I can relate with this song. My Grandfather grew up the same. He lost his mom at a young age and had to take care of shop. Raised on farming. He always told about how hard it was back in the 20's. He worked his hands to the Bone also, plowing many Acres with just a mule and a plow. All that responsibility at the age of 10. He joined the military (WW2) and gave them Germans hell. He was a Wolverine 104th Infantry. Sold his chocolate and cigarettes that he received free from the military and saved up, and when he got out of the military he started a tailoring business. Then he bought a construction company and became a very successful man. He was president of the VFW Post in New Orleans for two terms. He's was honored at the World War II Museum in New Orleans on four different occasions. He passed away in 2016. Had to come back for an edit. I realized I made a mistake with his Infantry number. 104th
