OMG - she sets Paganini on fire - absolutely stunning. Probably performing like Paganini to delight and stun the audience at the same time. What an amazing violinist and artist. Reminds me of the playing of a young Ruggiero Ricci - totally immersed and playing with controlled abandon.
She plays like 17 years old Midori would play it. No respect. Head on. No safety at all. She is very brave young lady. Respect. Caprice Nr. 5 as encore.
I was privileged to attend a number of concerts led by Mr. Spivakov ... on a special date in 2019 I was surprised in 2019 to attend a next concert in Moscow ... what a gift ! ... considering his origin, his history, his musical development, his concern for young people who cannot own an instrument, his always kind words to the audience, his lack of arrogance ... all this makes him - for me - THE conductor of all times !

The original fiendishly difficult bowing in Paganini's Caprice No 5 has become her signature performance and reaches a peak here. The best I've heard: she's surpassed her own standard of excellence. Paganini himself would be jealous!
Her encore piece was the best I have heard any virtuoso playing this piece. She gave lots of time for expressive sections, mastering it to her own taste and treating the piece like a plaything.

@@vartolomei55 Yes, sure, there's youthful vigour and gusto there, steeliness too, and I think Paganini would be proud, despite perfectionist criticism. When she adds just a little more finesse it will be even more incredible. For expression she is streets ahead of standard virtuosos on Paganini. Tender parts are tender as well. You can see she has matured a lot even in the last 5 years. I'll take a listen to Augustin, but I grew up on Menuhin and have listened to a lot of others play Paganini. The best Beethoven violin concerto cadenza by far is Maxim Vengerov but Maria adds a decent touch to it. Maria's Zigeunerweisen is stunning, so passionate. If you talked with Vengerov I think he'd go for hearing the passion over clinical perfection any time. Such iconic violin pieces are a bit like a woman. sometimes passionate, sometimes gentle and each presentation has its own unique charm and enjoyment. Nobody has repeated Menuhin's playing style with its sense of tension, anticipation, unfulfillment, hesitancy (I can't think of the right word) with so many of his strokes that leave you on edge for the next note to fulfil it. Maria will bring her own style. Can you imagine Paganini reappearing now and his biggest surprise won't be that we are playing his pieces today but that there are so many women playing at top level , something unheard of in his time. He would think it's heaven.
@@stephenking4170 I listen Paganini first time 40 years ago .With Gitlis . After that more than 30 , maybe 40 different styles . Everybody sounds different , most of them very steely , not warm . I like Menuhin , but in some parts ( paganini concertos ) i don`t . Well ...very underrated ... Kristóf Baráti is/was one of my favorite ... But Augustin ... 🤩🤩🤩 ... I like Maria and I think that in 10 years she will be one of the greatest ... Anyway .. in the last...it`s a matter of taste ... P.S. - Did U heard Janine Jensen ? Greetings from Romania !
@@vartolomei55 Thanks for that. I hadn't heard of Barati so I listened to him playing Paganini concerto1. He plays it so effortlessly as if he could read the newspaper at the same time. I first heard Paganini concerto by Menuhin in the early 1960s on my father's LP. I have heard Janine. You have so many talented musicians in your part of the world. Just over the hill from ROmania there's Rusanda Panfili who plays Zigeunerweisen magnificently on youtube. And the greatest pianist ever, Horowitz from Ukraine who turns Rachmaninov concerto 3 into a real journey, more magnificent than any movie.. Valentina Lisitsa another Ukrainian follows in his footsteps. All the best from New Zealand !
