Stranger in the Alps was my album of the year 2017. and to me, it's Phoebe's magnum opus.
i'm not gonna lie the thought of you ranking these songs at the end of the video kinda gave me some anxiety because i never could rank them. this record has no skips for me. and i literally had periods of my life in which i was obsessed with each of these songs individually. you still managed to come up with a pretty solid list though!
Smoke Signals has to be my favorite Phoebe Bridgers song ever. the lyricism on it is so clever/ground breaking, vocal harmonies are haunting and the stripped back production is chef's kiss, it's one of the very few songs that i stream almost everyday. glad you loved it and it's cool to see it ranked high on the list. the reprise is amazing too. Motion Sickness as your favorite song is a very good choice it's one of her best. it sonically feels like the Kyoto of this album which i love.
i gotta say this is one of my favorite reactions to this album that i've seen since it came out (i've seen a lot). your initial interpretations are always refreshing. i also love the balance you manage to achieve in terms of focusing on the lyrics while also appreciating the production choices. (and your You Missed My Heart theory was very interesting actually)
the track Would You Rather is very good, i love Connor Oberst and the fact that he's a part of this record makes it even better. Bright Eyes is a very good band. and since you mentioned that you might be checking some of Connor's music out. i suggest you listen to "I'm Wide Awake, It's Morning" by Bright Eyes, it's their best album in my opinion. it even cracks my top 10 best albums of all time honestly. (he also has some solo stuff)
Also, there's a Deluxe version of this album that includes a demo version of Motion Sickness and a cover she did for the song It'll All Work Out by Tom Petty who died the same year this album was released. you should definitely check them out later on your own, they offer a good addition to this lp.

Ranking it was just so impossible and every ranking is different once I finish the album. I feel bad specifically for putting You Missed My Heart so low because it's so incredible and beautiful but I felt a coldness on the first listen that I didn't quite shake. I think the album overall is so stunning and pretty much 10/10 for me, with Smoke Signals and Motion Sickness being two of the best songs ever - and Funeral always gets me sad too. How does she do it?
The Phoebe journey has just been so beautiful and I feel honestly so privileged to share in this music. It's proper art.
every phoebe reaction video i watch makes me feel like im watching someone witnessing history. she truly is so talented. this, punisher and the record by boygenius are my top three albums of all time.

You have no idea how excited that made me😂 my older sister was obsessed w that show when she was younger and now we just watch it and I can’t think of the song without thinking of the hilarious effects meant for a tiny grainy tv (I’m a little too young to remember watching things clearly on tvs like that but old enough that the sentiment is still there😂)

if you liked conor oberst’s voice, him and phoebe have a project called better oblivion community centre with an album. there’s not much more music other than that with bocc (other than like one other single) but they’re really good
yes definitely react to boygenius! i actually recommend starting with their self-titled 2018 EP, especially because the record references it both musically and with their tattoos on the cover. i also recommend checking out julien baker and lucy dacus (the other boygenius members)' solo work. i definitely have a strong julien bias but lucy is great too, especially her third album Home Video
there's also the new boygenius EP "the rest" which just came out, and their covers of cowboy take me away by the chicks, read my mind by the killers, stay down, man by dan reeder, the parting glass (folk song famously covered by sinead o'connor), and you're still the one by shania twain
