"In fear of sounding redundant of how 97% of these pre-album release descriptions always come off, I won't try to describe how our new album You Will Never Be One Of Us sounds. What I will tell you is that the same care and the same attention went into this album as our previous albums Unsilent Death and Abandon All Life, and our new album sounds as inspired as either of those two full length recordings.
"Our new record has some new twists and turns that are built off the foundation we laid with our previous albums, as well as a lot of familiarity that you've come to expect from NAILS. You Will Never Be One Of Us is for us, for our fans, and for anybody else who feels disgusted and fed-up with social-climbing impostors, trying to leech off of anything they've ever dedicated themselves to. I can say with 110% certainty: We will not let you down."
"'You Will Never Be One Of Us' is the title track and also the opening track from our new album. I can't deal with trying to write some clever, witty, or whatever type of descriptive garbage filled with barbs about how our band is awesome and other bands suck (which is absolute peasant bullshit), so I'll cut to the chase. This is to date, our favorite song. It's a song which represents almost every side of NAILS. When it comes time to announce a record, it's really difficult for us to pick the first song to let the world hear because any NAILS record to date is more about the LP as a whole and not 1 song really represents the full LP, but I can say with no hesitation, this song represents this LP and we're confident that we should be releasing this song first. 'You Will Never Be One Of Us' is about about the pain and the pride that goes into being involved in hardcore/punk/metal unconditionally...being a lifer. It's a knife to the throat of the people who come and liter their bullshit and impose on everyone for their own selfish agenda. It's for everyone who dedicates themselves to their craft...their music...their passion...whatever the fuck it is, and seeing someone come along and attach themselves to what you do/love and abuse it, with no regard or respect for it. This song is not for NAILS, but for all of US.
"As far as the video goes, we needed something that represented us and wasn't fake. The world really doesn't need another 'band playing in a warehouse' music video, but again, without being condescending with some passively aggressive description and putting other videos down, we believe this video not only stands out as far as quality and expression, but represents us in the best possible way that a music video could. It conveys the emotions that you might experience from us if you come to one of our shows. This video shows what we are, doing what we do in this band. No pretense, no overblown image, no bullshit, no gimmicks, no artificial/cheap attention grab. This video IS NAILS. Fucking period.

My one concern for this band, is that I don't listen to hardcore or grindcore, and I love it.
You don't find the vocals catchy?
I'm a little late, but a lot of grindcore sounds like noise. I would HIGHLY recommend the album Prowler in the Yard by Pig Destroyer. It's probably the catchiest grindcore album that actually sounds like music.

The vocalist has a nice Entombed sound to his guitar tone.
theeholygoalie It's because Kurt used a boutique distortion pedal modelled off of the original BOSS HM-2 which is the same pedal that Entombed, Dismember, Grave and At The Gates used on their albums.
That, and Kurt knows his shit and is able to achieve the sound through proper mic technique and overall mixing for lack of adequate terminology, a lot of people fail to get the tone right even with the pedal. I know some metal fans think Ballous version of Sunlight studios guitar tone is overproduced and missing the classic element but I strongly disagree, this is, modern metal at its highest level imo
This album is pure hatred, I just love it! Btw great documentaries. Ballou is the beast.
You guys sold your 1000 copies so fast because you went in the studio & played what & how you wanted.thats when you shine!!! I love NAILS.in my top 10 for sure. Punk/grind/crust/metal/gore!!!!
I just recently got into metal music, and even more recently, Nails. I just wanna say that I hope the band members are doing well during these tough times, and most of all I really hope that this pandemic doesn’t bring an end to my new favorite band

Raw, that’s the only way to describe these guys. It’s like being in the water with your back turned to a giant wave, there’s no build up or anticipation, just the wave crashing down on your head, sweeping you up, and throwing you around violently and then stopping all of the sudden, leaving you battered and broken. At the end of it, all you can think to yourself is: holy shit, I wanna do that again!

It's funny to hear them say they put out a lot of variety in their music. To me it all sounds basically the same start to finish. I love it, but I often can't tell one song from the other XD
Listen to it more, it reveals the details with time
I kind of agree with that to an extent but they improved on that A BUNCH on this new album. A lot more memorable qualities for each song. Distinct song structures, breakdowns, vocal lines, riffs Riffs RIFFS, etc.

The ONLY complaint I have about the new album, literally the ONLY complaint I have, is that the last song fades out. With this type of music, fading out is the worst move you can make. Sooooooooo anticlimactic. OTHER THAN THAT, the album is badass, disgusting, relentless, awesome fucking music.

I hear you. When I finish this album, I honestly feel like that happened almost ironically, like, fuck, what, that is unexpected and cringey almost. It isn't supposed to be like that, and they did it and it just offends you one more time in a new way. But yes, I close this album with a small sense of irritation with the fade out as well.

The more I think about it, they probably mean the difference between a bands like Trapped Under Ice or Terror and bands like Bad Brains and Minor Threat , which while both pairs are technically hardcore, Bad Brains and Minor Threat are also much more punk sounding.
they signed to nuclear blast and then cancelled a fuckin tour? if you sign to a label like nuclear blast you are making a career out of music. you are expected to fuckin tour.
