Straßenbahn Lund

Die Straßenbahn Lund fährt seit dem 13.12.2020 als aktuell vierter schwedischer Straßenbahnbetrieb auf ihrer 5,5km langen Strecke. Als Linie 1 wird der Hauptbahnhof mit dem Forschungszentrum ESS verbunden. Wichtigster Unterwegshalt ist die Universität.

I’m glad to see that my country has finally embraced trams after we demolished most of them in the 60s.
Stockholm is currently extending branch of Tvärbanan to Helenelund, and is also in the planning stage of constructing Spårväg Syd (Tramway South), which has already been budgeted and everything.
Due to political reasons, Stockholm prefers constructing light rail in the suburbs over building trams in the inner cities, due to the extreme costs of previous inner city projects in Stockholm, but there are plans is a plan to connect the tramways Lidingöbanan and Spårväg City. Those plans have just been sidelined in favour of other projects for the time being.
I hope this was an interesting read for some of my German friends!
