    Whats the 0.5 all idea, can't we subtract from one 1,as it is al 1 probability?

  • @user-uv4kd6kv9k

    Why minus 0.5 in d first example

    • @patienceainembabazi1254
      @patienceainembabazi1254 Před 9 měsíci +9

      The total area to the left side is 0.5 to get it's probability u subtract the probability given to get the area (probability) of the remaining shaded part 👍

    • @Mma_JC
      @Mma_JC Před 8 měsíci +9

      Since the total area under the curve is 1. It simply implies that the area on both sides of the mean is 0.5 each.
      Now recall that the Z table gives the area between 0 and the Z value. Hence 0.5 - 0.1255 gives the wanted area.

    • @perpetualchisom3065
      @perpetualchisom3065 Před 8 měsíci +2

      The aim is to get the area of the shaded region, and the value of each side by the broken line is 0.5.
      Now, you must get the unshaded to know the shaded which is the value gotten from the table.
      Then you subtract these value from 0.5 to get the shaded part.

    • @carolynesein345
      @carolynesein345 Před 2 měsíci

      because total area under the curve is 1. so a half of it will be 0.5. that was explained before solving the question.

      Im if i get ur question..normally the normal curve has a total probability area of 1 and is symmetrical about center...so the other left part of mean center is 0.5 percent area and the right of mean is also 0.5 which all attributes to 1

  • @shuqranfazirat1269

    but why have changed the sign on second example

    • @frankkyando5539
      @frankkyando5539 Před rokem +1

      The idea is to get the area between the two value of Z. To do that we ind the area from 0 to -1 and minus it with the area from 0 to -0.16

    • @patienceainembabazi1254
      @patienceainembabazi1254 Před 9 měsíci

      Because it is symmetric ....we don't take negatives ..that's why we change the sign also but when using a calculator ..the sign remains
