Damn 8 years ago i was gaming on amd apu with 15-30 fps and im grateful with it… good to see current igpu is wayy better at gaming.
Great work hubwood! The 760M has 33% fewer CUs while the 125H's Arc has ~13% fewer EUs compared to their top spec counterparts. The 760M is also paired with ~13% slower RAM. On avg with your test suite, the 760M is ~14% faster while consuming 10-20% more power. Food for thought 🤔 Fingers crossed more optimisations ahead for Intel.
Question or maybe a video, if you were to limit them idk, ~30W for handheld gaming (MSI Claw perhaps?), would Intel close the gap?
Unsure about the details of the displayed power metrics on Intel side, but AMD's power metrics show the SoC power, not the iGPU. But your other observations are correct. Arc did come a long way, but RDNA3 has a small leg up over Arc Xe-Hpg in regards to processing node, driver maturity, die size allocation and raw compute power. A better comparison would be made possible with both using LPDDR5 and VRAM allocation set to max for both. Alternatively, a Ryzen mini PC like Beelink's versus the upcoming NUCs and mini PCs with MTL, preferably from the same manufacturer in a similar chassis could also be considered.
AMD often outperforms Intel at lower TDPs so I guess it would widen the gap, in the favor of AMD.
you cant compare cores of different architecture in graphics.
@@kogarashixz amd got +15% frames in assassins creed while consuming 7w more
same with cyberpunk +8% frames for 6-13w more, Hogwarts legacy+14% frames at 9w more, elden ring +23% frames at 15w more, in tomb raider +9% frames at 10w more,
meanwhile in far cry 6 arc got +3% frames at 10w lower then 760m
so that argument falls flat, yes it used to be like that with XE igpus but arc is different story
but sadly most amd fanboys keep repeating the same old "AMD out performance at lower wattage" 😑
not to mention Intel is constantly pushing driver updates to improve arc performance
Arc looking quite promising, most comparisons show a quite small difference and on all of them the power consumption is lower.
but the temps are pretty bad, sometimes reaching 80C even at just 30W.....maybe its just this laptop
@@deant101It's comparing a 15" gaming laptop to a 14" ultrabook. Plus these processors measure temperatures differerntly.
The power consumption is _not_ lower than Ryzen. You literally get shorter battery and fewer FPS.
Another great video Hubwood, i see you are using loq for the rx 760m, do you think there's any chance the performance will be the same on lenovo yoga 7 with 8640hs and also rx 760m?
Yeah absolutely
Cool!!! And now with FSR3/FG these iGPUs will become so much more useable....
Thank you for the benchmark 😍😍
Good job AMD 👍🏻👍🏻👍🏻
Pretty impressive gain from Intel .
Missed the BGM 🤩
What i find impressive is the low wattage of Igpu`s when gaming. What was your total power draw at the wall socket Hubwood. 👍
Hm depends. Around 50-65w
@@HubwoodThen 40w rtx 2050 is better option to game. Just form factor will be bigger. 😂
Temperature, Frametime and RAM usage are what i like to pay attention.
Below 35w from intel look good. But the problem with intel is price and they always improve 1% each gen
Yeah, Hubwood. Tell them. They need to start making budget Aspire, Ideapad 3, 5, Vostro and HP 255s laptops.
Can you compare the RTX 3050 6GB from Lenovo LOQ 15 2023 that you've reviewed with the new Intel Arc A530M 4Gb from the new Lenovo LOQ 15 2024? It would help some people so much, thank you
Can't get it in Europe :/ seems to be unavailable for us over here...
Perfect!
What the heil with Arc VRAM???It just taking so much amount of Aloc vram
Maybe driver issues.
Also, the Ultra 5 getting a thermal throttling. It may cause performance affect
Seems to handle it differently. Laptop has no option to choose vram.
@@Hubwood With AMD, it is still possible to do it even the manufacture disable it.
It's funny how Intel iGPU could have matched and even beaten AMD iGPU if Intel still allowed undervolting, but nope, they locked it. Their loss.
The AMD Ryzen 5 7640HS should have been used in the ROG Ally Z1 (non extreme)
Not the result what I was expecting . good to know intel heavily cut down the igpu on u5 .
Hi, possible test ultra 7 155h vs 780m ?
Yes. I will do that soon.
Nice iGPU become able to run 1080p game at high to medium sitting
760 vs 680 pls❤❤
Doesn't seem like there's any advantage with Intel, just suchs a bit less now for handheld/laptop gaming
Main problem is, can't find any thin & light decently priced AMD laptops with these APUs without dedicated GPU. Iam sure there will be lots of budget core ultra laptops available on the market soon and I'll be happy to get one because AMD has no offerings in budget segment with rdna 3 IGPUs.
