was up there yesterday for the first time. (having only been to duluth entering from either i- 35 or highway 2) There are two pictures in my dental hygenist's office: One from gooseberry falls and the other from that shore y'all were on for the lighthouse. I didn't go down that far, but I DID go through the lighthouse and the views from up there were AMAZING. Also hit up gooseberry falls, (Surprised I didn't break an ankle) . I took a longer trek than y'all did lol Just trying not to kill myself by falling. Was a lot quicker getting back to my car and the visitor's center than to where I finally turned around. I did touch tettegouche state park by chance because of the rest area and did see a bit, but unfortunately did not stay long and wound up in Grand Marais before heading back down south. The views were GORGEOUS.
Awesome video! The North Shore is beautiful and we were there back in May for Memorial Day, our first time there. From Duluth to Grand Marais it's a wonderful drive and so much to see along the Scenic Highway. We didn't get all the way up to Grand Portage but we did follow the Gunflint Trail all the way to the Gunflint Lodge, and that's a great scenic drive too! We loved finally seeing Split Rock lighthouse after many years of wanting to go there....Palisade Head and Black Beach were great spots too!
What a small world! We were there just a week after you. We're still getting caught up on our pre-baby adventures. Lake Superior is pretty amazing. Was Palisade Head swarming with Mosquitos when you were there? We didn't get to enjoy the view from there for very long 😆
@@NeverStopAdventuring we didn't see any mosquito on Palisade Head but it was so windy that day they couldn't fly lol. Half the week we were there it was so foggy you couldn't see the Lake 😂 the Viking Octantis (a new 600 foot cruise ship that was cruising the Great Lakes that week) was moored in Duluth Harbor and it was so foggy you couldn't even see it from the shore. We got good pics of it from Enger Tower later that day though
@@NeverStopAdventuring can't wait to see it! We were there just as things were starting to open up again, on Memorial Day morning Monday there was really only one place near our rental to eat so it took an hour waiting in line and then 20 minutes to get the breakfast. We really enjoyed Grandma's Saloon and Grille the first night we were there. We had just taken the S.S. Badger car ferry from Ludington MI to Manitowoc WI across Lake Michigan so it was a late dinner as it took us 5 hours to get to Duluth driving from there.
You mentioned being eaten by mosquitos, which doesn't make sense to me since there were never any mosquitos in that entire region in all the years I used to go there (the mosquitos are further inland where there are a lot of swamps, but on the North Shore there's no stagnant water in which they can breed).
Yep, they were pretty bad when we visited. We actually visited inland as well and it was worse for us on the North Shore. Absolutely beautiful scenery out there, but going heavy on the bug spray was a must. Maybe it's better at other times of year?
@@NeverStopAdventuring I've been up there many times. If you stand right next to the Lake you might not see many mosquitoes but if you step just 10 feet into the tree line, you're gonna get pounded by them. The scenery is worth the torture however. :)

Nice! That whole area is beautiful. Hopefully the mosquitos weren't too bad yet! 🙂
Wow! I know where I need to be for my next birthday - Nov 10!
I'm sure it's still gorgeous out there, but be prepared for it to be cold that time of year!
@@NeverStopAdventuring No doubt!

@@georgekn3mp oh wow! I guess that's the price we paid for having nice weather the whole time. Duluth is next weekend's video 😁

Wouldn't it be the west shore? The north shore is in Canada.
It's called the north shore of Minnesota, not of Lake Superior. Then again we aren't from there, but that's the way we understand it 🙂
Good video, although "Tettegouche" is pronounced "tet-ah-goo-chee" rather than "tet-ah-gooch".
Thank you! At least we were close 🙂
Definitely not an intuitive name!
Too bad to see the ugly cell phone tower
More beautiful views! Definitely worth braving the bugs for 😁
Some people were out hiking with bug nets over their heads 🙂
Lake Superior is pretty spectacular!
