  • If your vehicle air conditioner blows hot air when it gets in to the 90s outside it could be that the outside of your radiator is dirty.
    Does your radiator work OK when it’s 70 or 80s outside but once it hits the 90s it just blows hot air?
    I tried everything to fix my air conditioner in my Ford F150 and it worked well as long as it was under 90° outside but when it got hot outside my AC just blew hot air.

    Awesome information. But still - wow. A parts cannon was shot at your truck, and you were asked to pay for the ammo. "Don't guess - test!" ...is what we tried to live by when I was a diagnostic tech. But, when in doubt or simply perplexed (your situation was a strange one), an educated guess is all we are sometimes left with. I'm not an AC specialist; many good technicians are not. It is a specialty like anything else. Thanks again for sharing the information. I learned from it.

    Mine starts off cool if the truck is moving but turns hot when sitting idle for example a red light, or going in a drive thru.

      Have you tried cleaning the outside of your radiator? Either at a car wash or hook a garden hose up to your home hot water heater.

      did you get your ac fixed man? I have the same issue and it literally gave out today. its not blowing any cold air anymore
      I will definitely try cleaning out my radiator as well to see if that solve the issue.

      I know the fix on the warm air at stop light. The electric fan is not working. I replaced my electric fan and that was the end of warm air blowing at light.

    You mean the radiator or the condenser? Big difference.

      I'd guess the condenser.. radiator shouldn't have anything to do with AC in my mind? Although he did say he replaced the radiator.. hmm Edit - Although if the radiator is completely clogged, it won't allow the radiator fan to pull cold air through the condenser as well? Maybe that is why replacing the radiator did the trick, assuming the condenser was clean. He could have possibly tried using AC cleaner that is used on outside home AC's units to get the old radiator looking like new? Maybe easier to just replace the radiator if it was only $100

      I am no expert but my understanding is there is a safety mechanism that prevents the condenser from working if the radiator is running hot. Bottom line is I replaced the radiator after trying everything else and have had cold ac for two years.

      Usually the air conditioner condenser is in front of the radiator.

      @gregbing573 yes, but more times than not, they're separate units. I had a town and country that had the trans cooler and condenser integrated in the radiator as one piece. But my Silverado had the condenser separate from the radiator.

    Radiator or condenser sir? Which was replaced?

    • @SteveMachado
      @SteveMachado  Před 6 měsíci

      Radiator, but first I would try cleaning the exterior of the radiator vents with hot water and make sure water runs trough them.

      @@SteveMachado yeah I will try actually has been awful. Nowhere near cold. Why does replacing the radiator clear it up to being cold again?