Yeah, that is sad ☹️
You can take a look at the GPD Win Max 2 2023 model. It's not thin, but it's a light laptop-styled gaming handheld with either 7640u or 7840u. And this 10 inch laptop has 7500 MT/s lpddr5 ram for both Apu.
GPD also offers a small eGPU with the 7600mXT that can either connect through USB or pcie gen 4x4 cable, if you need extra GPU power.
If Framework ships to your country, you can also get both the Framework 13 and Framework 16. The latter has an option to add a dedicated GPU in the future since it's upgradeable!
Hey, can you do rtx 4050 1440 p dlss vs 1080 native...
Good idea, don't have a 4050nlaptop around right now though 😐
Colors are quite diference
why dont you test optimal settings, rather than using high settings?
To make sure the cpu part is not the bottleneck.
ryzen 7 7840hs with 780M vs core ultra 7 165h iGPU, please!
In the future! Trying to get decent core ultra laptop first 🙄
@@Hubwood I want that video so bad like many others. I know you can do it.😊
@@Hubwood where I'm at Lenovo Ideapad Pro has it. It can be custom built with 32gb of 7600mhz RAM and priced similar to the 7840U Pavilion Plus 14.
so AMD is consuming more power to give a few extra frames
man the table has turned quite drastically
Nah, the 760 would (on average) most likely still be a bit faster).
Also keep in mind it has been released 1 YEAR before the Intel chip...
it's not even the top end 780m and it's still beating intel's ass
To be fair it's not the Intel top end arc igpu either ;)
It's the "i5" version with less EUs and Xe Cores
it's not the best from Intel either especially since the Intel ARC from the U5 consumes 10w less than the RX 760M for a laptop I would say they are neck and neck
Because AMD consumes more power.
Intel hae Ultra 7 155H and Ultra 9 185H.
780m vs c.u 7 155h 🙏
Will do that soon. Waiting got the Intel laptop....
Cyberpunk is just not good for gaming unless you are on a console or have a high end Nvidia/AMD dedicated GPU. These iGPUs are only for non-AAA games in 1080p. Anything below 30 FPS on 1080p settings simply isn't playable in an enjoyable way.
There are AAA games that are defenitely playable even on igpus :)
Cyberpunk is indeed a tough one. But it can be done aswell. On igpus.
These new Intel chips just aren't optimized yet. Optimus Prime just tested a new handheld that runs Cyberpunk at 60 FPS. With XESS At 1200p!
Intel have lower tdp, but this video show intel arc eat more vram than amd
I would have appreciated comparing it with 7640U and 7840U instead of HS parts since the former use 28W as well and are considered more efficient
Intel`s frametime is more stable. Intel won!
Well maybe in HWL. But other than that? I don't see it ;)
He used acer laptops ,they have wrong memory configuration for intel ultra laptops
Hey there, what makes you think that? Do you have any source concerning that topic? I'd be interested :)
there have been reports of review units having 7500MHz LPDDR5X memory, while on retail the same models would only be available with 6400MHz. Don't remember if it was just Acer or many different manufacturers though, but I think this is what they meant@@Hubwood
Intel iGPU, same poop, different name.
No wonder that had to push the upcoming MSI claw to about 45W or so
You can see Intel Ultra 5 is as efficient as 760m. It is consuming much less power.
both are garbage ,infact igpus was always a garbage and basically weaker then cheap disrete gpu such as now are rx 570 or rx 6400
Yeah well that's your opinion.
HANDHELDS like the ally, steam deck legion go etc. Wouldn't exist if these didn't exist.
And millions of customers like them... So... There's that.
it would exists and this games you can play on potato GPU and cpu too !! i am not so stupid to pay fortune for APU which costs more then r5 7500F and rx 570-580 which are still way faster then this junk and if you already have AM5 mobo its litterally stupid to go with such a junk as this APus which performance are on zen3 level@@Hubwood
@@Mr11ESSE111Too broke?
@@Mr11ESSE111 So how would you use that 7500F + RX 780 combo on a train, the Bus, Holidays and such I wonder 🤔
i talk about APUs from ryzen 8600g and 8700G and if you are on train or elswhere you can still buy some laptop with descrete GPu and there is enough of them with rtx 3050,4050 for 600-800euro @@Hubwood
All the comments below are mostly made by amd die hard fanatics ... LOL ... seems like intel focus on more streamlined smoothness of gaming exp than lousy toywane amd gimmick keep focusing on stuttered high fps gaming exp ... my money on intel this time ... finally intel ...
