Архыз, Перевал Софийское седло, 10.08.22 (Arkhyz, Sofia Saddle Pass)

Подъем на Софийское Седло (2640 м) идет по хорошей тропе, доступен начинающим туристам и даёт возможность увидеть сверху заповедную Кизгычскую долину и вершины Марухского ущелья.
От "Ледниковой фермы" нужно выбраться на гребень короткого отрога, выступающего из массива Чегет-Чат. Первые 200 метров крутые, затем гребень плавно выводит альпийскими лугами немного левее и выше низшей точки перевала. По мере подъема все больше вырастает громада горы Софии, все больше открывается деталей на её леднике и вершинном куполе. Подъем занимает 2-3 часа.
Под ногами пропасть Кизгычской долины. На её дне среди серых галечных отмелей и темных лесов белой лентой вьется река. Над нею крутой стеной встал хребет Ужум. По его склонам меж черных клиньев пихтарников серебрятся тонкие струи водопадов. Там, где Ужум упирается в Главный хребет, виден ледник Бугойчат и глубокая снежная седловина перевала Куреллы. Панораму венчают выступающие на заднем плане грозные пики Кара-Кая и Марух-Баши.
Прямого спуска к Кизгычу нет, ниже обрывы скал и глубокие селевые овраги. С введением заповедного режима на Кизгыче тропа туда сильно заросла. Идти нужно наискосок вправо. Быстро меняется характер растительности. У гребня на открытых местах она бедная - мхи, редкие травинки. Немного ниже по сплошному травяному ковру уже щедро рассыпаны синие гиацинты, у границы кустарника красуются великолепные золотисто-белые лилии. Через березовое криволесье нужно выйти правее к началу пихтового клина. Дальше идет крутой серпантин среди огромных пихт. Спуск с перевала длится около 3 ч и заканчивается на поляне Бага-Тала у домика заповедника (1570 м).

From the "Ice Farm" you need to get to the crest of a short spur protruding from the Cheget-Chat massif. The first 200 meters are steep, then the ridge smoothly leads through alpine meadows a little to the left and above the lowest point of the pass. As you ascend, the bulk of Mount Sophia grows more and more, more and more details are revealed on its glacier and the summit dome. The ascent takes 2-3 hours.
Under the feet of the abyss of the Kizgych valley. At its bottom, among the gray pebbly shoals and dark forests, a river winds like a white ribbon. Above it stood the Uzhum ridge as a steep wall. On its slopes, between the black wedges of fir forests, thin streams of waterfalls silver. Where Uzhum rests against the Main Range, you can see the Bugoychat glacier and the deep snowy saddle of the Kurella pass. The panorama is crowned by the formidable peaks of Kara-Kaya and Marukh-Bashi protruding in the background.
There is no direct descent to Kizgych, below there are cliffs and deep mudflow ravines. With the introduction of the reserve regime on Kizgych, the path there was heavily overgrown. You need to go obliquely to the right. The nature of the vegetation is changing rapidly. At the crest in open places, it is poor - mosses, rare blades of grass. A little lower, blue hyacinths are already generously scattered on a continuous grassy carpet, magnificent golden-white lilies flaunt at the border of the bush. Through the birch crooked forest you need to go to the right to the beginning of the fir wedge. Then there is a steep serpentine among huge fir trees. The descent from the pass lasts about 3 hours and ends at the Baga-Tala glade near the reserve house (1570 m).
