfully without distracting from the point of the scene being: Get Spider-Man to the final fight & save the day.

I actually like the change to "with great power comes great responsibility". In a world of superheroes like the comics that line doesn't feel out of place, but as far as we've seen in this world, Spider-man is the only hero we know about. Uncle Ben's line in this movie feels more appropriate for the setting. In the Raimi movies it felt awkward and really clunkily forced in, even when I was younger I thought it felt really out of place.

I really loved those two movies. For me Andrew was the best spiderman on the big screen. Like, he is funny but akward sometimes, but always tries to keep a smile on his face no matter what is at stake. I don't even have to say he's the best Spiderman right? Funny, makes joke of his enemies, etc. And his relationship with Gwen is just adorable. I can't stand to see the relation between Tobey and MJ in the first movies... it's all the same whereas with the amazing spiderman there's so much more chemic between them, Gwen is not a princess that needs to be saved; Peter and Gwen both work together! Anyway. Can't find issues on those movies that people criticize so much.
I will defend even Elektro in the second movie. People prayezed the Joker for his depth and character. I know, I know. I am not trying to say Elektro was a better and written character, but at end of the day, they are pretty much the same character: both live with their problematic moms; they don't know hot to fit in society or how to interact and they both got mad at the world for setting them apart and want to make them suffer. So I don't see Elektro as a motiveless character. Lizard is pretty much stable as a villain and Harry had his motives to do what he did... He was lonely and lost, he just wanted a friend a somebody to save him...
It's still 2020 and I hope that someday we're gonna get something with Andrew's spiderman. Be it a spider-verse or a appereance on a Venom movie, whatever. I just want to know what happened to him and how he dealt with his loss and everything.
Just one more thing. I don't know why people criticize so much the fact that the TASM franchise tried to work on Peter's parents. I mean. I've always wondered why they left him. Now we kinda know... and I am okay with what we got.
I just want to say that these are really underrated movies that should have a little bit more of attention...

@@burritobrosvideos8060 I'm being intentionally impartial, the Amazing Spider-Man movies were always a bit weird to me, like they were trying too hard to be their own thing...which is weird because I'm typically annoyed by how little people deviant from the "normal" Spider-man story.
This was...something that I think needed to be made at the time in order to act as a buffer and make mistakes that others could learn from.
I liked it at the time, but in hindsight it actually seems below average to me, since it's got such a faded style to it, it's almost like it's trying to stand out by not standing out at all. It feels like it had a lot of the fun sucked out of it, and in an attempt to avoid being campy, it lost a lot of the nuance of the comics.
My opinions can differ by what day it is and what mood I'm in, but my "objective" view of it is that it's a necessary phase to lead to new growth. For every rise, there's a crash, and for every crash, there's a return, these two movies served as a short return after Rami's 3rd movie was below average, so an average movie was an "improvement" that needed to happen, then some god awful needed to happen before something amazing, and that's how we ended up with this movie's sequel.
It's a very abstract pattern that I've noticed with the media of long-living characters like those from comics.
But anyways, none of that really matters, you seem to care more than I do to reply to a dead comment. :/
