It's a tournament, they are there to win, not to entertain, so they use whatever works even if it looks spammy, they can't be using combos and moves that can be punished or that can't be chained or don't do a lot of damage.

Just gonna put my insights of SonicFox with his Erron Black, First obviously his mid-screen mix-ups that pushes opponents next to full corner range, it's just 28% most of the time but it's almost always done every like 3~4 secs with a high degree of success, Second his corner mix-ups + caltrops almost makes sure u stay on that corner guessing forever, also his 1 meter "breaker" (the meter-burn sand-toss thing) is a huge thing. For me that 1 meter "breaker" like move is the thing here.
If your that good at erron black you are a pro because erron is a very advance character it is difficult to keep a combo with erron so SonicFox is awesome.
Brandon Ham right? its easy to use Scorpion or Sub Zero considering you can just button mash a combo, but Erron has a lot of skill if you use him correctly. If you have no idea what you are doing, then Erron is not the person to be.

Marcus Mobley Ear buds to hear the actual game audio and the larger pair cancels out noise over their whole ear. Pretty sure that is the case as they mentioned the players can't hear the audience under the headphones and regular headphones that do noise cancelling aren't enough so two pairs are used to enhance the game audio but also drown out the rest. My best explanation hahaha might just be a professional player fad/technique
I personally would like to hear the crowd even if the crowd isn't on my side and I'm getting wrecked, would rather hear them then get caught up in my own head, plus noise never bothered me. In this match up if I was MIT I would have taken to more teleports to mitigate Sonic's corner combos, and definitely punished those dive kick EX slides that really screwed him, I mean they only had two days to practice but maybe branching out to a back up character would have benefited greatly, Commando Kano would have had a great advantage against Erron Black because of the big damage punishers, wish the tournament was more varied overall, all the interesting and varied styles were eliminated by constant 35%+ damage corner combos :/

One set of headphones is for listening to the game (the earbuds I am assuming) and th other is to cancel the sound of the crowd (bigger headphones) I'm only guessing but they do it in Starcraft? So that the crowd can't tell the players where they are on the map.

Trevor Philips I have no idea what this fool is talking about. Corner camping is what you should aim to do in fighting games. It means you have complete control over your opponent. You probably rage quit before a match is over.

Trevor Philips Lol, even in real fighting tournaments, fighters would want dominate someone in the corner... Nobody said shit like "Oh, that's unsportsmanlike".. That's why real fighters always stay away from being cornered cause that's how you lose in most cases..
They don't stop the match halfway and say "Man, that's very low of him to dominate him in the corner. Reset the match, ref".. Pfft..

Marcus Mobley Ear buds to hear the actual game audio and the larger pair cancels out noise over their whole ear. Pretty sure that is the case as they mentioned the players can't hear the audience under the headphones and regular headphones that do noise cancelling aren't enough so two pairs are used to enhance the game audio but also drown out the rest. My best explanation hahaha might just be a professional player fad/technique

I personally would like to hear the crowd even if the crowd isn't on my side and I'm getting wrecked, would rather hear them then get caught up in my own head, plus noise never bothered me. In this match up if I was MIT I would have taken to more teleports to mitigate Sonic's corner combos, and definitely punished those dive kick EX slides that really screwed him, I mean they only had two days to practice but maybe branching out to a back up character would have benefited greatly, Commando Kano would have had a great advantage against Erron Black because of the big damage punishers, wish the tournament was more varied overall, all the interesting and varied styles were eliminated by constant 35%+ damage corner combos :/

One set of headphones is for listening to the game (the earbuds I am assuming) and th other is to cancel the sound of the crowd (bigger headphones) I'm only guessing but they do it in Starcraft? So that the crowd can't tell the players where they are on the map.

***** I guess I've always thought of gaming (even in a tourney setting) as a casual, fun affair between like minded individuals where presentation isn't a priority. Now that big sponsors are stepping in and monetizing everything, I think that competitions like this one have lost that fun, I-don't-give-a-shit "spirit"
