as in this example, the video on left is shorter, once that finishes, the video on right is still in right half of the screen. Is there a way to make it cover the whole screen, once the overlay video is finished? Thanks

Thanks for this but you should mention the split screen option is only available on the Movavi Video Editor Plus version.

No you don't. When you double click on the vid you want the options for animation will open above. It will say Video..Audio. Click on Animation and Advanced will be at the bottom.
