@@WimsicleStrangerbecause you can’t drive the qb to the ground and land on them with all your weight and you can’t hit them if you take 2 steps after the ball is out of his hand. Both of which occurred and weren’t called.

It’s the irony of the league, that clearly favors one side of the ball smh
Last year it was "a focus penalty" and they still didn't call it.
They claim "player safety" for targeting/unnecessary roughness/QB hits but won't address turf on fields due to costs for owners to maintain traditional grass. In reality its an excuse to keep a sports entertainment business entertaining. They likely never would have changed the rules if the CTE studies never came out and it wasn't a liability for knowingly withholding/perpetuating damage to individuals.
TL;DR: Close low-score games are typically better overall football and more enjoyable for hardcore fans, but scores = ratings so high-scoring teams are always favored over defensive.

My thoughts on all these unnecessary roughness calls. Just take the helmets off or go to a soft helmet and less pads. You want to risk your life trying to hurt someone by hitting them in an unsafe manner, go right ahead. Give the QBs, Kickers and Punters helmets and nobody else. People will start hitting hard but more safely. All the safety improvements is what’s making it more dangerous, when you know you can destroy someone and they will be getting hurt more than you it’s not making the game any safer.
